National Freedom Day was established in 1948 to remind us that America stands for, and is a symbol of freedom for all people. The roots of this special day come directly from the end of slavery and the signing of the 13th amendment.

But was it ever a given? For efurryone? Can’t imagine that it ever will be either. Sadly.
Thought TDK was a place to not get into politics. Which is reason 1 of many why I will never be on FB.
Theme is from that “Special Days” calendar. One can always go with “Anarchist Cat.”

    *off my soapbox*

And making a move on starting the day. Wishing all a:

Good morning – Freedom! ‘n stuff.
The sun is out here in Jersey, though it’s still cold and breezy. Comet went outside on his harness yesterday, and was covered in snow in no time. Another bundt cake!

What does Leela think of the harness? Does she even care to go outside? It’s colder out this morning. This is Colorado weather though. We usually get more snow the end of February and March.

    Yea Anarchist cat!

So I’m working on this –

PG, when you master “Positive Cattitude” plse let me know how you manage it. I’m such a long way off. ๐Ÿ˜‰

The Coffee Poem – coffee I can manage and 1st one of the day needed and soon.

Just got home from “Beautiful Palaces …” course. These courses have turned out to be somewhat disappointing. In this one the prof shows films that are nice, but of the sort one can see on PBS. And with the lights down I could fall asleep. Then in his wrap up he brings in little tidbits and it could get interesting but class is over. Going to have to see what I can scrounge up to take come Spring.

JJ, similar weather here too. Poor Comet must have felt like he’d received a cold shower!

Here’s a li’l bit of midweek fun – equal time for Tea Sippers ๐Ÿ˜‰

May get in trouble with this but worth the risk:
    queen mum
    #Satire Gotta Luv British Humor:
THE QUEEN has confirmed that if President Trump makes a state visit, she can kill him with a sword and nobody can touch her.

Palace staff have assured the Queen that, according to English law, Trump is a subject of the Crown and can, if judged to be damaging the monarchy, be dispatched without repercussion.

She said: โ€œI havenโ€™t made up my mind yet. I might.

โ€œItโ€™s been an awful lot of years hefting the old sword without using it, and who better to christen it on? Just imagine the look on his satsuma face.
โ€œAnd the colonies would be so grateful theyโ€™d have me straight back as their reigning monarch, which solves this Brexit thing literally at a stroke.
โ€œI should do one useful thing before I abdicate, really. And imagine how furious itโ€™d make the May woman.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜€

OK…time to get back to part 2 day 3’s fun – woot woot!

Believe it or not, Leela has taken to the harness well, she’s much more tuff than one would think, looking at her delicate flower size and stature. She swims in the harness, whereas Comet barely fits in it! It has gotten cloudy so I don’t know if either will want to venture out. Snow showers expected this afternoon.
Sorry the courses are turning out to be disappointing, KJ. Hopefully you can find something interesting for the spring.
Hi JK – love the Happy February pic! Around here I feel like we’ve been coasting through winter pretty well, with storms dumping only a few inches or temps being mild enough to generate rain. However, February is historically the toughest month of winter in this area. It would be awesome if we could get through it without any serious storms or arctic freezes. I think there was just a few nights back in December when we trickled the water to keep the pipes from freezing.

We had a few days of below freezing temps. and had the water drip a bit. No more freezes like that but they’ll be soon enough.

I like that tea pot server. I’ll wipe the blood off the sword for the Queen Mum.

KJ-check out Coursera.org. This is where I’ve been taking classes. I just finished “Intro to Animal Welfare” and I’m working on “International Law In Action.” There are so many courses and they’re free.

I’m cleaning out my excess stuff. There are 6 sets of linens in my cedar chest and I can’t find what I want without having to move all of them out.

Transformers: Age of Destruction is on so I’ll see you later. Have a happy~

OK, I’m getting on soapbox for a sec – and holding myself back. To keep up our longstanding reputation as the “fluffiest site on the I’Net” can we please – even in jest – give the politics a rest.

There are many lurkers and none of us know who voted for whom in the election. There are other sites for this sort of thing. Let’s just let it go and not make TDK one of them. Please.

