Well guys, I went to my old house Friday to drop something off and spent about 20 minutes with Oz and Jeoff, who were in different parts of the house. I have to say, it went a lot better than my previous visit. Ozzie was much friendlier and didn’t treat me like a stranger. He let me cuddle him, gave me head bonks and purred quietly. Maybe I just took him by surprise last time. Jeoff was his usual, confident self, and he let me pick him up and cuddle him for a while (he never stays in your arms for long, but he wasn’t particularly anxious to get away from me on Friday). So I’m feeling much better about it all now. Future ex will be on vacation for 10 days from 8 November and I’ll be looking after the boys, so I plan to do some serious bonding then – can’t wait!

Will you be able to take them to your new home or do you have to go to your ex’s to take care of them? Will it be sort of joint custody in the future so that you will be able to maintain your bond with them? Hope so for all your sakes.

Yawn! Good morning everyone! It’s a lovely day here in Holland. I’ll be going to my ex’s to take care of the boys. They’ve never known anything but the house they live in now, and we don’t want to upset them more than we have to. I hope that by spending a little time with them every week I can maintain my bond with them. I can probably arrange to go there when the ex is away (he isn’t making it difficult, it’s just hard for us to be around each other right now).

Oh, Molly, I know just what you’re going through. I left our two 14-year old brother/sister cats with my former husband when we divorced, because they were Florida tropicats and loved their house and tropical yard, and I was moving to a mountainous snow climate. We both agreed at their age, they were better to be left in familiar surroundings and climate. He took wonderful care of them, but it nearly killed me to leave them behind.

I’m so happy for you that you get to see and bond with your two!

Thank you Jo, for sharing your story with me. My future ex is crazy about the boys and will take good care of them, so I have absolutely no qualms about that either. I just miss their sweet ways so much, but I know it’s better to do it this way for now. Ex is thinking of moving to France or to the UK at some point, and then I would probably take them again, but that could be a long time coming.
