According to Wellcat.com, the creators of this Special Day, the objective is to call in “well” to your work. Or just take the day for yourself – and your kit(s).

Good morning from a foggy mountain in North Jersey! I believe stay at home because you are well days are also known as personal days. Unfortunately, many folks must use personal days for doctor appointments, kids are sick days, car won’t start days, etc.
It was a somewhat mild night last night so Dewey wasn’t interested in coming in. Mac couldn’t be happier to have the bed all to himself! He might come in later when the rain moves in. We got lots of drought-denting rain yesterday and hopefully the reservoirs will get more today. It boggles my mind that it takes officials so long to declare a drought watch/warning/emergency. Everyone knew in the summer that water should be conserved. *steps off soapbox*

Morning everyone! It’s another day of 60* temps and clouds. Not complaining though. Was supposed to rain, but it went south, I hope to those neighbors who have wildfire burning out of control. I don’t know where my head has been, but was shocked to learn yesterday of the horrible fires in Tennessee, destroying Gatlinburg and Pidgeon Forge! That’s some scary s*%t!!

Willow and Avery are napping on the bed at the moment, so I need to go in search of more coffee. Later! Have a great start to your day all!

    Morning all,

Or just about noon here! Same gloomy, foggy weather here too JJ.
Would be nice to stay at home. But leaving soon for Philo Course, then back, then gym. Just hope lecture is not as heavy as last wk, ie that we’re on to next topic. For Winter Session I’m taking “British Palaces and Country Houses” much lighter, and I might even get some interesting DIY ideas! 😉 But was good to get an intro to philosophy, I’m just not all that interested in Modern Philo which is follow-up course. Plus I prefurr a class in in the am.

Hey PG – guess what starts again tonight? Yes, “Vikings”. To PVR, or to watch like tomorrow. Hmmm … 🙂 😉

The Navy didn’t approve of “personal” days. In fact, I had to be bleeding from my toes before I went to the clinic. 😮

Mac is delighting in his (potential) bro being outside. Were you able to set up a more protected area for the gang?

That wee kittah wanting explanashuns is adorable. I didn’t find pictures so here’s a few to (hopefully) make your Wednesday. M

The Tennessee firestorms are so scary. It was hours that the fires begin and tore across the state. Thankfully, there were limited fatalities. The worse part is a fire marshall thinks they may be “human caused!” I hope Dell isn’t affected by the smoke.

The kits, mostly Miss Moppet, are crazy rip snorters today. I’m going to clean *sigh*

    Have a happy~

Oooh KJ, British Palaces and Country Homes sounds very interesting! I visited several of both as an exchange student in ’79. I remember lots of stone and turrets! Oh and moats!
Unfortunately wildfires are often started by a cigarette or spark of some kind. I think the rain and lightning strikes came after the fire already started, not sure though. Heard that employees at an aquarium had to be forcibly removed, as they didn’t want to leave the animals behind. Later learned that all the animals are okay. I worry about wildfires up here too; there was one burning a few weeks ago not far away. Thankful to see rain falling again today.

Afternoon everyone! I’ve missed ya’ll. We made it back from LV safe and sound. Took the red-eye Monday, and got in about 5am yesterday ….. slept a lot to catch up …. had a great time with son, he looks great and was headed out when we left to fly to NYC on his boss’s private jet …. he’s living large!
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving, we ate at a 4 star restaurant on ‘the day’ …. also got to eat the famous chicken-fried lobster at the top of Binions restaurant …..
Sounds like everyone is having a grey/rainy day …. we have been so dry, but it finally rained a little today …. my plants were gasping!
Handy Scottie takes good care of Abby and Caddy while we’re gone, so they were fine, but of course glad to see us ….
Well, I’ll have to read back threads to catch up on everything – isn’t Mr. Olta sweet! …. I could be wrong, but it looks like in that picture, he might be a polydactyl?

