Kilroy, I think what’s happening is that George wants to play with you. It’s just that he’s found the best way to get a reaction out of you is to attack you. This is not good. Have you detected any particular pattern to the behavior? I mean, does he do it when you walk into the living room, or maybe when you’ve just gotten home from work, or when?

Have you played with him with a laser pointer yet? I know of someone who had great success diverting a very high-energy cat with a laser pointer, used as a toy. She calls the cat’s name, says “laser toy!” and shines it down to a point between her feet. From there, the game’s on! When the cat is worn out, she shines the point to back between her feet and says, “Game over! No more laser toy.” And then she turns it off.

(What if you wore a laser toy on a lanyard? You’d always have it handy.)

A lot of the time it is when I get home from work that he gets wound up and starts biting, so I try to give him lots of attention when I first get home. Other times he gets wound up if we play with the Cat Dancer too long; he goes from playing nicely into attack kitty mode in a heartbeat.

I know I have to change the way I react when he attacks; unfortunately, knowing and doing are 2 different things 🙂

I missed them so much, you guys. Now my house is a home again. I also have Trumie and Gizzy because their mom is in Florida. It’s been quite interesting.

They all behave. Trumie (being a baby, still) is the lead instigator even though he’s the smallest by far. Gizzy usually sits up at the top in the kitty condo looking at everything while Mavvy, Huddy and Trumie chase each other around. I feel SO badly for my downstairs neighbor. But every morning when I wake up, they are all in the bed with me. Trumie sleeps across my feet – lol. I may steal him. He’s so sweet and ‘floppy’. Last night I was holding him in one arm and he just went right to sleep. He thinks the entire world is his playground – I had forgotten how much fun kittens can be.

CM…poor Maddie…I’m sorry she is feeling poorly, but you can sure use a nap too!!! did you get a chance to hear the song from page 2 that I posted for Wayne??

I noticed that too, 2B. My sister says I notice the weirdest things.
