KJ, lol seemingly that is correct of the ones they have hired lately. It’s either total jerk-offs or know-it-all individuals who you can’t tell them anything because they have done everything but walk on water without it being frozen…..not that they have ever done the job before or anything close to it but hey why should that stop them! I don’t mind if one screws off as long as they actually know the job, ALL the work is done with and they do not endanger any of the law enforcement/agents out in the field….multi-tasking is a requirement and that means more than chewing gum and holding a pen in your hand at the same time….sorry I have done this job for 22 years (as a 9-1-1 operator and now dispatcher for agents) and it drives me nuts when people are just lazy at work….pls go somewhere else, like Walmart and stick stickers on kids foreheads, gather carts in the parking lot, make sure that the bbq’s are chained together…anything but work where you can actually hurt someone by their inattentiveness to the job.

100% agree Deb, in your place lives could easily be put at risk. Where I worked only egos could be bruised, and were, and often. Always hate it when I would “get” it and mgrs would not. And if I would get sarcastic or comment on how things could be improved I’d be told the corporate equivalent of “does not play well with others”. I’ll leave you for now with the (true) incident of our art director (total jerk) who actually got out a tape measure to ensure that he had the “right” amount of square footage for his exhalted position. The jokes flew left and right about “inches”, etc., the rest get too “not for younger audiences”. Had I not been there would have thought that this was outtake from “Drew Carey Show”. Hope that I made you LOL for a moment!

    Morning Joan *waves*
Hope you have a good Sunday. Off to spin class then a bit of shopping if I feel inclined (which I generally do). πŸ˜‰

Good Sunday Morning! I haven’t quite gotten off the ground yet, though it is a lovely sunny morning – quite a difference from yesterday. Comet is contently snoring on the bed in the sun, unaware that Leela is just a few feet away, tucked under the comforter on the floor.
The “Autumn Lights Festival” is going on uptown today, having been rained out yesterday. It’s probably fun, but I will be headed in the other direction down the valley. “ALF” is actually a celebration of the town’s first traffic lights! Think it’s been about 15 years. In an 80 square mile town, that’s kind of a big deal, I suppose. Also indicates how dense this state has gotten.
Deb, hope your shift is winding down soon and KJ, have fun spinning!

Good Sunday Morning all! ….. Joan, enjoy your ALF, I love local fairs ….. even in a large city, we have ‘localized’ neighborhood fairs …..
today, I need to get some ‘chores’ accomplished …. nothing big, a little Hazeling, a load of wash, change out the sheets …..
…. Deb, I can’t believe the ‘idiots’ that get hired to work with you …. I cannot stand laziness in the workplace, and you’re so right, in your field, lives could be at stake!

    Morning Joan and AV!

KJ, spin for me and throw in a twirl or two πŸ™‚

Joan, the ALF sounds like fun, at first I thought of the old tv show ALF πŸ™‚

AV, I should do productive stuff when I get home but may re-think that thought by the time I leave πŸ™‚

ARGH, I have issues with laziness in the workplace, really could care less if they screw off when ALL the work is done. But then again I am not PC nor have I ever been. Used to work for a LtCol who would tell people, please don’t ask SSG S (me) ?’s if you don’t want the actual answer, she won’t give you fluff answers to make you feel good…..loved working for that man πŸ™‚
I won’t train people here anymore because I am allegedly too mean since I actually expect the trainee to work and do the job right, no holding hands, no doing it for them because I can do it faster….hard to hold my tongue when I do see the hand holding, skipping thru tulip fields stuff, sigh.

Having a lovely day down the valley at mom’s. Won’t make it up to ALF, but that’s ok. Looks like brother will be adopting one of the “H” fosters, who are now 6 months old. Hanna has been checking out the house, mainly liking the living room so far.

Afternoon all! ….. Joan, I’m so sorry you didn’t make it to the ALF! maybe next time! Yay! for Bro adopting a foster πŸ™‚

Deb, I hope your shift ended un-eventful, and you can get some rest πŸ™‚

Hiya, KJ, KZ, EC, MS, Judith and anyone else lurking! ….

… Sundays are my ‘get creative’ day …. I usually cook a healthy meal (today’s is chicken and rice casserole with fresh mushrooms and herbs in the dutch oven) …. and I’m experimenting with the ‘dump cake’ recipe …. I’ve decided to switch it up a little and used cherry pie filling and dark chocolate cake ….. I will finish it with a quick fresh mint/cream whip ….. no idea in h#&& if it will be good, or a gooey mess, but Mr. AV is a great guinea pig, so I’ll let you know how it turns out

Abby has been on Hazel-Bob watch all day, as I’ve had it in many different rooms, working and (embarressingly) coughing up disgusting hairballs (ick!) … Cuddles has been her ususal napping self, can’t be bothered with things/events that don’t directly impact her personal genre …. LOL

Hi all! How sweet that Hanna is getting a home, Joan. Good to see you back, KJ…like your new centerpiece. I worked up the nerve to try a sprig of fake flowers in a vase on my dresser. Each cat tasted them to see…then decided to leave them alone…for good, I hope. The vase is, of course, puttied to the dresser, as are all our breakables.

Emily girl is making it hard to type, so bye for now. :). Oh, and soon I’ll be roasting some butternut squash for a purred butternut squash soup tonight.

