Our café kits have planned a special weekend with an al fresco meal and games. First we show our respects at the parade in remembrance for the service men and women who have given all not only in the United States but also around the world. We also think of our beloved pets that are romping in the Meadow.

The grass so green, the sun so bright, life seems a dream, no worries in sight! We enjoy a gentle breeze while strolling to TDKland. We get a whiff of delicious noms the kits have been working on for our picnic. The tables are overloaded with hummus and pita chips, fruit salad and Bruschetta and that’s just the appetizers! We have baked ham and cheese rolls, chicken, tilapia and hamburger (veggie and meat), Parmesan grilled corn, potato salad and Black bean, corn and avocado salad. Desserts include salted caramel squares, Lemon bars, and Brownies and any kind of ice scream you want to eat.

All the while we think about and send warm thoughts to our friends in the cold climates preparing for winter.

The café kits have so many activities set up: a scavenger hunt for the best catnip around, charades and croquet golf. They had planned a game of badminton but all the birdies disappeared.

After all the fun we sit to enjoy a Raspberry Lemonade Kiwi Lemonade Spritzer and of course, ice tea.

    Cya and have a happy~

    OMG….that orangie, MS! Too sweet!

Thanks for a lovely cafe, PG! The birdies all disappeared…love it.

The kitchen is almost done…backsplash and a little trim work next week. Here’s Emily on the cat window seat.

We had a long weekend last week, not that it makes the slightest difference to freelancers. And Commonwealth countries honour the fallen and surviving veterans (and of course those who died later on in peacetime) at the same time on the 11th of November, Remembrance Day (which may go by other names elsewhere). Hope our friends in the States have a lovely holiday – and that the weather is pleasant.

Cats are impossible to discipline for use in battles like horses, mules and dogs (and camels in desert areas), but one place they come into their own is on ships, whether warships or the merchant marine.

https://www.usni.org/news-and-features/cats-and-the-sea-services from the US Naval Institute Cats on ships; some touching photos of tough sailors and marines with kittens and cats.

If you can’t decide then start in the middle, MS. 😆 I hope the rain has let up.

Oh I love the bay window, ECB. It appears Miss Emily has approved it as well!

Thanks for the link, Lagatta. I esp. like Mis-Hap.

OMG, what a gorgeous window and seat!! Absolutely love it!

I’m going to start at the beginning of that feast PG, and work my way to the end, where I may start over again…I have all weekend you know.. 😆

Hoping all have a relaxing Caturday. I’m going to bake a chocolate cake with salted caramel icing. Low fat of course and no calories…. 🙄 😀

I’m off to feed Peso and Mr. KZ. He is feeling better after 12 hours on antibiotics and ibuprophen 800 mg!!

Hi all – picnics, parades and all things happy are so important. Though Memorial Day is a solemn occasion, happiness is what our military has fought for.
My crew are coming through the wormhole, rolling a watermelon. It’s big and juicy and sweet, and they promise to leave it in the skilled paws of the agency chef kitties.
ECB, your window looks great – what a purrfect spot for bird watching!
I bought some marigolds yesterday. They are such happy flowers, and help deter critters from the garden. I also planted some sunflower seeds, and hope the birds/squirrels won’t get to them.

Good morning from Sunday, it is drizzly but not cold. I’ll take that.
We were woken at 3am by a very loud double clap of thunder and then nothing more. HRH Shadz woke with a start(as did I) and fled off the bed and didn’t return until almost 7am when she announced her arrival with a loud meow and woke me with a start. 😮 No more sleep so I checked out the news online and followed the first day of America’s Cup racing in Bermuda.
ECB, that wee orangie or ginger as we call them is totally adorable.
I love the cat window seat, what a fantastic place for them to watch the outside world. Will you have a bird feeder out there to add to their enjoyment.
Lagatta, great link on cats in the services. I love the names of some of those cats, Bilgewater ! and wee Mis-Hap.
PG, I would have tried starting in the middle but the table it was all set out on was round. 😯 😕 😳 😆 I coped though.
KZ, glad to hear Mr KZ is feeling better.
JJ, I like marigolds too especially in the vegetable garden as companion plantings to deter those nasties that would target my veg.
We have had so much rain this weekend but the temperatures have been higher which means hopefully that my Winter veg will still keep growing. Meegz has a sweet potato plot here or kumara as we call them. We thought they would be harvested by now but the plants show no sign of dying off, I will have to go down and do a bit of ‘bandicooting’ to see what lies beneath the luxurious green vines. Woohoo the sun is breaking through. Should I wake HRH who is deep in her beanbag or should I let her sleep. She is digesting a good amount of rabbit and then a large spoon of steak and kidney and a wee nibble of our breakfast bacon. Hmmmmm, what to do.