Hi all. Those stay at home days are referred to here as ‘mental health’ days. Usually spent doing something you love doing like fishing or just reading a book.
JJ, fog. Sometimes it can be nice but other times it’s annoying. I used to live in a province that was foggy most of the Winter. We were lucky if we even saw a peep of the sun. As for the drought warning, the same thing happens here. Everyone knows that water needs to be conserved but officialdom sure takes it’s own sweet time announcing that there is a drought.
Terrible pics from Tennessee and Alabama with the fire and tornado. I can’t understand how people can intentionally set fires during dry seasons.
Enjoy your lecture KJ. I attended one yesterday all about painkillers, how they work(if that is known) side effects and types. It was really interesting. I would never have thought a lecture on painkillers would keep a crowd interested for 80 minutes but this one sure did.

PG, love the wee kitty trying to tell a joke. giggle giggle.
Thanks for the Mr Olta Minnesota news and now that he has conquered the couch nothing is impossible. Great news about the recruiting company too. All paws and fingers crossed.
JK, loved that vid on kitmas purry preparation. Reminds me of Shadz first year with us and she almost lived in the Christmas tree and it’s a fake tree too.

    🙂
Welcome back AV, sounds like son is living the good life.
oh I see what you mean about Mr Olta’s paw.
It’s a cloudy but hot day here, had a few skiffs of rain but not enough to even put the wipers on on the car.

Mr. Ólta Minnesota is growing up to be one handsome dude. I count more than 5 toes too! Good to hear about Button’s job prospects too – hope things work out! 🙂

Paws up for pouring in my n’hood too. But I was so out of myself after spin class that I walked home in downpour and didn’t even notice it, or rather didn’t mind it. Natural high? Purrhaps! 😉

While I certainly don’t feel seriously ill, I’ve been headachey since this morning and am looking forward to turning in with Livia.

KJ and others, I want this slouchy béret. In deep red:

Lagatta, the beret is gorgeous. And a fantastic sale price too! It’s quite complicated to make, what with all the cables. IMHO you should treat yourself! Hope that you feel better by morning. I’m turning in with Dorry too. Pouring rain – conducive to sleep.

PG, just finished watching “The Fall.” Missed Seasons 1 and 2 but I’Net helped me catch up. Dark – very, even for me! 😉

    The woman and deer-ok.
Welcome back AV. So glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Son.

I love the beret but I just don’t wear a hat well. I don’t have the poise to wear one.

Wait until Season 3 on The Fall, KJ.

thanks a million PG for posting up Mr Ólta’s pic 🙂

He’s doing just great! He’s such a clever boy and come in every morning to bed to give us lost of wet nose kisses and love bites! in fact that’s how he wakes Mr B up !

Well now Ólta’s paws are different and I haven’t found an explanation for it yet or any other examples.. But he’s not a polydactyl.. A his toes however are freakishly long! Any research I’ve done gives polydactyl as an explanation but he doesn’t have extra digits just very unusually long toes on his front and back paws.. we noticed it almost immediately when we got him and it’s being puzzling me ever since.. Both vets say they’ve never seen anything like it so they can help.. luckily though being a CH baby it’s the best “Genetic fluke” he could have developed those long toes grapple into anything soft and act like a stabiliser 🙂 I’ll see it I can get a good pic of them..

oh I could be waiting a little while for more correspondents from the recruiter but here’s hoping!

Here’s a picture when Ólta was about 12 weeks old.. you can see him grappling the rug but you can also see his paws toes are very different. back ones are the same too maybe even more obviously longer than normal I’ll get a better pic today…it’s like he has human hands!

His hands are very human-like Buttons! And he is beyond adorable!

PG, it was the Season 3 eps that I saw. And the Finale of series. Creeped me out and that’s saying something!

yes that’s exactly it KJ ! from what i can understand it is a form of polydactyl type deformity but it’s an advantage for him.. his due claw is the same length as the rest and I’ve read that could be possibly called mittens polydactyl even without the addition of extra digits .. there’s also a form of polydactyl where a cats toes are too short and stubby technically the opposite of Ólta
