Well, I got in a ton of traffic on the way home and didn’t make it home until after dark. Called Wolfie for two hours at the top of my lungs. No answer. I had hoped to see him at the door when I got home, but with there still no sign of him I became very discouraged.

Then I went up to my bedroom and saw one of my other cats looking under the bed. At first I saw nothing; then I saw Wolfie sitting up in the boxspring! This is crazy because he ALWAYS comes when he is called, especially when cat treat bags are rattled! He eventually came out of the boxspring but won’t come out, just remains huddled under the bed. He must be ill. I’m going to wait until morning and see if he is any better, if not we will need to drag him out to go to the vet.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, encouragement and good thoughts. I’m kinda embarrassed that he was apparently in the house the whole time. But relieved also!

Oh, thank goodness, catwoman. I was worried, too.

Hopefully, nothing is too seriously wrong with him. I’ll still send you positive energy your way.

Bad Wolfie – making mama worry!

    Hugs and purrs.

Oh my, catwoman. I would have been worried to death, too. I’m so glad he was in the house and I hope he isn’t sick.

Catwoman, I’m so glad you found him. I kinda wondered if he was still in the house, though, as you said, it was strange that he didn’t show himself for treats. I really hope he’s not ill. Maybe he just had a tiff with one of the others and he’s mad. Max does that once in a while, sits around and pouts all day for some reason or another unbeknownst to me. But if he usually comes to you, maybe he is sick. Keep us posted, ok?

Oh, I am so glad to hear that you found him. No one can hide quite like a cat – sometimes even in plain sight! Come to think of it, Nora hid on me the day after she had her last shots, because she didn’t feel well. Hopefully it is just something like that.

Catwoman, I’m so relieved you found Wolfie! I hope he’s not sick. But if he is, I’m sure you and your vet will do right by him.

Boxsprings are a perfect kitty hiding place! I once thought we’d lost one of our four cats when we moved. My DH thought Lady had accidentally gotten out during moving boxes out onto the back porch, though he hadn’t seen her dash out. She was *his* cat, too; he was so disappointed and sad. I was heartbroken at the thought that we’d let our cat down, and that she’d find a painful end in busy traffic.

We slept that night on the old apartment’s floor, on flattened carboard boxes. We had put out food & a carrier, hoping she’d come back for it. She didn’t show. Dejected, we went to our new apartment (only a couple miles away, but since she didn’t know where it was, it might as well have been the moon).

We laid down on the bed in the bedroom, and started to quietly talk, trying to sort through our feelings and reassure one another that it wasn’t our fault, that we’d tried what we could…

And a fluffy tailtip appeared at the edge of the bed, though we’d shut all the cats out of the bedroom.

I rolled over, looked over the side of the bed, and saw Lady standing there, looking up at us. I said, “You know, Lady, if I weren’t so thrilled to see you, I’d kill you right about now!!!!”

(She’d hidden in the box spring in the bedroom, where all the cats were shut in during the majority of the moving activity. We had no idea.)

Catwoman, so glad that you located Wolfie!!! Mine have done that to me, hid when they didn’t feel up to par but it is still a heart stopper.

Phew! That is a relief. I don’t normally log on in the mornings, but was anxious for news (I even bothered the night shift for a bit last night in case there was an update!)- really glad you’ve found him, hope you find out what’s wrong and can tell us later. xx

It scares me to death when Meescha doesn’t come when I call her, even though she is in the house or (I hope she hasn’t managed to get outside). Finally here she comes out from under my dresser or some new hiding place. Call the local humane society and go to your local animal shelter and search neighbors garages and sheds. Let everyone know that Wolfie is missing. I was an adoption counselor at our Local Humane Society and alerted people as to how to go about finding their lost pet. We would post all of the information into a book. Believe it or not, I found a missing cat that was reported at a three month time peroid and she was returned to the rightfull owner. People will find cats and call to turn in a “found pet”. Good Luck, never give up hope!!!

Thanks, Tracy! Fortunately, Wolfie turned out to be hiding in the boxspring of the mattress. This morning he was back to his old self, head butts and meowing for his morning treats.

And all is right with the world. Hope he feels better, Deb. Had to take Bo in this morning because he’s been vomiting and not eating for 4 days. He got a nice big injection of anti-nausea meds and he’s sleeping it off. keep us posted about Wolfie.

Sharon: Poor Bo! Tell him he’s not too fat. 😉 Nobody likes anorexic kitties anyway. His measurements are just purrfect for a handsome kitty.

Sharon, I hope Bo feels better. Is your vet open on the weekends? Mine is not,so a weekend illness means a trip to the emergency vet in Marietta. Very good people but of course, more expensive.
