Good morning! Sophisticated wine ritual…I like that. :). Great theme and pics today. I like picking up the occasional bottle of wine. It’s a tasty, affordable ($5-$6 per bottle is my price range…lol)and relaxing way to add a nice touch to dinner.

Hope everyone has a happy hump day today!

I’m going to have to make something out of this ‘wine’ day…wine is my preferred ‘high powered’ beverage as I don’t really like liquour. Maybe a gin and tonic on a hot summer day, but I usually don’t have the tonic or the lime so….. 😆 I have a bottle of good red wine and sometimes after Avery leaves, I could use a glass. Hahaha…but it usually puts me to sleep.
Gotta get crackin’ == see you all later!

    Hi KZ *waves*
You said it yourself – not having the addy’s on hand you could just drink the gin all by itself! Hehehe.
Another summery day here – yup 4 days or so into real heat and peeps complaining about how they prefurred the cold of Winter – same peeps complain throughout that season too. I like living in a country with changing weather as one can ameliorate situation somewhat, A/C on/off, same with heating. And for fashion reasons, natch. Need a goodly time to sport my x prs of boots/sandals/loafers etc. And the knit sweaters. I do same cable sweater for diff seasons. Now the Pima cotton versions are getting their moment to shine. LOL
Tomorrow “they” have smog warning predicted. Guess I’ll know what it would be like if “Hollywood” ever calls me for my not-so-brilliant script ideas and I have to high-tail it to lala-land on a moment’s notice, Dorry in tow! 😉

Hi everyone – I like the occasional glass of wine…sipped thru a straw like posh cat! And yes, you are not drinking alone if there’s a cat in the house!
Headed into some warm temps here in Jersey too for the next few days. Sure, I’ll complain about it, but I’ll also make no secret of wineing (um, whining!) in the winter too.
Fond memories of Jiggs this time of year. The long strands of pollen are everywhere. They explode at the touch. Jiggs would come in from outside with his tail looking weighed down with it. Of course, when I ran my hands down him in an attempt to remove all the pollen, it would make a huge mess!
Getting ready for the family to descend on mom’s this weekend. Family from the west coast, Midwest and mid-Atlantic will be here at some point next week. There will no doubt be much wine consumed!

Yesterday, Miss Gaea spotted something in the bushes. I didn’t see what it was but it went over the fence. She raced over there, checked something and came racing into the house. She didn’t want to go out for the rest of the evening and this morning she was very caution going out this morning.

After spending a decade in New Mexico, I really enjoy the changing seasons.

I’m going to mow the front lawn. ECB-I enjoy the exercise but lawn/yard maintenance is in my lease so I have to do it.

    Have a happy~

Wonder what Miss Gaea spotted that has made her cautious/anxious. Hmmm…
Have been pulling weeds and trimming. Not my favorite thing on a hot day but the weeds will only continue to climb, best to get at them early. Working in the shade and watching for poison ivy, spiders and a few other things.
We just might have a pool this season. The electric company is down there hooking us up to the pole. Next will be plumbing and then cleaning and painting of the pool. Then the pool gets filled with lake water and treated. The goal is to have it up and running when school lets out around mid-June.
Comet is still sneezing and shooting boogers. Maybe the meds just need a bit more time to kick in.
Oh those lilacs look beautiful, JK – I can practically smell them! Mine didn’t bloom again this year. Cut them way back a few years ago so I guess they need a few years to recover. Think I’ll take a break on the patio with a tall glass of pink lemonade. Nice…

JJ, my Maxwell has a chronic uri. Has had it ever since a cat that was dumped here passed it to all my cats. All the other cats have come and gone, but Max still has it. I’ve treated him with vet prescribed antibiotics, he’s had shots, and l-lysine. Sometimes it seems to back off, but he always has it. He will do the marathon sneezing blowing green boogers too. I feel sorry for him, but there’s just nothing I know how to do for him. 😥

Aww, poor Max. I think my Emily is getting to that point too…not quite that bad yet. She was the last one to fall victim to it, I thought she would escape it altogether. But I think maybe Lucy had a different herpes strand and she got that one. Now Emily is the worst. I up her lysine and that helps but it never goes away for long. She’s never gotten vet treatment for it, but I do mention it to the vets she sees. Joan, what sort of shot was it that helped Comet last time? Antibiotics?

I love Lilacs and they smell ever so beautiful JK. Thanks

Thanks for the info, KZ. Poor Max. The vet feels this us a mild symptom of herpes, and as long as Comet doesn’t lose his sense of smell, and no one else gets sick, I guess it’s okay.
ECB, the shot he got is called Comvenia. I thought it worked within 24-48 hours last November, but perhaps it was longer.

Well, I’ve got a baby blue jay in a box outside, rescued from one of the triplets. I built a little nest and hopefully the frantic parents will come back in the morning.
The raccoons are coming really close to me, looking for a handout. All with Louie lounging blissfully on the chair!

    Good afternoon all.
Had to chuckle at KZ gin and tonic recipe. Sounds perfect on a hot day. 😉
It’s been a cool morning with the occasional quick shower of rain and now the sun is out but still with the threat of showers. Found Shadz lolling on the balcony on her back with her feet in the air soaking up as much of the sun as possible.
KJ, humans are never happy with the weather whatever is may be like. We have been promised warmer more Autumnal weather next week after this weeks shock depths of Winter style weather with snow in the south.
JJ, sounds like a weekend of fun and laughter and fond memories ahead of you. Wow pollen in long strands? What sort of plant has pollen like that? It must be terrible.
PG, love the ‘mixed vintage’ pic. I wonder what was in the bushes that frightened Miss Gaea so. I enjoy the lawn mowing now – now that we have someone else do it for us. It used to take well over an hour to do. I should sit and sip a wine while our lawn man does his job next time.
JK, ThuD ! Lilac ! It is so beautiful and I can almost smell it.
JJ, want to pop into the cybermobile and come and weed my garden? It is in dire need of weeding, I have lost my red cabbage and cauliflower plants in the weeds. This morning I have been creating individual hot houses for my late vegetable plantings in tubs. I am using U shaped bamboo with heavy plastic bags over to help protect the plants and warmth. Time will tell if it works.
JJ having the pool this year will be wonderful after last years fault. I guess there will be some community days where everyone bands together and gets the cleaning and painting done. Comet you poor boy, still sneezing and shooting boogers. 🙁 Things will improve soon.
I am keeping Shadz Lysine up, 1000mg a day or day and a half. She now sniffs it out in her kitten milk and then cleans the lot up. I seriously believe that she knows it is helping her stomatitis.
JJ, awwwwwww a baby bird. I hope the parents do come back for it and feed it. Wow your backyard is certainly full of wildlife.
Heading for the patio and a cup of tea.

Hi MS – love the image of Shadz lounging with her feet in the air!
I think the strands of pollen are oak. It’s everywhere! The cats like to roll around and they get covered with it.
Oh I’d love to visit and help weed, but there’s much still to be done at my place.

Oh I wanted to tell you JJ, that lilacs always bloom on old wood, meaning if you cut them back, they won’t bloom until next year! I remember this every year which is why I don’t cut them back! 😆

That sounds familiar, KZ. The ones got too tall for neighbor and I to reach though. Maybe it’s for the best; though I love the smell of them, they do give me a headache and a sore throat. I can’t resist the smell though!

Weeding is out for today, rain is almost here.
Guess I will have to go and make up Airy’s bed, she will be visiting for the weekend. I haven’t told Shadz yet but she will be so excited to have her sister home.
