    Brrr … “Baby It’s Cold Outside” for some of us TDKrs . For those ushering in Summer your support and sympathy is greatly appreciated. In any case today’s Café is just the ticket to combat these chilly days. A gentle snow is falling outside and the bare tree branches are frost-kissed. Inside, a warm fire is blazing and there are plush couches and a pile of handmade quilts, plus handknit socks and slippers for the taking. The kitty staff is well-suited to providing cold weather comfort. Siberians, Norwegian Forest Cats and Maine Coons, nature’s very own lap warmers. On the menu steaming hot chocolate, coffees, teas, bread pudding, mac ‘n cheese, tuna melts … every comfort food you can imagine! Should we begin to succumb to drowsiness those Wegies will set our blood coursing with tails from those adventurous Sagas (in Old Norse, but no matter). Later, they might even be purrsuaded to throw together a smörgåsbord. And it has been said that purr-haps Main Coone kits came over on the Mayflower. Therefore, a piccie of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Young Goodman Purr-own” plus a group shot of Wegie staff kitties at a recent feast. (PS The tuxie in the back is already spoken for by KJ, sorry).

    Oooo, can I have the little creamsickle in the front looking hopefully up at the camera? Cute pics!
    The fog crept in on little cat feet here this morning, it stayed dark ’til almost 8:00. Jes is cozied up on the big armchair in the living room, and I’m stopping in for some hot cocoa and a donut before I join him.
    I need to light a fire under my fanny and get working on the baby quilt I’m making for my niece’s first baby. She’s due mid-November and so far I only have one block cut out (out of 12), let alone sew them together and quilt it! Don’t know why I always put stuff off, but it seems that I need a deadline to get me moving (and a short one seems to work best!)

    1 Wegie kit *reserved for PC* 🙂 You quilt, neat! I knit. And spin (well, on a spin bike). Hobbies rock! Agree Joan, just made sweater for friend’s (now) 2-month old. Presented it after baby was born. Handmade gifts always appreciated, anytime.

    I should never be allowed on the Amazon or Greater Good Animal Rescue sites….temptation to order books and other cute things are way too much…

    MINI FALL PUMPKIN PIE CROISSANTS These start with 2 tubes of Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls. Roll each crescent roll out and cut lengthwise in 2. This recipe will make 32 mini croissants. Each croissant will get a generous teaspoon of this luscious cream cheese pumpkin pie filling: 4 oz. (1/2 block) of softened cream cheese 1 cup of canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling) 1 – 2 T pumpkin pie spice (adjust to taste) 3 – 4 T sugar (granulated or powdered; adjust to taste if you want the filling sweeter) Beat the above ingredients together until fluffy and creamy and spread about one teaspoon of filling over each triangle of dough. Mix together 4 T sugar and 1 T pumpkin pie spice and roll each pumpkin pie croissant in it!Bake at 375* for about 13-15 minutes (this time is for on a baking stone) – you want them to be lightly browned and the dough baked through. ?     Yes Deb, Greater Good Site knows me all too well! 2 T’s 4 the gym: one says “Keep Calm and Rescue On” the other “Furry Friends Rule” are on their way to me even as I type this. But shelter kitties get fed from my $$$, so it’s all good, right *justifying unnecessary spending*.

    DOODS! (Channeling Max from “Psychokitty”) KM is posting a bunch of kittens from 2005! They are not on the home page, but if you look under ‘Show Me What’s Happening’ there are about 6 that he’s posted…so far. Such cuteness! Thanks KM!
