Hope your bday is going well KJ 😉 careful with that absinthe… I’ve never tried it but my friends did .. And they swear they seen leprechauns ! The proper way to drink it is to melt a cube of sugar on a spoon and then dip into the absinthe while it’s still a flaming cube of sugar the blow out the flame off the liquor after a few seconds… And stir shut till dissolved…

Hey MS how’s Mr MS doing today ?

    Happy Purrday KJ!

… MS and Joan, I did giggle when reading the back posts … yes, BOTH my children have left TONS of ‘stuff’ here …. like MS, I feel like a storage facility! LOL ….

… Dau just texted, they have passed Savannah and are in South Carolina (about a third of the way) ….. I packed them a cooler full of sandwiches, pasta salad, chips and homemade cookies for the trip, so they are enjoying the eats 🙂

… of course, with Mr. AV gone, I’m eating all my fav foods (that he doesn’t like) ….. creamed spinach, steak, sushi …. and taken a nice long bubble bath ….. now watching my DVR’d shows (again, that he doesn’t like) ….. have to work tomorrow, but pretty easy stuff … a relaxing rest of the weekend!

Tks Buttons – don’t quite know what I’d see should I try absinthe. There is indeed a whole ritual to drinking the stuff, your friends tried the “flaming” version. One has to have a special slotted spoon, pour the drink into glass, place spoon across the top, place sugar cube and then pour some ice water over. Liquid goes all frothy and as for the rest, can’t say as have not as yet had the privilege. It is a drink known to encourage/enhance creativity. 😉

    Evening all! ….

… I did LOL at Joan and MS, yes, my Dau and Son left TONS of ‘stuff’ here …. don’t know when ever they will retrieve it, and it does clutter up their rooms …. but someday, someday, I’m hoping they will come and get it …. (yeah, right! LOL)

… had a wonderful steak dinner with creamed spinach – NOT things Mr. AV likes, so when he’s gone, I eat 🙂 …. tomorrow – sushi, another of his un-favorites
… I packed him and Dau a large cooler of samis, pasta salad, chips, and homemade cookies for trip, so they’re enjoying the eats 🙂

MS, glad Mr. MS is relaxing and resting … definitely necessary for re-cooperation, but something men find so hard to do! Mr. AV had the hardest time when he broke his arm, of course he did love me waiting on him (I’m sure you’re doing the same 🙂 )

    Tks Buttons!
Your friends tried the “flaming” recipe! Alternatively one can just pour ice water over sugar cube positioned across top of glass on slotted silver spoon. Liquor goes all green and fizzy (hence “green fairy”) and after that … but it does enhance creativity I’d think. Will have to try it at some point and provide a full report, if I can recall what happens after LOL.

Try too much absinthe and it may well be a birthday you don’t remember or maybe one that is memorable for all the wrong reasons. 🙂
Have a wonderful day KJ, I hope Dorry is spoiling you.
Buttons, Mr MS is doing really well, actually he isn’t doing much at all, sitting outside under the sun umbrella and reading or watching TV. I’ve never seen him do so little and it is good to see him relaxing.

Yes Joan the pink and silver tiara is so … well, me! Or purrhaps the absinthe gave me the illusion that I deserve to be treated like royalty LOL. That bevvie might get me into writing gloomy, incomprehensible poetry, or cooling my heels in dark hideaways with like-minded nocturnal denizens. Should I ever try it that is. Purrhaps I’d be better off pouring out the (very expensive) liquid and using the pretty kit-themed Lucid bottle for dried flowers or something. 😀
MS, glad that Mr. MS is in recovery mode and taking it easy.

KJ, that video was adorable! When you think of hiking, you think of the sights, but when you are a blind kitty, the sounds and smells make the hike exciting!
AV, I love creamed spinach, and gave it when hubby is away!
Can’t say that I know a thing about absinth, but the bottle sounds pretty. 🙂
Sorry to disappear on the party; I was over there in that comfy chair with all the cushions resting my full tummy and fell asleep.

    Happy Birthday KJ >^..^<

Haven’t tried absinthe but the ways described are interesting sounding!

Oh talk about ‘stuff’ that belongs to my kids, heck my double car garage is filled, yes filled with their stuff, lol.

Have had an upset stomach, running faucet nose and eyes today so sleep was very elusive, maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

    3. Slow Cooker Chicken Pot Pie
Pot pie is an essential fall comfort food, and Better Homes and Gardens makes this delicious dinner even easier to make. You can let it simmer all day on low, or cook it on high heat for 3 hours. The recipe yields 8 servings.
    Ingredients:
Try a Chicken and Rice Soup w/ Vegetables

    • ½ cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves or 1½ teaspoons dried thyme, crushed
    • 1¾ teaspoons poultry seasoning
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
    • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 3 pounds skinless, boneless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
    • 2 cups chicken broth
    • 1½ cups sliced carrots (3 medium)
    • 1½ cups sliced celery (3 stalks)
    • 1 cup shopped leeks (3 medium) or chopped onion (1 large)
    • 1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
    • 1 cup frozen peas
    • 1 cup half-and-half, light cream, or milk
    • ½ of a 15-ounce package (1 crust) rolled refrigerated unbaked pie crust
Directions: In a large resealable plastic bag combine ¼ cup of the flour, the thyme, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add chicken pieces, half at a time, shaking to coat. In a large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of the oil over medium-high heat. Add half of the chicken; cook about 5 minutes or until brown, stirring occasionally. Transfer chicken to a 5-6-quart slow cooker.
Repeat with the remaining 1 tablespoon oil and the remaining chicken. Add broth, carrots, celery, leeks, and mushrooms to chicken in cooker. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 6-7 hours, or on high-heat setting for 3-3½ hours. If using low-heat setting, turn to high-heat setting. Stir in frozen peas. In a small bowl, combine the remaining ¼ cup flour and the half-and-half; stir into mixture in cooker.
Cover and cook about 30 minutes more or until thickened. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Unroll piecrust. Press or roll piecrust into an 11-inch circle; cut into eight wedges. Place wedges on an ungreased large baking sheet. Prick each wedge several times with a fork. Bake for 8-9 minutes or until light brown. To serve, top each serving of chicken mixture with a baked pie crust wedge.
