KJ…pavlova was named for anna pavlova 🙂

The dessert is believed to have been created in honour of the dancer either during or after one of her tours to Australia and New Zealand in the 1920s. The nationality of its creator has been a source of argument between the two nations for many years, but formal research indicates New Zealand as the source

Hi Nirmal! They were tasty – got them from a local polish store. I boiled them and served them with whipped topping.
My work in the kitchen is done. Now I’m snacking on the other dessert tray I assembled that we didn’t get to – m&ms, kisses, chocolate covered cherries and cookies.

Sorry I disappeared earlier, I was dragged away.
Desserts, there is now written proof that the pavlova first appeared in print in an NZ cookbook so the Kiwis have claimed that disputed dessert and the Aussies can lay claim to the Lamington.
Ohhhhh Jane and BB, I made(bought 2 chocolate sponge rolls) and spread one with cheesecake filling then canned cherries that I had steeped in black cherry bourbon and the other had chocolate mousse with sliced strawberries.
Commune, those desserts look great especially the Beigli.

my grandad was half indian half polish (his dad was polish), so all that european stuff was not considered ethnic to us. oddly enough the eastern foods were the exotic stuff…anyway…..

were the perogies just blueberry stuffed or was there potato in it too? frankly, im for just the blueberries, but i wouldn’t be surprised i they snuck the potato in too…although it woulnd’t taste horrible, just…um….interesting.

Love the food chats on here, it’s a great way to learn about things I probably wouldn’t hear about otherwise.
Had a lovely evening with the KK’s eating leftovers from yesterday and watching the Dr Who Christmas Special for 2013.
