Born on April 26, 1900, American seismologist Charles F. Richter invented the Richter Scale in 1935. This measures the amount of energy released by an earthquake by measuring the magnitude or seismic waves produced, from 0 to 9.

    Crossover pic –

Quake Cats is a new book filled with heart warming stories of what happened to Christchurch cats during the devastating earthquakes of 2010/11.
Our dog used to sense quakes and turn in circles but our cats haven’t been that definite about them, their reactions have been very subtle.

Only joking, I use my cuckoo clock chains.

I know what earthquakes are, luckily not destructive quakes first hand but I have been rocked off a chair during a M6.5 quake in 1987 and felt many smaller quakes over the years. It is part of living in NZ really.

Good morning! No thanks, I don’t do earthquakes. Felt one when I was young, the refrigerator moved a bit and I guess to you MS, that would be a tremor! Scary stuff and I do believe that animals can sense things way before we humans can. Leona hides when a thunderstorm is coming….I think she can feel the vibrations of the thunder way before it gets to us. She growls and goes under the sofa… 😳

Another warm day up in the 80’s…I have windows open and the cats are in heaven watching all of the goings on outside the bird feeder window. They have been seeing chipmunks too, that’s the problem when you feed birds — other little creatures appear — they just need to stay out of the walls of my house!!

Good morning – I live near the Ramapo Fault system, which produces lots of minor activity but rarely anything that can be felt. The last one I felt was in the summer of 2011. I did hear the boom of a minor one not too long ago.
My little baby is doing ok. No poop yet, but he hasn’t eaten anything solid. He loves the syringe feeding (he refuses a bottle), but is drinking from the bowl as well. Will try the food/milk mix again today. We don’t know how old he is, maybe 4-5 weeks.
Oh and I’m pretty sure his name is Aslan, after the lion from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Hubby suggested Ajax though, which is a cool name for a white cat.

JJ, Aslan is neat name. Ajax is kewel too, he was a hero in the Trojan War. You do realize that you will then have 2 kits on premises with names of cleansers? I keep Ajax and Comet in my hazeling stash. πŸ˜‰

I think we’re on an earthquake fault line, but nothing has happened so far and I hope that it never does!

Afternoon all! …. I’ve never been in an earthquake, but I’ve lived through my share of Hurricanes! ….
Today is the last semi-low humidity day here for us, it’s heading way up the rest of this week, and so are the temps! …. 90s are just around the corner!

I’m looking for Caddy’s cat tree today or tomoroow, I’m very excited about it! Handy Scotty will help me put it together and probably retro-fit a super stable base for it ….. I’ll nip it to add extra attraction, and I forsee her spending many of her hours there πŸ™‚

Abby is mad at me right now, I accidently bought a can of pate which I just tried to give her for lunch, and she’s not having it! …..been in here 5 times talking about it (asking me to wash that s###t out and put her gravey lovers can out) LOL

Paw up – PM Waves on a grey/was drizzling day!
Not much shaking around here. MS – thanks for fun FYI Earth Quake Detection Kit – hope you won’t have to use it again too soon!

Well my li’l Kiki visited me again this AM! Yup, treated me to leg rubs, chirps & even let me pick her up for about 1/2 min. with purrychirps…what a furry sweetheart. (She may be someone’s kit – looks clean w/o ear issues or clip.) That’s ok…probably more than 1 2-timing kit in the n’hood!
Kit mewomy on rainy day πŸ™‚

OK, back to part 2 day 3’s fun – woot woot…later

    Hi Efurryone,

They’ve recorded minor earthquakes in Colorado but I’ve never noticed one.

I sympathize with people who suffer through earthquakes. It’s so short of time yet unimaginable destrution. Mother Nature doesn’t give hoomins an option-earthquakes, hurricanes, avalaches. We have to bond together to help each other out. I have no idea why I went on like that…

It’s good Aslan is doing well. I think he should be our Daily Kitten, JJ.

OMG, AV! How could you? You know you did it on purpose! πŸ˜† πŸ˜‰

We had a wonderful rain yesterday evening and it was in the 30s this morning. I’m loving it. We’re suppose to get snow this weekend.

Miss Gaea finally took her pissy pants off. I put my soft robe btwn the pillows so she could knead it. She spent most of night snuggled by me.

I’m going to my great nephew’s final concert this evening. Have a happy~

KJ, I thought about the Comet/Ajax connection too! Both names are really fitting, but when I hear that wee roar I lean toward the lion’s name.
I’ve taken a few pics, but photographing a kitten is about as challenging as raising them. When I get a few good pics I’ll submit them to TDK for sure!
