Joan, you found some real treasures. That cracks me up that Leela hissed and growled at the stuffed black cat. So it’s not just Comet…
Had a nice visit with hubby’s sister and her husband yesterday. She loves cats (has three) so she asked if she could meet ours. Sure, they’re shy, I told her. But we crept into the back of the house quietly and they were all asleep so she got to see and even pet each of them briefly…even ultra shy Emily.
She told me the stories of her three cats…all had fended for themselves outdoors before finding a human to care for them. One, who looks like Leo, showed up with a gaping neck wound, so she got to invest $600 up front to adopt that sweetie. But he rewards her every night with snuggles and purrs so loudly that she has to do her night time reading in the living room, since the purring keeps her husband up. They are all indoor/outdoor cats and the hunting stories are amazing. One night she woke up to the sound of one of them crunching into a flying squirrel right in her bedroom…lol. It actually gave me some encouragement about Lucy’s situation. Maybe she, too, will fend for herself until she finds the right human to help her.
