Good morning everyone! Foggy here this morning, cool, with thunderstorms expected this afternoon–look out Joan looks like we may have to pull the ark out again today!
Mommy hummie has hatched her little eggs, and is now feeding them. They are so small that I can’t even see them yet, but she is sitting on the side of the nest poking things in their mouths. I want to get a pic, but seriously it has been raining so much I haven’t been able to sit on the patio for long!
Hi KJ, wherever you are–I miss you!

    Good Morning TDKers,

Ooh precious hummie babies! I don’t know how you saw the eggs.

It’s going to be toasty today, 95f/35c. I’m going to my Tai Chi. After that my neighbor and I are going to jerry rig a cover for our garden. The squirrels and birds are eating veggies as the grow so we want to keep them out. Fortunately, our garden is in the morning shade.

LilBit is being so cute. He had his wet food but…

Good morning – it’s a bit more humid today with rain promised for later and tomorrow. Yes, that ark sounds like it will come in handy!
Love meteor showers! I’m one of those crazies who will bundle up in the winter and go out in the middle of the night to watch one.
KJ, love the “It’s full of stars” pic. Cats’ eyes are fascinating!
    Wow, baby hummingbirds, adorable!

    Hi all,
I haven’t been in Café in a few ‘cept to open the door. I’m having a more than usual rough time. Door 1 – stress; Door 2 – stress; Door 3 – stress. I think you get the gist of it. And if I go into details, none of you will thank me, trust me on this one.
It’s hot here, but in a good way. Holiday here tomorrow, makes no difference to me as I don’t work, gym is open. Also mega city-wide moving day. Other day said to self that I could use another wood folding TV table, I want one in bdrm and one in LR. About $15. Then I found the exact brand on the curb. A good washdown to expose the natural finish, 2 coats of varnish, and mine! Plus dumping a straight back chair for a nicer one that I brought home today, scrubbed down and re-painted in cherrywood to go with other furniture. I kid you not, just ambling through n’hood I can see how one could completely equip an apt furniture-wise, and with good solid stuff. Actually found matching modern dressers, but I am minimizing so anything that I find has to be as replacement for something that I toss.
Bringing in laptop to get more memory installed, a DIY job that I will leave to techie, so will be offline for part of pm. Hoping this fix will provide workaround as not ready to buy new ‘puter – mine is 9 yrs old *gasp*. 😉

Good to ‘see’ you KJ, and so sorry about the stress~we are here if you need us, and I mean that. I just can’t believe that you can pick up furniture on darned near every corner..so strange to me, but would be so much fun. My oldest daughter is a ‘picker’~ she will go into old abandoned houses and clean them out, barns, garages when called and you can’t believe the treasures she finds there.
Joan, I always say I want to watch a meteor shower, but when the time comes to get up….not so much! It has to be BEFORE I go to bed I guess or for me, well, I’m just too comfy to get up and watch!
Yes about the hummies, and I also have a feeder on my front porch where I saw little babies feeding there this week. I don’t know where their nest is, but they are so tiny they have had to hatch out not long ago and mommy has brought them to the feeder.

afternoon all! KZ, I’m so jealous of your hummies, how wonderful to be able to watch a Mamma and babies! I hope you can get a good pic and post it!
PG, I’m with you on the heat! …. 94 here today with a 106 feels like cause of the humidity … forget makeup!
KZ, I hope your stress lessens and things sort them selves
Joan, prepare the ark, and head my way! …. I made need rescuing later this week ….

… my land line phone system (for my business) went on the blink today, so Mr. AV and I are headed out to get a new one …. all I want is simple – one line and an answering machine! …. I wouldn’t even need one, if I didn’t still have some banks that insist on faxing things *sighs* ….

Hazel came today and the house is wonderfully clean! …. love that feeling! and since we’ll be out and about, I’ll make Mr. AV take me to dinner, so I won’t have to cook! …. it’s a good Tuesday!!

    Thanks guys,
Hey AV, a belated Happy Anniversary and umpteen more! It’s myself and not KZ with the mega stress, I would not wish this on anyone here.
Unfortunately no resolutions, just a matter of coming to terms with certain situations/issues, not easy.
So got me double the memory on my ‘puter, not sure how much of a fix this is, but upgrading would mean that none of my software/printer would be compatible so it’s a bit too much of a leap to make when this one’s still doing it’s job.It does seem to be running faster. Wish I could just as quickly swap some memory out of my mind.
Hot/hazy out here like it’s going to pour, and I don’t care, I’m inside.
For anyone who needs it, the Agency Kitties are patching up the TDK Ark, based on some old instructions that they found in the Basement.

Good morning all, it’s overcast with a nasty cold southerly wind still hanging around making scarfs and coats and must when going outside. Brrrrrr
Steaming at AV’s and fog and thunderstorms at KZ’s with the possibility of the Ark having to come out for Joan and toasty for PG and hot for KJ. Quite a selection of weather.
KZ, how lovely that Mummy hummie is now feeding her wee family, I hope you can get a pic.
PG, it’s so frustrating when something else other than you gets in first to eat the garden produce. Hope you are successful in keeping the critters out.
Joan, keep dry there. I love watching the night sky too. When we lived in an isolated area near a huge lake we would go fishing and I would lie on my back and watch for satellites and falling stars and meteors. So much easier when there is no light pollution.
KJ, ask and you shall receive – or find it on the curbside. 😀 You never cease to amaze me with the great things you find. Hope the memory upgrade(computer) goes well and I am sorry about the stress. Remember cuddling a cat can ease stress.
Dorry; I see lots of cuddling ahead for you.
    Hi Deb.
Not a meteor but I just read an explanation of something different I saw in the night sky from my kitchen window last night. It was Venus and Jupiter aligned and will be visible here for the next two nights. It was quite odd to see two stars appearing so close together in that part of the sky. Apparently it may be possible with a telescope or binoculars to see four of Jupiter’s moons lined up on either side of the giant gas planet. I’ll see what I can see this evening.

Sorry you’re so stressed, KJ. Thank you for opening the café doors despite all those less desirable doors.
AV, will cruise in the ark your way when the time comes, then we can see about bringing some water to Deb’s ‘hood. Those instructions for the ark in the TDK basement are accurate, of that I’m sure. Why? Because it’s all about the animals! Have been tempted to drop the land line here all together, but it came in very handy when power was out after superstorm sandy hit.
Hi Deb – great to see you!
Hey there MS – hope you are staying warm, keep that scarf handy and don’t get a stiff neck. I heard about Venus and Jupiter, the big event here is tonight, however, it’s quite cloudy so won’t be seeing it. Hopefully it will still be a spectacle tomorrow evening.
Today would be my dad’s 90th birthday. Besides his wife and 5 kids, his passions were scouting and band. He also loved all things celestial, that’s where I got my love of the night sky. In 2004, 6 months before he died, he was recognized for 60 years in the coronet band. At the time, the band was 120 years old and New Jersey’s oldest active marching band, he was in the band for half it’s existence.

Your wit is razor sharp tonight, Joan! And yes, the TDK door always opens onto something pleasant, thankfully! Nice memories about your Dad. The only thing that I can recognize in the night sky is the Big Dipper. And the Moon! 😉
