The weekend lounge is open for business, though the weekend is half over in the So Hem!
Agency kitties have set up a fabulous buffet with anything and everything you could possibly crave. As a gentle snow falls, a couple of pyro-kitties tend to the big stone fireplace while others set up cushions for maximum lounging pleasure. Ceiling fans blow a gentle breeze in off the water from the patio side, where the sun shines brightly. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are set up, and the outdoor grills are ready to grill anything you would like. Off to the side, kittens are climbing trees in the nearby woods, as parents keep a watchful eye.
In the kitty playroom, there is a big screen tv, which is showing footage of the record snowfall in New York State. Some of the older kitties are telling stories about being in snow up to the tips of their tails, for it fell just outside the big glass windows by the fireplace! Kittens are buying every word of this wee white lie, for we all know that TDK snowfall is gentle and just enough for winter play.
Meanwhile, the ever so serious and eager to please chef kitties are ready to take your custom order, and a hostess kitty will find just the right spot for you.
    Welcome!

Good morning, Joan! Think I’ll sit by the fire and join in the tall tale telling. I’ve seen my share of snow over the past twelve years and am glad to be back in the Sunshine State.

I’m going to run errands this morning, but Eko doesn’t know that. He’s siting on my lap keeping me warm.

Morning Joan and ECB! I love the picture you paint in the lounge Joan, it does surely sound like Heaven to me. Like ECB, I think I stay awhile and listen to the telling of tales and I even have a few of my own that I might divulge. Excuse me as I settle down into the soft chair my the fire, close my eyes and tilt my head back, giving pats to my lap kitty as the story telling commences.

Hey ECB ,Joan & KZ 🙂

Hope EKo isn’t too put out when you do move him 🙂 Joan love the sound Of the cafe today.. I’m sitting beside the fire too.. It’s a chilly but sunny day here.

    KZ how’s Leona doing ?

Feeling so much better today 🙂 all the TDK good vibes I’m sure helped.. And of course Mr Noodle turning into a bedroom kitty helped . Had such a lovely long snuggle time with him.. Hopefully tonight will be the same !

Morning all! ….. a much warmer (but still pleasant) Caturday day here! ….. I’m so happy, cause my Hazel was here just a couple of day ago, so I don’t have to clean this weekend 🙂

…. being lazy watching some DVR’d shows this morning, but intend to get up/out soon and do a little Christmas shopping …. Mr. AV wants a specific type of golf slacks, so I’m on a hunt for some ….. he also needs some special professional balls (they are $$$, but I’ve got a coupon) …. need to try and find something for my 13 & 10 yr old nephew & niece …. those gifts are getting harder, as the bigger the get, the more ‘cool’ stuff is important to them, and sadly, I’m WAY out of the ‘cool’ loop these days …. will have to consult Son and Dau for ‘coolness’ …..

…. thinking of possibly a lava lamp for 13 yr old nephew ….. got my other nephew one (18) cause that’s what he wanted ….. can’t believe those things are ‘back’ ….. yeah, I could have given you mine 40 yrs ago ! LOL

Leona is much better, and she is so sweet taking her clavamox pills. I let her sniff it, then she lets me open her mouth and poke it in. She doesn’t spit it out! I scritch her chin and then off she goes…awwww. I like doing that better if I can instead of using a pill popper because I can feel where I put the pill in the cat’s mouth, but sometimes if you have a savage pill taker, the popper is the only way to go!
AV, wish I had kept my lava lamp from 40 years ago too, I think the lava was orange, and it took forever to heat up, but was so cool.
Well, off to pick up some pictures I had framed and matted for oldest daughter of the older granddaughters. I found them when I was cleaning a closet, didn’t know they were there and I know she will be ecstatic when she sees them. The girls are in the barn, one is sitting on a saddle and the other is holding straw; she’s standing there in a diaper and cowboy boots. Her living room is country/cowboy themed, she’s gonna love them. Had them framed in barn siding and a mossy green mat.
Warmer here too, and rainy, but as long as the snow is melting, I’m glad!!

KZ, love the photo gift for your daughter…how cool! And what a sweet girl Leona is! Buttons, luckily Eko (in typical boy ADD fashion) decided to relocate himself before I had to run errands. :). Glad you’re feeling better.

Enjoy your Saturday sans cleaning, AV!

Glad you are feeling better, Buttons, and happy that Leona us feeling better too.
Great idea on the framing, KZ! I have a couple of paintings my mom painted around 1970 that I would like to have framed.
The lava lamp from back in the day was orange or red, and yes, I remember it taking forever to heat up. How something so “groovy” earned a place on the tv is beyond me. Perhaps dad secretly thought it was cool – in a scientific way, of course!
Mac used the litterbox that Comet doesn’t know about – sort of. Let’s just say I’m glad I put a big towel under it!
Attempting to re-caulk the shower stall. Getting the old stuff out is challenging!
Would like to get to an open house at the garden center down the mountain, but that may not happen today – will have to see where the day’s projects take me.