    Hi ECB and AV,
Now there’s a good idea re breakables as at times Dorry likes to play hockey with my knick knacks, so far they seem sturdy enough, but one never knows.
Just got in from shopping expedition. When credit card statement arrives, might have to have my COA airbag ready to deploy, as amount might cause me to pass out, even though I know what’s coming LOL. Bought me 4 prs of boots. On sale and what’s more, realizing that I can easily fit into children’s sizes (as tiny feet) and saleslady told me that they make exactly the same style for women at at least double the price, if not more. So 2 styles all in different colours, one lace-up, but with convenient zip, and one sorta like Timberland, ie kick-a**, rugged. For under $140 all told. Plus I’m giving 6 prs of past-loved boots to charity, so it eases the guilt somewhat.
Joan, so happy that Hanna is getting a furrever home, and with your bro, no less! How are the “I” guys doing? Are the “J’s” coming anytime soon?
Deb, I’m proud to say that concerning work we very much seem to think alike. I have absolutely no time for carp. Case in point, back in corporate place we used to be forced to attend a “team meeting” ea Mon am to discuss how we were progressing. Some of the team were buddies outside of work, like going back to high school so for 45 min or so I’d have to put up with a rundown of whose cousin got married/had a kid/you name it. Think I came across as “why am I wasting my time here when I could actually be making the company money?” Very not PC. πŸ˜‰

Ivan just got a home. Ian is FIV+ bit hopefully he will find his home soon. No “J’s” yet. Love kittens, but how they come to be fosters is often sad.

Yay for Ivan! Hopefully Ian will find his furrever home too. Agree, ideally cats would not be having more and more litters and peeps would be more responsible, but as this is not the case, it’s great that there are those like your sis who are willing to spend the time and effort to find homes for these babies.

Deb, just watched vid of that grrl dancing – she is a phenomenon!!! A career in the making IMHO. BTW had “All About That Bass” as 2-day earworm, originally thought words were “no trouble” not “no treble”. LOL. Someone told me that there’s a book about misheard lyrics, “Excuse me While I Kiss This Guy” (J. Hendrix, Excuse me while I kiss the sky). Would be a fun read.

Every so often I receive a Hammacher-Schlemmer catalogue. Check this out. Ideal for the baseball fan who has “everything”. All leather, 44″ H x 39″ W x 28″ D. A steal for only $6,200 USD! Don’t think that I’ll find me one of these in the street. Not sure that I’d want to! πŸ˜‰

Nearly sleep time again. Have spent weekend fighting a cold and sleeping lots. Seems that the more I sleep, the more I want to sleep.
Dru’s ok. I am changing her over to a better quality food and we will have to see how that goes. My old cat is v set in his ways and he will have what he was expecting or nothing. He is vv determined. I was thinking that it is amazing how much cats like trash and then I thought, it is amazing how much I like trash too…..lolz. This site is helping so much to educate me re. our feline friends.
I am hoping for a quiet week but the first part is looking fairly crazy. Dru is getting spayed on Tuesday and I have the rest of the week as hols, so that is a good and wonderful thing.
Hi to everyone and all the kits. Sleep well,or enjoy your day (whichever suits best)!

… wow! just took the dark chocolate/cherry cobbler out of the oven … it smells amazing and looks really good, I hope Mr. AV likes it … too bad I have no palette or frame of reference for sweets …. I’m taking some fresh mint (just a little will do) and crushing it with my mortal/pestal, then incorporating it into some whipped cream (just a small carton) and a little confectionous sugar…. I’m pretty sure that flavor should compliment the chocolate and cherries…. maybe you chocoholics out there can weigh in?

KJ, that chair is certainly a white elephant! ….. it begs a very specific audience! LOL

    Hi all,
Well you can all laugh along with me, ’cause I am a major loser! You’ve heard of having “two left feet”? When getting my boot score this pm I packed up all 4 prs myself. As there were boxes everywhere – it would seem that I put two left boots in one box – just noticed it now. Checked for correct sizes, not correct feet! How embarrassing! And here I thought that I was expediting the sale. Will be fun calling store tomorrow as will be no prob exchanging for right foot (wonder if clerks, or another customer noticed as there’s no way to reach me in any case), but for sure I feel like a total fool as will have to make return trip to store – so much for saving time. My bad! πŸ™„
And Judith, if you come back into CafΓ©, hope that you feel better and soon, I just got over a bad cold, so not fun.

Hey KJ, come to think about it, do you know all of the words to Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog”? I could swear the one line is “ooh banana ohh ban ah”. Oh and that is some chair…for the fan who has everything!
Judith, I do hope you feel better and that you can kick that cold to the curb. Sending lots of good vibes to you.
AV, cherry chocolate with a hint of mint in confectioners sugar whipped cream sounds just right. Feel free to slip some thru the wormhole to a certain chocoholic in NJ. πŸ™‚
I am finally home, The cats have been fed but Comet is still telling me about his dissatisfaction with my absence. Brother is home, he left late this morning, and Jroc is probably just boarding her plane. It’s been a nice visit and mom really seems to enjoy having all her kids back at the family homestead.
Hanna has been at mom’s all afternoon and brother signed the adoption papers. She turned 6 months today. Stay tuned for a name change; I am sworn to secrecy.
And yes, Tom, as soon as I know her name and can get a picture that isn’t a blur, I’ll send it to you!
