    First I want you all to know how much I love you & the support you’ve shown for us this past week & a half. That said…It isn’t looking well at all for Cowboy. His temp. has only gone up 1 degree in several days of meds. And they still have not been able to get him to eat on his own. They let us visit with him for a good half-hour today. He was so glad to see us that he started meowing & purring which made us both cry. Altho he’s always been a tuff cat,I think his body is being taken over by the liver problem & he’s starting to lose his will to fight it. You all know that no animal can go so long without food when there’s already a health problem in progress. We’re certain we’ll know by tomorrow afternoon what we’re going to have to decide. I wish I could’ve brought great news to you all with all the support you’ve shown. It seems the little guys system just isn’t strong enuf to fight off his problems. Sorry I couldn’t let you know sooner,but our electric has been off all day due to work being done within the park. It got so cold inside,we could see our breath. Thank God they have it back on. I pray that Cowboy at least has a more comfortable sleep tonight after having such a long visit from us today. He watched us intensely as we walked away from him. The tech made mention of it as well. I at least hope he hangs in there for us to see him again. <^..^> Peace

    Thanks CCM & GD…no not yet. I just haven’t had enuf time or been much in the mood for shopping if I did have the time. With Cowboy not around (I was always sitting with him when he was at home)it sure seems like the ticking of the clocks are getting louder by the hour. I think it’s my Intuition kicking in as to what’s coming up in the next couple of days. 🙁

    Sorry to hear Susie….I’m so glad that you had a good visit with him, that quality time is so important for all of you. Prayers will continue, I pray that Cowboy has a restful and warm night,the little sweetheart. He clearly knows love (the best gift that you have given him) , just in case you didn’t know , that was the meaning of that intense look that he gave you today.

    Please you also try to get some rest.

    Awwww Susie. I have tears in my eyes for you and Cowboy. I am still sending positive healing energy and light to you. I wish I could be there to help you through this. I have only concern for the well being of your brave boy. Whatever you decide, I know it will be in Cowboy’s best interest.

    I am still saying prayers that Cowboy pulls through. It sounds like his spirit is willing what with his eyes following you so intently as you left but his body isn’t able to start the healing process due to the liver issue. Huge hugs to you as you spend the remaining hours trying to figure out what to do.

    Thanks all. You HAVE been there. The Spirit & the Words can be just as soothing & with comfort as the physical being. My Yipee Aye Yay boy just isn’t as tuff as we thought,but we’re not letting him know that. I swear,if they’d have had a bed there,I would have begged to stay there with him. Just a bit of unrealistic there. {{{HUGS}}} for your support. <^..^> Peace

    Susie, I almost lost my cat Scarlett to liver disease several years ago. She was actually sent home to die, because after a week at the vet her numbers got worse. I made her comfortable at home and gave her baby food every few hours. When she survived the next few days we switched to petromalt? I think that was the name of it–a high vitamin food in a tube like toothpaste. Getting her to eat was very, very difficult, and she ate so little that she did not have a bowel movement for over two weeks and she rarely even urinated. She was very, very weak. But let me tell you something important–THE LIVER CAN REGENERATE, EVEN IF ONLY A SMALL PORTION IS FUNCTIONING. What made us FINALLY turn the corner was when the vet put her on an appetite stimulant. I had to get it at the pharmacy, open the capsule and sprinkle a tiny bit on the baby food before giving it to her in the syringe. The next morning, she was ravenous! I think I measured wrong! Anyway, once she was eating on her own she started to get better. But the time from diagnosis to when she started getting better was about 4-6 weeks. So, don’t give up on Cowboy yet! His liver might even now be starting to regenerate. My cat was 8 years old when this happened and lived to be 19. DO NOT GIVE UP. He is probably not in pain or anything, just feels a little sick, so there is no reason to put him to sleep for this. Give him a chance to heal himself and stay with you. It’s not over yet!

    Thanks CW. We’ll be talking to his vet tomorrow when we go to visit Cowboy & I most definately will ask about the petromalt & the appetite stimulant as well. I’m sure they are already giving him one while he’s there. You gave me a spark of possibility there,even if his numbers look bad. {{{HUGS}}}

    That is awesome about CW’s Scarlett. Here’s hoping Cowboy is better this morning and that appetite stimulant works for him.