Ah that’s great I’m glad she better KZ 🙂

Good boy EKo .. Meowmy wouldn’t have wanted to move you 🙂

Joan is Mac scratching outside the box ? Outside scratching is normally a sign that the cat isn’t comfortable about little tray size and wants a bigger area.. You could buy a cheap large container and use that as his tray to see if that helps it’ll have higher sides anyway

That’s what I was thinking, Buttons. The one that is there is too small. I do have a larger one, it’s one that I had out that Comet used so I’m going to clean it out and try it. Hopefully Comet won’t spot it!

Hope Mac gets the box issues sorted out, Joan. Eko’s specialty is going over the side (partly in the box and partly out…even with a high sided box.) He keeps his cleaning staff busy…lol. And yeah, I’m glad I didn’t have to move him from my lap this morning…he’s such a silky soft love bug…and he’ll nip sometimes if you relocate him…or if you’re a bit slow serving the food…lol.

…. back from a long day of shopping …. crowds weren’t too bad (yet) …. and I actually found the items I had in mind to get 🙂

…. it’s a wierd day here, warmish, but muggy/gray, wintery looking but not really feeling …. Abby of course, is on her heating pad, completely oblivious to any change in temp/weather LOL

…. I have a covered box for Abbs, she likes her privacy, and while she doesn’t go on the sides, she always pees in one place, and poos in another … I guess she’s a creature of habit LOL!

…. I think I’ll start tackling my table setting/decor this afternoon , I just finished washing all my nice table cloths and linen napkins … I need to run a cool iron over them, and I’ll be set …. I love breaking out the fine things for the holidays!

Lol Ms Moneypenny has a big fat tummy now and is waddling about 🙂 she loves sleeping the logs beside the fire I suppose it’s what she’s used to being a semi-feral and likes to scratch and leave her scent .. She seems to be using the litter tray a little better but you literally can’t go anywhere near her when she’s in it.. She’s a sweet girl but still haven’t seen her playful side yet .. I think her eye is improving but we have a long way to go yet. Other than growling Mr Noodle is acting normal and Ms Nutini doesn’t seem to be bothered at all she’s running and playing with Noodle so I’m delighted her nose isn’t out of joint.

One thing though is I’m now completely convinced Bob is coming through Mr Noodle too.. Along with all the others. I mean he would NEVER sit on the bed for literally more than 5 mins and he’d be off messing and jumping on the tv and Xbox and now since last night he comes in and won’t budge off the bed EXACTLY as Bob did! Noodle is even curling up I. The same position Bob used to when Mr B played the xbox . Noodle is a VERY special cat! I can’t explain how he’s doing all the things that made all my meadow kitty’s so individual and he is showing all of these personality traits and now to do this just after Bob has left us!

I forgot to tell you all one other very strange thing happened last week. You all know I trained Buttons to sit and give the paw. Well I thought I’d give it a go and train Noodle to sit but seen as he’s a kitten I thought it might be too early. But I had a treat in my hand and he came over and I said “sit Noodle” and he just sat ! I thought it was a fluck so I did it again and he sat again I had to call Mr B to show him and he was shocked . I never trained Noodle to sit he just understood the command. I think Buttons has something to do with that. So weird!!

Creeping in late in the day, trying to catch up with all the recent goings on. All of life is here I think. I am sad for the sad things and joyful for the joyous. Dru and I are wishing you all well and looking to borrow an armchair by the fire for a cosy half hour. It is cold and damp where we live- it gets into your bones so that only a seat at a real fireside will shift it. Greetings to everyone. X

Hi Judith, sending warm, radiant wood stove heat to warm your bones as well as Dru’s. I walked into the ‘stove room’ the other day, and on the sofa which has 3 cushions, a cat was on each one–and the other cat was across the room on the loveseat. Wish I had taken a pic of it! Would you believe that Willow jumped on the stove again?! He is limping now, and I have to keep an eye on his left front paw making sure it doesn’t get infected. Must be because he’s a boy, always pushing the envelope….LOL! I didn’t see him do it, but heard him land on top of one of the litter boxes and he was scrambling to get away. Now I know what that was about. Gosh, I hope he has learned his lesson this time. What can you do to keep them off? Never had a cat jump up there twice!
Cute story about Noodle Buttons! I think cats must think we are daft sometimes….he probably is saying “well of course I can sit Meowmy, I watched Buttons do it all the time!” Bob and Buttons surely are having a heyday watching from the Meadow… 😛
Joan, when I was as Pet Smart the other day I walked down the aisle where they had litter boxes. I was amazed at all the different types of boxes. One that was particularly interesting to me was one that looked like a storage box. It was tall and the cat entered from the top. It had an open place at the top for the cat to enter and leave, but you wouldn’t have to worry about privacy or the pee leaking out the sides. A cheaper alternative would be to make your own. You might be able to see it online, I’m not sure.

