I apologize in advance for the really long post and also because I know most of this information is out there and I’ve looked..repeatedly. My problem is I keep finding alot of variations on what I should be doing. So it’s pretty confusing.
So three days ago my boyfriend brought home two kittens, we believe they are around 3 weeks old but not completely sure. They have blue eyes, but with pupils. Can walk, but still wobly. Has nubby little front teeth. Anyways based on their weight (about 1 lb) one place said to feed them 4 teaspoons each meal(based on 1 tsp per every 4 oz of body weight), and I did that every 3 hours(though they never ate the full amount) until I found another site that stated it should be more like 1 and 1/2 teaspoons per meal. So I feel like I might have been overfeeding them. And some places say I should only be feeding them more like every 4-6 hours. This is my first time bottle feeding kittens so I know I’m being overly paranoid. lol But I just want to make sure I do everything I can and correctly.
They both seem to be in great health, playing, walking around, chewing on each other(the girl is a little vampurr) one even tries to climb out of the box I had them in, and can almost succeed. My main concern is how much I need to be feeding them and also the fact that neither of them has pooped yet(3 days now). The girl has peed plenty but the boy hasn’t seemed to at all, today I got a TINY bit out of him. I will be taking them to the vet on Monday I just hate having to wait that long to make sure everything is ok. I just hope they aren’t constipated and are getting plenty of water. I started diluting their formula 1:4 and now I’ve moved it to 1:3, hopefully that will help. Is this ok to do when I’m only feeding them 1 and 1/2 teaspoons every 3 hours?
Also when I feed them (Petlac kmr powder mixed with water) neither of them suckle, they just try to chew the end off as they drink. Does that mean I should try giving them hard food soaked in formula? And also for being as young as they are I find it odd that neither of them kneed, ever.
Ok I think that covers the majority of my questions and concerns lol Though I’m sure I’ll think of more later. Again I apologize for the lengthy post.
