Back in the day of film based cameras, some cameras had a delay feature on the camera. You could set the camera up on a table or tripod, aim it, and press the delay button (usually ten seconds). Then, you had to run to where the camera was aimed and pose. They were not called selfies. Although, some people referred to them as “self-portraits”.

Today, selfies are extremely popular. Millions of them are taken each and every day. It kind of makes you wonder why we need a special day to encourage us to take a selfie.

I remember the 10 sec. delay and those pictures never came out very well. The selfies look as if the kit is taking the picture…maybe they are and put them a private iCloud account so I can’t see them. Hmmmm I love the cat and fire.

This is how my selfies come out!

I’m helping my neighbor install her home theater system. 1 am and it’s still hot in the house. I don’t like running the evap. cooler at night and the kits don’t like it either but it’s so hot. Gasp!

    Cya and have a happy~

hey big boy why don’t you come up and see me sometime.

Oh I remember the 10 second delay, my uncle was always taking family photos when we all got together. I know the talking with all the other cousins we were all hoping he would fall over getting back to his seat and we would have a pic of him looking anything but his usual button-downed self. It never happened though.
PG, love the Happy Humpday pic. Turning fan in your direction to shoot some of our chilly air over to cool the hot to warm. Sorry there may be a little rain caught up too.
We have the fire going and are settled back after dinner watching TV.

Hello everyone! I’m not one much for taking selfies. I don’t photograph well at all. I have to laugh (my granddaughters included) are ALWAYS taking selfies…I just can’t figure it out. Why? 😳

Well, Peso has his first real checkup with new vet today. Avery and I will be taking him together. I had to clean up the cat carrier since Mr. KZ had left it in the garage and it was pretty funky. We may even stop for an ice cream on the way home!

    Afternoon all!

KZ, I’m with you on selfies. I don’t see the point. Then again it seems that so many peeps are glued to their cell phones with little regard for anything else. *Sigh* Yet somehow we managed before.

Hope that wee Peso’s exam goes well. I vote for the ice cream – for you and Miss Avery – guess not for Peso, although my vet always gives Dorry a good handful of treats after his physical.

So thankfully my fix-it guy has the part req’d to fix my toilet and plans to be here in an hr or so. And I have landlord’s approval for repair. Lifting the lid off everytime I need to flush, well it’s just a bit of an effort and I don’t like to have to plan my excursions. OK, TMI.

Hi all – happy summer solstice! And a happy winter solstice to you, MS.
PG, my selfies look like that too.
Good luck with Peso’s first v-e-t visit, I bet the office staff will love him! I vote for ice cream too.
I’m not into selfies at all. The few I’ve taken are mostly of me hiding behind a cat.
Brutie’s selfie is perfect, very pretty flowers too!
Glad you are getting the toilet fixed, KJ.
It’s taken me quite a while to post, partially because I’m typing on my little phone, and partially because I’ve got a kitten being very kitteny around me!

Waves to Joan – give li’l kitteh a smooch from me too Joan!

One more FYI on Summer Solstice:
    Litah Mead Summer Solstice
    Litha – Summer Solstice
Litha: Summer Solstice – 21st/22nd June
Litha (Midsummer, Gathering Day, Summer Solstice, Alban Heffyn, Feill-Sheathain)
Incense: Sage, mint, basil, Saint John’s Wort, sunflower, Lavender
Decorations: Dried herbs, potpourri, seashells, summer flowers, and fruits.
    Colours: blue, green, and yellow
    The Fire Festival of Litha
Midsummer or the Summer Solstice is the most powerful day of the year for the Sun God. Because this Sabbat glorifies the Sun God and the Sun, fire plays a very prominent role in this festival. The element of Fire is the most easily seen and immediately felt element of transformation. It can burn, consume, cook, shed light or purify and balefires still figure prominently at modern Midsummer rites.
Most cultures of the Northern Hemisphere mark Midsummer in some ritualised manner and from time immemorial people have acknowledged the rising of the sun on this day. At Stonehenge, the heelstone marks the midsummer sunrise as seen from the centre of the stone circle.
(In case you want to celebrate!)
Aw MS…hang in there for it is now the Winter of 2017 for you… 😯

Haven’t been on hete regularly in awhile but thought I’d let everyone know it appears Cheryl “Cheri” Hoyt has passed away. I know she had issues but she was one of us here. God grant her peaceful rest.

Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear this. Thank you for letting us know, Marnet. I was just thinking of her.
Velvet and Spice have surely welcomed her and they have crossed the Rainbow Bridge together.

Oh no. I am sorry to hear of Cheri’s passing. I just hope her last years were happier. RIP Cheri and there must have been a mighty welcoming at the Bridge when Cheri came over to find all her furkits waiting for her and wanting cuddles.

It’s a wild wet windy and cold day today. I got wet doing the grocery shopping earlier. HRH decided the best place to be was inside asleep in her new favourite spot and there she still is.
KZ I am with you on selfies and any photos, I don’t photograph well either so no selfies for me. What do you mean may KZ? I bet you and Avery do stop for ice cream. Best of luck for a good check up for Peso.
Maybe even a finger lick of ice cream for Peso.
KJ, yay on the quick loo fix.
JK, pretty spring bulb, not sure what type though.
Brutie, that is a very regal profile. Woof !
JJ, yay the shortest day and longest night of the year. It’s onward to Spring and Summer. You wouldn’t think it looking at today’s weather. It’s so awful out there Mr MS has had to give up working today and come home to dry out and thaw out. Awwww a kitten being kitteny JJ. Delightful. Give Aslan a head scritch from me please.
KJ interesting Solstice information. I was watching the news earlier and they were showing all the people at Stonehenge welcoming the rising sun. As for Winter we start it at the beginning of June so we are 22 days through it and every day gone is one day closer to warmer weather.
Marnet thatk you for letting us know about Cheri and the link to her obit page.

I’m glad we remembered the Soltice, summer and winter according to hemisphere.

In Canada, the 21st is National Aboriginal Peoples’ Day, and commemorations have been held from sea … to sea … to sea. (Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic. Some people view the Great Lakes St-Lawrence waterways as an “Inner Sea”…)

Very sad about Cheri, though she hadn’t been posting much by the time I joined the forum.

    And what a beautiful dog!

The Summer Soltice is my favorite day! Why, you may ask…or not but it’s the longest day of the year which means the days are getting shorter and soon it’s winter! Yea

Well, my knee is swelling again and hurts so much. grrr 😡