Hope all who have Memorial Day as long weekend are having good one – with the actual day as Monday – wait for it! 😉

KZ, good that Mr. KZ is on the mend!

PG, how are you doing, is muscle strain easing up some?

Dorry joined the kits for the ‘nip scavenger hunt – and by the looks of things he must have tried each variety that he pounced across! 😮 😎 😉

My feet (and rest of me) got srs rest today. Wore my awesome new 4 3/4″ platforms Thurs so feet did need rest. Relatively comfy shoes but after long day one wants slippers hehehe. Point is that they are awesome – I already said that. Most of my shoes have somewhat high wedges or heels, I just don’t do spike heels. I have to be able to walk and speedily for the most part.

Was sorta happy to see that my DIY painted blue chair got taken after I left at side of my bldg. Hope someone is happy with their street find! I think thta my new armchair is prob the most comfy bdrm chair I’ve had, now that it’s spruced up with seat cushion and back pillow. Ideal for knitting while watching TV, so I guess I’ll do this in bdrm more as option.

I don’t really do crafts or even read much in my bedroom as it is the inner part of a “salon double”; those double rooms in so many Mtl houses and flats. The outer part by the window and door to my balcony is my home office and I spend most of my time indoors there; there are two tables; one for the computer and writing/translating/editing, the other for drawing, painting or any craftwork, even mending or embroidering clothes. There are many green plants, and a mature Norway maple outside, and now the beginnings of this summers flowers and some of the herbs – only herbs the damned squirrels won’t eat (basil for example goes on the back balcony.

I can’t wear high wedges (or heels) any more but love the traditional Spanish espadrilles with a bit of a wedge.

We were supposed to do gardening work on the central front postage stamp, but it got called off; I had other work to do and am headed out to the market on my bicycle, with my saddlebags, fortunately on a bicycle lane. I’m out of COFFEE!!! 😯

Evidently it is important not to overuse ibuprofen, but it is a godsend, younger for horrible menstrual cramps, now for arthritic attacks.

So my alter ego is “Sound Cat” works for me! 🙂

Nice out today but supposedly we’re in for rain for rest of week. At gym they were doing some sort of outdoor street hockey game, grrls and boyz on same teams, nice to see.

So today’s chores involved switching over soft furnishings/accessories for mid-late spring. Going with a navy/white sorta theme. Took chance of washing duvet and pillows in home appliances. Seems to have worked, think that adding tennis balls to dryer was a good plan. And not washing stuff with a whole load of other stuff. Now the joy of getting duvet into it’s cover. Despite all the advice I’ve received it never seems easy.

Also time for end of month bill pay’t. And an opportunity! Would anyone like to pay all my bills this month??? OK, thought not!

Then I want to put srs time into charcoal cotton sweater as it’s way easy and I have plans to wear it to a stressful appt in a few (yes, I plan outfits in advance, and knowing that my look is purrticularly good helps an iota.) So my “hollyberry” cable sweater which requires concentration is on the back burner at least for today, methinks.

The party that turned cray cray is over,
The food and drinks are gone,
    Tricks only a Fraternity knows
We’re waking at dawn with an awful headache.

Every manner of nip was found and tested,
Nipping and hanging out, I feel as if we found Nirvana.

    Explaining the glitter and streamers,
Is not important because I’m at home
With my purr family…who love me anyway.

Thanks to all who came to play! 😉

Dorry thanks you for a memorable weekend – he’ll say no more – and it’s best that I not ask! 😉 Oh to be as carefree as kits in first pic!
