Yeah, might have to get them now. Not boots to wear in the snow, but a type I like to wear. Short, look good with jeans or dress slacks.
In the snow, it’s workboots around these parts!

… there’s a whole lot of hissing, window hitting going on at my house at the moment …. Abby is ‘fighting’ JoJo through the french doors ….. LOL

… Joan, I just ordered and received the nicest pair of weather (snow/rain) proof boots, on line. My ex-ballerina feet need extra wide to accomodate the bunions, but I was very please that these fit and are so comfy … lined with faux furr too 🙂

… KJ, Joan and anyone else in the cold regions, I hope you all stay warm! … it was 84 here yesterday, today only 74 and tomorrow 60 …. crazy rollercoaster weather!!!

… Tom turkey is in the oven, and I’m chopping/prepping everything else for tomorrow. The more I can make ahead of time, the easier it is for me …. enjoying cooking and listening to my tunes …. a nice day 🙂

Won’t say anything unfluffy but geez!
Oh well, I’m headed out to patio to hide out…wake me in about 1/2 hr …thanks!
C’mon Tux, to the lounge chair!

EC, I really do enjoy these days! …. I’m chopping everything and bagging it, so that all I have to do tomorrow is put the dishes together and pop them in the oven. The turkey I’m doing today, then I take all the meat off the bone and place it back in the pan and cover it with gravy; then seal with foil. Tomorrow all I have to do is heat it up in the oven, and it’s as moist and juicy as can be! …. these are things I’ve learned over the years, and they make the day pretty much fool proof 🙂 ….. same with the brisket for Hanukkah/Christmas …. day before cook, heat up the day of celebration …. works every time!

My sides this year are: Mac n cheese (Mr. AV’s family tradition); Sweet potatoes; Squash; Butter beans; Rice; Dressing; Cranberry salad. Dessert – pumpkin pie (of course) and Apple cobbler, ice cream and whipped cream for both …..

…. I’m predicting a food coma tomorrow in the AV household 😉

…. oh yeah, and Abby is very ‘brave’, with the french doors between them ….. JoJo is quite a large Orangie, don’t know want to test a real interaction ….. I think she’s jealous cause I give him some of her crunchies (which she onlys gets as a treat) LOL

Our routines are similar, AV. I make the turkey the day before too. Putting it in gravy is a good idea. And thanksgiving morning I have multiple ziplocs of chopped celery, onion, etc… chopped the day before. When you’re cooking the whole feast it takes a lot of planning and some compromise….like not having the turkey fresh out of the oven. That’s the way my grandma did it so it doesn’t bother me. Another I make is frozen pies….I love baking but something’s gotta give and I think the frozen pies, if you buy the right brand, are yummy.

I will be peeling and cubing the potatoes tonight, then cooking and mashing them tomorrow. Will also make a cornbread stuffing and a stuffing with spices and fresh cranberries.
My house smells awesome – just made gingerbread cake! Really sets off the atmosphere with the snowy weather outside. About 6 inches have fallen so far – it’s supposed to snow till about midnight.
Mac may not totally realize it, but he is one lucky kitty!

    Mmm…sounds yummy Joan!
Finishing up around here…may have time to bring out office tree to start Holiday decorating at this place.
Not much fussing – just yearly ritual.
If don’t have time to peek in later…wishes for all to enjoy – stay safe -behave!

Checking in after a blip in the cable/internet here – hope everything stays on. Governor declared a state of emergency. Not a surprise – this is a classic nor’easter. Helps remind non-essential peeps to get off the roads and let the plow folks to clear the roads. Hubby figures he will wait till either late tonight or early tomorrow to clear off the truck and driveway. Priority now is clearing path yo woodpile.

Wow Joan, just checked out weather and yeah, your area is all of a sudden in serious Winter mode. Not a competition by any means, but we’re not all that far from NJ and grass is back (not the kind that some smoke LOL), no precipitation predicted for like at least 2 wk trend either. But not to worry, we’ll get ours LOL. Does storm put a crimp in peeps Tksgiving plans? Like if you’re headed down hill, take extreme care. And Mac, Dorry advises his NJ pal to stay in where it’s warm!

EC, Joan, we DO enjoy our cooking days! …. Tom came out of the oven purrrrfectly 🙂 …. now letting him cool before the deboning ….

…. I too buy the pumpkin pies from Publix bakery – they are made fresh, and so yummy! I make the apple cobbler from scratch, but truthfully, I couldn’t make a better pumpkin pie! ….

…. and Joan, don’t you love the ‘smells’ of the season! … stay safe and warm, my friend! …hope the power shortages get resolved for everyone!

…. just put Hazel/bob in the fourth room for the day, and he/she is hard at work! …. what a pleasure to not have to micro-manage-vaccum these days !

Roads should be better tomorrow. Travel conditions not ideal, but will be giving my new all wheel drive truck the test run.
And yes, KJ, you usually get socked before us. We are usually on the receiving end of Canada’s Alberta clippers, which are always quite cold. Nor’easters are more moisture, thus more precip. It’s all rain down in south Jersey by the coast. May be all rain in NYC by now too.
    It was 70 degrees F 2 days ago, sigh…
On the upside, yes, the house smells great! And the woodburner is so cozy – I’m wearing a t-shirt, Comet is in his “nest” behind the woodpile and Mac is in front of it. I wish Leela would go and enjoy it like she used to, but Comet will bug her. She seems curious about Mac, coming down the stairs just enough to look at him. He looked at her too, giving her the slow blink, awww!

Squeeee! Mac gave Leela a slow blink! Love it! I’m so glad he’s inside with you for the snow, Joan. Snow plus gingerbread smell sounds divine.

    Cute little tree, JK.

Paws Up, MS is in the house.
Buttons, love the vid of Ms Moneypenny playing. Shadz has one of those toys but looks at it and then flicks us the stunk-eye and walks off. She is definitely an outside cat even when she is inside.
Woah Joan, that much snow in a short time. I hope the power stays on. Yay Mac for improving your aim.
Just reading about everyone’s preparations for Thanksgiving and the wonderful aromas. It made me think about Christmas food preparations and how because it is summer at Christmas here we don’t have those wonderful hot aromatic foods. Christmas smells are bbq’s and sunscreen and baking ham We have a sunny windy day here o if anyone wants some warmth feel free to pop through the wormhole and laze on the balcony.
Must go and move a pile of bricks that I want to use in the garden.

Hmmm, perhaps I’ll change the Christmas menu this year, though I’m not entirely traditional to begin with. A Christmas ham is tradition, but instead of yams and 801 other sides, I pan fry fresh Pierogies from the polish store. Sides consist of corn, apple sauce (hubby’s mom always serves it and I enjoy incorporating something of hers into my holiday dinner, and rolls. Desserts vary every year, depending on what catches my eye that I can make. Perhaps we’ll have corn on the cob and lemonade this year and put in a Jimmy Buffet cd!

Bundled up and trudged to the mailboxes. Had to jam myself between a snow-weighed branch and the mailbox cluster to get at my mail.
