    Hi KJ,

A quick note – I know this is a busy week for you so if you need help with the TDK Cafe just ask.

I read this interesting article from the Sunday NYT:

Bunsen burners and chemistry, some of my favourite past things to work with.

I just saw this on the ‘interwebs’ and have to post it as it would have been perfect for Sunday’s Something on a Stick Cafe.

Made by Chef Point Cafe, an eatery in Texas, USA, this artery-clogging nightmare contains not only the typical vodka, tomato juice and Tabasco sauce, but waffle fries, fried chicken, a beef slider, bacon, prawns, asparagus, jalapenos and more, all precariously balanced on sticks.

MS, what an image to awaken to! That concoction – it’s more than some of us consume in an entire year!!!! Pretty ghastly but in a ROTFLMAO funny way!
So much of Chemistry Cat on the I’Net, almost as many pics if I daresay as Grumpy Cat. My memories of chemistry in high school are of classmate’s hair singing on Bunsen burner, my teacher letting me try distilled water and ultimately my very low grades in second year course. Sticking with Eng Lit better suited my academic strengths LOL.
Interesting article PG! Tks for offer but I should be good for Café openings as I do them in advance as much as possible. Even set for next wk when I will be away for Friday as Apr 10 as first of last 2 days of Passover (segues into Sabbath.) Will still be able to open Café as earlier Thurs eve. Organized? Too organized? It has it’s advantages and it’s my modus operandi. Off to self-taught spin class so catch you all L8R.

Oh my gosh, KJ. I was just going to share that when I think of Bunsen burners I think of my chemistry classmate burning her big, eighties style, hair sprayed, highly flammable (apparently) bangs off. She was okay, but it is quite a memory.

Another busy day here. We clean our tough house then grab a quick bite and head to soccer practice. My schedule got off track again and we do three houses this week. I’ll get it back on track though. Three is too much…two is just right.

Morning, evening or whatever time of day it is 🙂

One of my best friends has a degree in Chemistry (believe it was her first major degree) so sending this pics to her, she has multiple goggies because she is deathly allergic to kitties.

Wonder how proud the parents will be in the future when these kids become adults w/o a sense of responsibility for anything they do.

From his biography: Jamie was born on 27 May 1975, Jamie took an early interest in food. He grew up in Essex, where his parents Trevor and Sally still run their own highly respected pub/restaurant The Cricketers in Clavering and was frequently fund helping out in the kitchens. His fascination for food continued to grow and at 16 Jamie left school and completed his training at Westminster Catering College. After spending some time working in France, followed by a stint at Antonio Carluccio’s Neal Street Restaurant (where he first met mentor Gennaro Contaldo), Jamie joined the acclaimed River Café where he worked for three and a half years alongside Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers.

Good morning everyone! Laughing at the chemistry/bunsen burner catastrophes! I did not take chemistry (did I?) but had to laugh at the bangs incident. Reminded me of the 80’s early 90’s hair. Oldest daughter was into it big time and still loves BIG HAIR! But if when she got ready for school in the morning and I would turn her around away from me and I could see her bangs over the back of her head sticking way up, I would make her *redo* them! Oh, how she hated that! It was her way of making a statement I guess, LOL! My sis likes big hair too, but me..not so much. Anyway, I got off track!
Try to check in later–warmer day here too!

Happy Birthday Mr. Bunsen, and thank you for celebrating with us, Chemistry Cat!
I didn’t take Chemistry in high school, just some basic science courses. Tried to go for the big hair, but was a losing battle for fine, straight hair.
Winter weather advisory in effect for today – possible 1-3″ of snow!

    Hi Everybody,

Interesting theme, KJ. I managed to clear the junior high school building out…I mixed something with water and it was not a good idea. Live and learn, eh?

It’s going to be 80f/26c today but then snow on Weds. p.m. through Thursday. Ah, yes-springtime weather.

Afternoon all! Had to laugh at the huge Bloody Mary! There is a lakeside restaurant up north a few miles I’ve told everyone I want to go to because they seem to have such fantastic Bloody Marys. It’s like a salad in a glass, with vodka of course. I don’t know what all is in it, but there is a jumbo shrimp, celery, asparagus, and other assorted veges. It looks delicious! No fried chicken, fries, or sliders though.. 😯
It is unbelievably warm here, very windy as we can’t have warm without wind.
Joan, on the big hair thingy…my hair is very fine hair too, but you can’t believe how many times I used to come home from the hairdressers and stick my head in the sink and rinse out hair spray and product. I got in my car once and my hair touched the ceiling of the car–and I am 5’8″! I am in the process of growing my hair out yet again as I had a talk with my stylist that the latest hairstyle that was short, was just way too short. Even though she had a picture, she interpreted it way different than I did. I’m going for shoulder length hair again, bangs grown out in the classic bob style..maybe cut in the back with inverted bob. Just know that short layers in my hair just do not work.

Sending snow shovel thru wormhole to you Joan!
(Actually just removed it out of my vestibule – hope that’s not a bad omen!)

Ah, the pluses of fine/thin hair – raises paw to straighten bangs…hey, at least it dries in a few minutes!

OK – heading out to the patio to join Tux – wake us in 1/2 hour please 😉

Ha! It’s snowing like crazy here and started at noon. I just put my car scrapers in my trunk and brought my extra scarf and mittens in the house the other day! Also, washed both of my winter coats…. LOL 1-5″ expected…… I have an order at the farm down the road for me later…. Hope the roads are all cleared by then…..

Well on the hair front, just got back from stylist, yup sticking with the super-super short sides and back with longer layers on top – I have extremely fine curly hair and trying to grow it is a no-go. It’s very cutting-edge and punky and not for everyone but on me it works! With my skinny flat-iron/skinny round bristle brush I can easily maintain it!
So on arriving home I had yet another KJ near freak-out! Stylist is super, but a smoker and although he never smokes indoors I always come home with my clothes smelling of second-hand smoke. Not good. So, I stripped down and gathered clothes to add to load going into washer. Then changed. Here’s where the freak-out comes in. Couldn’t find my ring. First thought – Dorry swallowed it. Panic ensued as I searched everywhere! Second thought, as I had heard something drop, perhaps it got tangled up with wash load. 30 min. of intensifying panic as I waited for load to finish. I was correct. The ring was in bottom of washer and is sparkly clean. I ran another load just to endure that nothing happened to washer. But above all – Dorry is fine! But for sure I do not need more freaking out added to current stress level. Phew!

I have a chemistry degree but I worked at the New York State Dept of Transportation in Design, in Signs, and in Bridge Structures Design.
Today, I bought groceries and a bar stool to help me cook at the stove and to also wash dishes. I saw the movie “Jack Ryan, Shadow Recruit” today starring Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, and Kiera Knightley. A real good flick !!!
