my cat gave birth to two kittens 5 weeks ago, and since yesterday every thingwwas fine, until we went to bed and noticed one of the kittens didnt look right, was lethargic not playing etc, so phoned emergrncy vet yesterday as the kitten refused to suckle on mum. once i got there the vet said she was constipated gave her some parafin and another for me to take home, having to keep her warm etc she hardy takes anything from the syringe, and still no poop two hours after vet, so i gave her the second dose and three hours later still no poop, she cries out every now and then when she does i pick her up rub her belly and try to stimultae her, it opens up a little but nothing is coming out and she gets very agitated. right now she is in her warm blanket box with a hot water bottle to keep her temp up as it was 34.4 at the vets. her breathing is also very fast when comapred to her sister. i am getting concerned now that she wont make the rest of the night its now 5:15am and she was released from the vets at midnight.
    any help would be appreciated.

I would give her some veg oil ( 5 mls with syringe) and see if you can bring her back to vet..

At five weeks in assuming she’s on some solids or you’ve recently just introduced solids into her diet. A change of diet can cause diarhea or constipation .. If she was eating Dry food stop that immediately and get her on wet food .. If she’s on wet food add water to the food bowl another reason for constipation is dehydration… If she isn’t drinking form mothers milk she is probably pretty dehydrated so I would try an get water into her ( syringe feed) straight away… She’s probably feeling really lousy if she is badly constipated…

Also goats milk is great at resolving stomach issues in kittens so get some of that if you can…

    Hope she feels better soon…

I’m so very sorry 🙁 sometimes they’re just not meant for this world.. You did all you could and she had seen a vet it’s hard but these things happen when rearing kittens …