Moderators feel free to address this or whatever.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

PG, I did check out Coursera. Think my ancient browser gave me some probs. Course offerings were awesome, but for me part of the plan is to get out and engage in discussion. When I work (paid or not) I’m on my own, and it can get to be just a bit isolating. Anyway I just contacted McGill (uni that I graduated from) and they have a program for those of us “gifted” with free time. They’ll be sending me their course guide for Spring, so I’ll see what this brings.

I’d love to help you clean out stuff, organizing de-stresses me. For example last night while my teef defrosted I re-organized my gym socks in see-thru bags by colour. Don’t want to be wearing navy socks with black tights, ’cause who knows whose watching! ๐Ÿ˜‰

JJ, there’s a PBS prog on tonight that you might find interesting: “Aurora: Fire in the Sky.” Not sure when it would be on in your n’hood. Anyway I’, going to PVR it.

Now going to chill before setting out for gym l8r.

Hi all! Just stopping by as I am resting a bit before dinner. Sister and brother in law are bringing out food for us tonight, and I’m excited. My appetite is returning to a small degree, but food is starting to taste good. I think the anesthetic messed with my sniffer and taster, everything is so much more intense, and I had a very sensitive nose to start with.

My PT was here earlier and gave me some much harder exercises, but they weren’t painful, just made me a little sore but that’s to be expected. I’m amazed that muscles wake up after being unused for so long. My incision looks amazing, and I will be glad to get the staples out next week.

I grateful to all of you for your positive thoughts and healing energy, which I’m sure has had a hand in my healing! Leona is laying beside me, actually up against my hip, which feels so good and warm. I slept upstairs last night for the first time since coming home. The stairs are not even a problem, I’m just careful going up and coming down. I want no setbacks! But to sleep in my wonderful bed, did wonders for my psyche, to be in my bedroom again with my stuff, well, it’s my little heaven!

Love the pics today everyone!! Celebrate freedom everyday!

The problem is that I wouldn’t have chosen this particular topic for our fluffy forum, given the current context.

KZ, I’m so glad to hear how well you are doing, considering it’s not even 2 wks since your surgery.

And that you are being well looked after – by kits and hoomins alike!

Lagatta, it is a day on the calendar, as noted established in 1948, no matter what context we’re in at present. And I just stated it and found purry pics to go along with it. I did not take it further and appreciated PG’s initial action in understanding what TDK is about. I do not appreciate being blamed for this – even tangentially. For the third time, let’s let it go.

Afternoon efurryone! it’s still cool here, just barely in the mid 70s … beautiful, actually! …. Supposed to be wet/cold/slushy in Delaware this weekend, so I’m bringing my warmest waterproof coat …. although I doubt Dau and I will do a whole lot of outdoor things! LOL

Need to finish wrapping up my work, so I can get washing, then packing … had my hair cut today, so I should be all set!

    Have a great day everyone!

I glad you are doing so well, KZ. You need to work those muscles that haven’t been used and they don’t give you anytime to be lazy. I know peeps who had hip/knee surgeries and they kinda blow off PT and they’re still struggling with walking. You get what you put into it. What nice heating pad…purr.

Hopefully, you’ll find a course that suits you. If I want to get out of my cubbyhole, I can take classes through a Denver program. Although I’m liking my cubby more and more. ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Deleware? That’s a good place to go in the winter. Yep

This ought to give you a laugh-

Article begs the question: What about the “milkweed” plant? Which is in no way related to “milk” or “weed” – so far as I know. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ™„

PG, I have excess stuff too and need to downsize some things. A family of two doesn’t need several sets of towels, glasses, etc.
I found that program, KJ, thank you! It’s on at 10pm tonight.
Great to see you, KZ! Glad you are able to get up and down stairs and sleep in your own bed. Good girl, Nurse Leona, sitting by mama’s hip. I think of my freedom almost every day, and am immensely thankful.
Have a wonderful visit to Delaware, AV. Hubby and I had a nice mini vacation there last July.
So PG, this almond milk apparently comes from cows that ate almonds. Hmmm…

JJ, did you not know that chocolate milk comes from brown cows? That’s what I was told. I was misinformed? Say it ain’t so! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have not seen MS in a couple of days. Hope she’s doing OK.

I knew chocolate milk came from brown cows! Did you hear the recent story about red Skittles that were allegedly fed to cows? Now I know where strawberry milk comes from!