    Evening all!
Buttons glad that you seem to be on the mend and that Ms Moneypenny seems to be settling in! So the diva in the making likes her purr-ivacy? Hmmm … I have a covered litter box for Dorry, but true, one walk down aisle in pet supplies store and they seem to have come up with all sorts of diff arrangements. Supposedly one can train kits to use hoomin toilet, I’m not so sure, so not a plan here LOL.
KZ, also great that Leona is feeling better!
ECB, Dorry has me “well-trained” too, but good that he obliged so that you could continue with your plans for day’s errands LOL.
AV, glad that shopping expedition resulted in success, always fun when one can cross a whole bunch of things off list.
Judith, glad that you dropped by. Damp and chilly here across the pond too, varying with turning up heat, which makes place too dry, not a win-win situation. And arose from depths of day-long rest as sleep to hear my Nemesis tapping against window as freezing rain !!!! Hope that by moring it changes to genuine rain and melts. Supposed to get summer-like temps tomorrow/MOanday, never could figure this weather thing out.
Joan, re-caulking shower? You’re a braver grrl than I am. This would be a job for my fix-it guy LOL.
BTW, love the Lounge opening and I’ll willingly regale all comers with the tale of the infamous and very not fun “Ice Storm ’98”!
And here’s a purry pic to go along with wonderful word painting!

Now must get a very hot latte and nomz inside me and slowly wake up only to go back to bed for real sleep in a few!

Eko sounds a lot like Comet, a silky smooth lover boy but kind of messy! Fortunately, Comet loves the covered litterbox.
Leela’s litterbox which is upstairs (where she lives) is not covered – she does not like covers. She is a creature of habit – 2 pees and a poop per day, in the same spots! AV, glad you had a productive shopping day. I didn’t get out, but did re-caulk half the shower stall. It is okay to use tomorrow, since I didn’t cut away the old caulk on the other half. My hands get sore easily; I use the caulk that dries fairly fast and it’s out of a tube.
It is sooo cool that Buttons and Bob are communicating through Noodle. And glad Ms. Moneypenny is settling in!
KZ, so sorry Willow hasn’t figured out that the stove=hot. I try to fill the water pot when Comet isn’t looking so maybe he has forgotten that there is a beloved water source there. Might be helping that the teapot is not the clear one I’ve used in the past.
Hi Judith – great to see you!
Have made a few adjustments around here since Mac has been coming inside, primarily at night. Fed Leela and Comet before letting Mac inside. Comet likes to pick at his food and save some for later, but Mac will eat his as well as Comet’s, even though it’s in a different spot. So after his initial picking, I’m bringing Comet’s food upstairs, and ease into serving dinner up there. He won’t eat it where I tried to put it, so I put it by Leela’s dinner. I would prefer cats eating together anyway. Leela doesn’t like it, but at least they don’t eat each other’s food, and Mac seems happy to stay downstairs on his afghan and with his toy birdie. He also just used the big litterbox, and the poop was inside! Barely, but it’s a start! KZ, I know the box you describe, and I think it’s worth a try. We had one years ago, when Shaddo and Jiggs were young, but once they became elderly, we got rid of the top.
    Hi KJ – stay warm!

Hi KJ! Glad to hear you rested today, I would like to be able to do that, but Saturdays seem to be my day to catch up on things that don’t get done during the week while watching Avery. I am with you there in spirit if not in deed!
Joan, I saw a My Cat from Hell that had a Persian that had hip dysplasia, and Jackson Galaxy made him a litterbox that had the entire front cut out so he could just walk into and out of it. Because he was pooping and peeing outside the box. Poor guy was in pain and avoiding the box. So obviously, a box such as the one I described wouldn’t work for an old or infirm cat. I did go to the Pet Smart website and they had lots of choices for litter boxes and they ship to your house! I added a litter box when Willow came in and I recently moved it away from the other ones. He seems to be the only one using it, which is fine and it’s also good in case you have a litter box stalker since they can’t watch them all at once! I love that Mac is getting more comfortable with the other cats and the comings and goings of your household. Cats are so interesting, no one’s cats are exactly alike in how they like things, or don’t like things.
Buttons, I hope Noodle doesn’t jump on your stove, he’s only got one front leg that would take the brunt of the heat…ugh, but Willow really burned his paw good this time. I thought about spraying some bactine on a cotton ball and dabbing it on the pad.

    Waves at everyone 🙂

Joan, I use the cement mixing trays for litter boxes, get them at Home Depot or Lowe’s because the sides are about 5-6″ high and the corners are rounded so nothing sticks there and I have kickers and kitties who are bigger so sometimes they miss. Mac is sounding like he is enjoying being inside 🙂

The big grey outside kitty who runs like the wind when he hears me step outside has been sleeping next to the big bouganvilla plant (he should go underneath it would have to be warmer at night) in the dirt during the day, I put a small dish with kitty food out there and see that he ate some (yay).
