    CM – glad to hear that your cold is getting better! I know that sometimes it seems like they will never go away!

    Siobhan – I can sympathise with you on the monthly problems! The one silver lining about going through ‘the change’ is that eventually you stop having those monthlies! Hurrah!

    LK – Sorry about your toothache! An infected tooth can just be so painful! I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly! Will you need a root canal?

    I was at the dentist myself this morning, to see about a broken crown. Fortunately, the dentist decided that it was his fault, so he will replace it no charge. I am not looking forward to having it done, though!

    Leela says Hi too! She’s being her usual crazy kitten self. Construction guys haven’t been around for her to supervise. Apparently, we’re waiting for the lumber. It’s been a frustrating couple of months with this project. Now we’re down to 1 month to get it done enough to live in. We’re still there, since they haven’t done the major stuff yet. Meanwhile, my spring, fall and winter clothes are at the temp place and it’s getting colder. Yikes. Ok, I’ll stop now before I get myself too worked up!

    Hey Rubia, I’m on hold to Thomas Cook – 15 minutes and counting!!! I had to give up this morning (after 20 minutes) & take Mum to an appointment, but this time I am staying on this line til someone talks to me!!!

    MCW – OMG! They must really be having to scramble to rebook all those flights! We have not had any news either. Our tour company keeps saying they should know something by ‘the end of the week’, or ‘the beginning of next week’ or… Aarrgghh!

    Sorry CM, Thomas Cook is the tour operator we booked with – we haven’t heard a thing since my initial call, and that’s 12 days ago now. Time for some answers about our holiday!

    Morning, all!

    Hugs to all TDKers having a rough day, colds, dental issues, etc. Hope things look up soon.

    Hubby and I had a very New York adventure last night; we got last minute tickets to a Broadway show (Spring Awakening) and had to go running out the door. The show started at 7p, but we were home to George by 8 because we left before intermission – the show was AWFUL! Nothing but filthy, deliberately gross sex talk, interrupted by unintelligible songs (gah, I sound like an old fogey, but it really was bad). And this thing won multiple Tony Awards?

    So, home we came to a grateful cat and a belated dinner on our balcony. And I got the first decent night sleep I’ve had in what feels like a year – yay!

    MCW, you go get that travel agency, and don’t let them off the hook until you get satisfaction!

    Rubia, does your tour company hang out with my construction company? “We’ll know something by the end of this week or next week…” Ack! Oh and now it’s supposed to rain all weekend, hubby will be away, so nothing will get done. Leela and I will make the best of it; (despite the leeky house) rainy days and kittens can be lots of fun!

    Joan – I’m sure our holiday company must hang out with your construction company! I think our painter and electrician must hang out with them too. We are still waiting for some electrical work that was begun last March to be completed!

    RESULT!!!!!

    I got straight through on the other number, and spoke to a lovely helpful lady called Alison. She apologised that we hadn’t been contacted & said even they are having problems getting through to this other department at the moment, the lines are so busy.

    Anyway – she checked her system against our booking reference, and we have new flights!! For the same dates!!! And the same airport!!!! AND ONLY 5 MINUTES DIFFERENCE FROM THE ORIGINAL TIMES!!!!!!! Amazing! She said we were very, very lucky as some people have been/are being flown out from one airport and back into a different one. I guess with our holiday being in November they’ve had time to make better arrangements for affected travellers. We’ll get a letter confirming everything in the next few days.
