Well, our ordeal with our little Horace is now over.
Saturday, Stacey came over with her man friend to retrieve the little rascal. We were not able to get a trap as the local ASPCA wanted a $50.00 deposit in loaning out a cage. None of us were in a position to do that so we reverted to plan B. She brought over a mesh bag sort of thing that she borrowed from the vet’s office and we went hunting. She also brought over a sedative to calm him down if we needed it. We searched for him high and low and finally found him in the basement. I was just about to grab him when he darted past all of us and off to the Attic he went. His favorite hiding place up there is in one of the eves, in the corner. Let me tell you that is a very difficult place to work with. We tried and tried to coax him out but no dice. We tried to do an injection but he kept on trying to bite the needle. Finally we figured a way to do it.
Now, picture the scene. Three of us are dusty & dirty in the overheated Attic, trying desperately to get our little Horace out. We ended up duct taping the syringe to a yard stick and attaching another stick to the first stick to use to push the plunger. While one person distracted the cat in the front, Stacey was able to do a quick jab in the back. Within 10 minutes he was down but he was so wedged in that we had to pry him out as he had his legs stuck in a hole. Finally he was free!!! Her man friend pulled him out and they wanted to put him in the meshy thing (totally useless if you ask me). I said NO WAY! After all we went thru to get him out, he is going in a carrier! I picked him up and whisked him away. When he finally made it to the carrier, we all breathed a sigh of relief. He was on his way to the vet’s office for the weekend where she will clean him up, have the vet check him on Monday, then have him neutered. His E.T.A. in his new furrever home is Tuesday!
We all cried tears of joy that she finally has him back. She knows that she will have lots of work ahead of her in dealing with him but she is up to the challenge. She should have internet service starting today so when she has a chance she is going to check us out at TDK and join our group. I have told her all about our loving family and she is looking forward to making the introductions and speaking with our very experience kitty people!! She will be needed lots of advice and ideas.
Thanks to all for your good thoughts and prayers, once again the TDK white light saves the day!
