So glad the lost kit is safely back in the nest, and prayers for all that are still out there.
We had a major rain storm blow through today, and when it had passed, there was a little baby robin on the ground under its nest: poor little thing was totally drenched and could hardly move. Mr. PC was the one who saw it, and he brought it inside, we sopped up the worst of the water with paper towels and then just held him (her?) in our hands to try to warm him up. It worked! After about 15-20 minutes of taking turns holding him, he started to fluff up and opened his eyes. We put him in a box for a bit (with a towel over the top so he would be calm and rest), until the sun came out and we started to see birds flying around the yard. About that time, he cheeped a couple of times, loudly, so we put the box outside and watched from the doorway. He didn’t come out at first. then all of a sudden he fluttered up and sat on the edge of a big pot of zinnias I have on the porch and cheeped some more: calling for Mom, probably. Next time I looked out he was gone, so either Mom came and got him, or he just went off on his own. Quite an adventure for a little bird just learning to fly!

Dorry (who has decided to stay with me for the duration LOL) too eagerly volunteers to place himself between Miss Leela and Comet. On second thought might do better with your Vermont Teddy Bear as interlocutor (interlocatur?).
In the meantime when I should be readying for return to bed, am trolling the I’Net as decided that I need flat iron. Would think that I’m trying to find the Holy Grail!!! Hair is super short and curly, although dry it straight, need iron for longer piece on top, not wanting to spend much. Or deal with online ordering at present LOL. Will probably have to call/source out local chain stores tomorrow. So not a genuine problem LOL, but nice distraction.

Oh PC, you are my hero! How fabulous that you and Mr. PC saved that wee robin! I encountered an adult robin sitting in the middle of the road in January. I turned around and picked him (her?) up. Didn’t try to fly away, but didn’t seem injured. I was miles from home and the road was the only part of the ground that wasn’t covered with a couple of feet of snow. I guess the road seemed warm in theory, but I remember it being a bitter cold day when the sunshine didn’t warm anything. Thankfully I was able to get to a shrub and placed him on a branch.
What a robin was doing in NJ in the middle of winter is beyond me.

    RIP Tommy Ramone
Thomas Erdelyi (born Erdélyi Tamás; January 29, 1952 – July 11, 2014), better known by his stage name Tommy Ramone was the drummer of the influential punk rock band the Ramones for four years. Last surviving member of group and a godfather of punk. Love the Ramones. 🙁

Joan, sometimes I wonder what I’m doing here in IL in the middle of winter! Someone told me the robins here go to the deep woods during the winter: I don’t know, if I was a robin I believe I’d be heading for warmer climes as soon as the first cold winds started whistling!
Rain has stopped, Mr PC is sitting out on porch with Jes; think I will go join them. *fills virtual cup at the fountain to take with…*

My musical education is pretty sparse when it comes to punk, KJ, but sad to hear that…

…… Ramones …. the Omni, Atlanta 1979 …. been there, loved it! …. RIP Tommy!!

Happy Sunday Morning all! …… well done on saving the little Robin, PC! …. my grandfather was so good at saving birds and squirels that fell from their nexts …. he had a huge yard with lots of big oak trees, and we’d find many a wee one that he nursed back to health!

…. Welcome to all the newbies! …… fluffiest site on the net!

There’s a lot of rock & roll going on in Heaven today, the Ramones are back together.
Ugh, had to clean up neighbors garbage. Why do bears have to bring others’ garbage to my yard?? Will have to remind them of bear proofing garbage tips.

Hope the battery on the musical card I got doesn’t die before bff’s dau opens it. It cracks me up so I keep playing it! It says “Parties are fine, but nothing says Happy Graduation like… (open card) A musical kitten! Congratulations!” Inside is a kitten at a keyboard playing a little hillbilly jingle. The head and paws move with the music.

Yup Joan, the Ramones are together again, playing that head-banger music that KJ so loves. Along with Joe Strummer, Sid Vicious and too many more. 🙁
Wish I could be “fly on the wall” or kit in the corner when grad grrl opens card!

Turned out to be a great day for a beach party. Humid, but a nice breeze off the water. Grad’s aunt is a baker and made a really cool cake – a customized yearbook with custom grad hat (they decorate their hats these days) and a diploma. Lots of good food – my spud salad came out good & no leftovers. Thanks for the tip, AV!

GR8 Joan, but inquiring minds want to know how the “musical card” went over!

In more cat-related news, this cat escaped from losing one of it’s 9 lives by a whiskers-breadth! Cats rule!

Hi KJ – dunno, I put it in the basket with the other cards. There was music playing anyway. Will get feedback when BFF & I get together for her B-day.
