We have a kitten who just turned 5 weeks old three days ago. We have had her and bottle fed her since she was 4 hours old.

On to my question: we introduced canned kitten food a few days ago and it was a rocky start but as of today, she is eating it great. She is eating about a small can a day for the last two days, split up between 3-4 feedings. Is it okay to not offer liquid formula anymore?

    Hi Shannon,

Welcome to TDKland and Concats on rescuing your wee girl.

5 weeks is early to ween a kitten. They usually don’t ween from mama until 8-10 weeks. Since she’s doing so well on the wet food keep her on it but also give her formula (or Goats’ milk) for another 2 weeks and slowly take her off the formula the following week. Unless you force her to eat, you can’t overfeed a kitten. She will eat as much as she needs and stop.

We TDKers purrfer Goats’ Milk as it has nutrients, probiotics and is easier on the tummy.

Good luck and let us know how you’re doing. Maybe we’ll see her as our Daily Kitten.

    PG
