Tuesday Cafe 9-30-08

Hi LK!

Kilroy, Leela looks at me sometimes and then lunges at me, crazy kitten. If I react quickly enough, I shove a toy between us (usually it’s just my arm, which doubles as a toy). I’m convinced that she believes doorway moldings are inside trees for her to climb. With a little “breep!”, she gets a running start and winds up attached to the side of the doorway, then looks around to make sure someone saw her, then leaps to the floor.

I’ve tried standing still and talking to him calmly when he starts to get wound up, but he just bites me anyway. And you’re right, it is hard, because I panic when I know he’s going to bite, and I can’t seem to turn off that reaction. Then hubby starts yelling at me for panicking, which doesn’t help at all.

BCAM – I’m sure you meant “it’s STILL raining in Florida”. I’ve had it!!!! This is like Denmark for crying out loud – what’s going on???? Stupid weather!!! >:(

I just ordered the Feliway from Amazon for the boys and after a pretty sleepless night, I’m looking forward to it’s arrival! v

The boys are done fighting for now ad resting for their next battle. I’m headed out in a little bit to meet a friend for coffee at Panera. Should I bring back stuff? Cinnamon buns, chocolate croissants, my favorite pecan braid?

Wow, GD, this is the first rain we have had in a few days. Very overcast. I hope the sun comes out for you (and us too).

Kilroy, just keep working on it. You are trying to re-train your impulse, which is not easy. Unfortunately, the natural impulse in a cat when someone runs or pulls away is to dig in deeper. The nice thing is that once you train yourself to freeze it works for all cats. Nibs sometimes gets into a biting mood too, and all I have to do is freeze and say “NO” and she stops right away. My Mom has always had a hard time relating to the cats too – she gets nervous and her actions are jerky and she talks in a really high voice to them – frankly I think it just kind of ticks them off 🙂

Kilroy, she did get me once – since then I’ve stayed as far away as possible.

SOM, you’re lucky! It’s been raining here every days since last Wednesday – a LOT of rain! The road by the gym was partially flooded yesterday. They had signs up and a cop and two tow trucks were rescuing stalled cars that had tried to go through the water.

CM, I forgot to mention the cinnamon crunch bagels – I love those!!! I’ll bring back a whole bunch of things for the cafe!

I won’t stay long – I have a lot of work to do today, so I’ll have just a kwahsone w/bacon, egg and cheese. And Andy!!!!

BTW, I got my Huddlebugg and Mavvy back on Sunday morning. All I could do is sing that cheesy @$$ed song by Peaches and Herb “Reunited”. They stuck to mama like glue.
