Ugh, I’m so…well angry if I’m honest. Apollo and Amaterasu has been in my home for two months now. They were skinny, hungry and cold and came walking in one night.

Previous owners, had them living in a quoncet they use as a mechanic shop on the property where I live. They new they were in my home the day it happened.

My family and I have nursed them to a healthy weight, gotten their shots started and are about to have our Apollo neutered and NOW they are demanding we return the “stolen cats”!!! Ugh, I can’t bear it, they’re my babies now and I can’t stand to know they just be back living in that Quonset come winter. Do they have any rights still?

That is horrible. I suppose your rights depend on what rights companion animals have where you live, in terms of obvious neglect. They are lovely fellows by the way. Can you contact a local cat protection or humane society?

None around here, I always get told to call local police. Sigh, I guess I will just have to talk it out with my landlord since it’s his nephew that I’m dealing with. It’s just not right, I didn’t even like cats and I couldn’t say no go away to the three kits I’ve now taken in…how could anyone else? Once you let them in your heart, they are so amazing

No, you did not steal any cats…you took them in when they were neglected, dirty, and starving. (Hopefully, you have ‘before’ pics, just in case you need them for some reason.) Cats don’t come with ownership papers…well, some do, but I’m sure these didn’t and since they were pretty much left to their own devices, I say that you keep them, and the discussion with whoever is over. This isn’t a police matter either as there is no proof of ownership and I seriously doubt that the police would like to be involved in it.

I would quit talking to landlord about this matter and to the nephew. It’s just not open for discussion.

I agree with KZ. When the nephew abandoned them, the kits were left to die. 😡 You rescued them and have brought them back from the certain death. They are your cats…end of discussion.

Please don’t let them intimidate you.

Thank you! I absolutely feel the same way, I’m just done talking about it with them and I’ll be darn if anyone comes in to take them. They’re sneaky too, now send their small children to my door. I’m standing tall though…kids say “lady, you stole our cats can we have them back”..I say (truth) “honey, I didn’t steal the kittens they walked into my house. They like the food and are happy” then I close the door. I know it seems mean for kids I guess but I don’t know them or their parents at all…whole thing makes me uncomfortable.

Sending the children is so low. I guess they expect to look in the “sad” eyes, blah, blah, blah.

We’ve got your back so you go girl.

Yes, we have your back for sure…and if you think that YOU are mean, then I guess I am a really hard a$$, because I wouldn’t even open the door for the kids to give me that sad bull crap. How low is it that they would send children scripted to say that you stole their kittens? The talking is over whether it be to adults or children. You owe them no explanation and your actions of mercy speak much louder than words.

It’s so nice to be here with everyone. I really appreciate the support, advice and general family environment. So today, the girl kit disappeared after tearing a window screen open. I’m almost positive they coaxed her out Bc they’re nowhere to be seen today. Sigh, she didn’t care for me or my husband but really was attached to my 3 teenage munchkins. I’m hoping beyond hope she’s just wandering the open wild of the farm though

Paws crossed she comes home to you. BTW, she’s too little to tear the screen open. Even my 10 lb. boy can’t do that and he tries…a few times.

She did come back, with a “prize” for us. A newly hatched mourning dove. It took this long to update Bc I was trying to keep lil one alive. Abbi, is doing just fine and we are positive she had human help escaping. Sadly, I’m devastated as the lil birdy was unharmed physically but still perished yesterday. I tried so hard. I just wasn’t educated enough I guess to keep him alive longer than 5 days…ugh, life is so delicate and cruel in the wild.

Oh yea, Miss Abbi is home! When kits go outside (however they get there) they will hunt. In this case, Miss Abbi brought you a gift. Its like, um, thank you as you rush off to save it. Alas, it probably had a heart attack.

I don’t remember if you’ve had her spayed yet. If not, make it happen now. Kits go into heat as early as 4 months and I’m pretty sure you don’t want a clowder of kits.

Give your wee furball a kiss from me.

No, miss Abbi hasn’t been fixed yet. Her older sister isn’t either…but her litter mate brother has been as of two weeks ago. It’s expensive out here for girls to be fixed…grr face. If I let them have a litter I could give the entire litter up and have them fixed for free but that’s pretty counterproductive for my thinking. Instead, I save up every paycheck to get the girls fixed like our boy has been while doing everything I can to keep them inside. At least they’ve all been fully vaccinated, I don’t feel so neglectful lol.

Yay that Abbi came back. She knows where home is and it’s not with those other people. So sorry about the mourning dove but some creatures are so delicate they die from shock or even a slight scratch.

I don’t know if you’ve seen this information before but please call the closest clinic near you. http://www.lovethatcat.com/spayneuter.html

Yep, there’s only one on that list in my state and its over 5 hours away. There are a few others not on that list but again they are all several hours away. As I can not drive due to history of seizures and strokes I will continue to save up and get my girls fixed as I can.

OK, let’s try this one. It gives info on spay/neuter mobile vets. countrywide. There’s also a referral form that you can fill out.

    http://www.spayusa.org/search.php

Alley Cat Allies works with stray and feral cat populations and are, generally, in less urban areas.

    https://www.alleycat.org

Again, if you can’t find a service call Alley Cats. Sometimes, they know of a large animal vet who is qualified to work with small animals.

    Good luck
