Mega-sales, returns, and peeps lining up for deals of the century! Many retailers now offer Boxing Week, Boxing Month, purrhaps Boxing Year. But kits and boxes – that’s a whole other thing.

Much cuter than facing the horrible cold to navigate actual Boxing Day sales! I need new boots – and no, I won’t order those online, unless they are a model and brand I’ve had before.

Ok, that orangie said what we are all thinking, at least I am anyway. Yep, wish I had a cardboard box of my own, cats make them look so fun!

I learned on TV this morning that Boxing Day started in England when the rich let the help visit their families the day after Christmas. They would give the help boxes for them to put gifts and food in. Yeah, I never heard that either.

Had a nice Christmas but bummed to report that hubby’s stomach virus has returned after a one day hiatus. The indulgence must have been a bit too much on a sensitive tummy. Hope he feels better soon.

It’s mighty cold here in Jersey, and will get colder as the week goes on. At least the sun is out!

JJ,I feel for and commiserate with hubby.:-( Stomach things – so unpleasant. I’ve been going through the day on/day off thing since last wk. After a disastrous yest today thank G-d seems better and I did consult med prof for reassurance/advice as danger of becoming dehydrated. How much plain white rice can one consume before totally losing it? Hmm …

Then I become afraid of eating at all and this is srsly not good.

Anyway N is coming over and this is good as when I’m alone I tend to overthink.

Have to check online sales to see if a pr of high cleated boots I have a hankering for have gone on decent sale.

Happy day after all!! Sorry to hear of tummy troubles, ugh! JJ, there is nothing worse than a man whose guts are screwed up, get better, then screw up again…it also does something to their heads and they think they’ll never get better again–which drives FEAR into the woman who is caring for them.. 😛

Trying to get house back in order today–I won’t take the tree down today, but I will one day this week. Hubby got me an antique cupboard that I can’t wait to bring home and put ‘stuff’ into. KJ, you can have visions of organizing that for me, it might make you feel better! 🙂

The cats are calmed down too somewhat after all the company yesterday. I took the Christmas quilt off of one table that I had a mouse village set up one because one of them kept yakking on it–really? An antique quilt? 😡

I hope you feel better soon KJ. Oooh, cleated boots, sounds right up your alley!

Really? The antique quilt? Oh but of course, cat logic. Sorry that happened, KZ.

Well we did have a white Christmas, got about 3″ overnight. Just a dusting down the valley at mom’s but it was still a nice effect.

The cats, of course, are always a topic of discussion at Christmastime. There was the year Leela was sociable and Comet was afraid and stayed out of sight, then the year Leela was living in my closet and Comet was social. This years total surprise was Dewey. He gave hubby’s mom the sniffdown and then proceeded to give her full body leg rubs!

I did walk a couple of blocks from my flat to do some grocery and other utilitarian shopping, but it is far too cold to set off on a shopping spree, moreover I still haven’t received some cheques I am owed (and I know that the clients have sent them). I just want to cuddle up with Livia.

I gave in to my online shopping desires. Well N was here and we both did. In my case: the high/warm cleated boots, 2 prs of over the knee boots (black/brown) and a pair of burgundy sporty boots. I think that 2 prs of previously loved boots might go to charity bin.

There are some awesome online sales going on!

And it is undeniably cold and getting colder, but I dress for it and manage.

I would love to organize your cupboard KZ! I do get a thrill just thinking about it! Any pawsibility of pics?

I’m making some nomz and srsly hoping that eating earlier than usual helps because, well it has to.

    Good afternoon all.
Just back from my first gym session in over a week and feel so much better for it.

JJ, sorry to hear Mr JJ is not feeling well again. I hope it goes for good very soon.

A cuddle with Livia sounds purrfect! It’s too cold to do much outside here either. Star is sitting on the wool blanket on the chair outside and she looks miserable! I think she’s also mad that Berta is in the shelter with the heated pad. Sure wish they would just come inside, I worry about them so.

I keep forgetting to tell you this years story about Comet and the Christmas tree. You may remember he’s fixated on the water and I’ve tried securing the tree skirt, which results in a shredded tree skirt. Last year I tried a kitty water fountain, which initially worked until Comet discovered the fun in tipping it. We’ve only had the tree up since Sunday the 17th, but I’m not happy that all the cats were drinking the water. Then I found a bag of stuff from my sister and in it was a big Christmas bowl. I put some water in it and though they still go for the tree, I’ve seen all the cats drink from the bowl. Yay, right? Well, not quite. In his latest masterpiece, Comet stuffed much of the tree skirt in the bowl. I think Shaddo has been visiting him, fun and mischief with the Christmas tree was one of his favorite activities.

    Ha!

Of course if I had to sally forth to work outside in Siberian/Canadian Prairie weather I’d simply woman up and do it. As it is the closest bus stop is a couple of minutes from my house and a walk to the closest métro station no more than ten. Since I’m working at home and have a nasty sinus thing, I minimise outings in this deathly cold.

I’m not at all into shopping (no judgement of those who like it) but I do need a warmer coat so as not to have to pile on so many layers, and new waterproof, warm boots, not too high.

I bought a little sack of chickpea flour at nearby Fruiterie Milano. It is vegan, gluten-free (coeliac society approved) and kosher parve. And grown on the Canadian prairies. I’m making crêpes with onion, though not precisely the recipe below, nor as large:
    http://ohsheglows.com/2013/09/15/jumbo-chickpea-pancake-a-high-protein-filling-vegan-breakfast-or-lunch/

This is vegan, high in protein and portable, and variations on it are made from the Mediterranean to South Asia. It can have fiery spicing or be perfectly plain; I like a bit of digestive spices such as caraway or cardamom, nothing too hot (you can always add a bit of hot sauce later).

Is there anything cuter than kits and boxes! We woke up to 4f/-15c and with the wind chill it barely got to freezing. Miss Gaea is annoyed (I say that a lot, huh?). It sounds like Boxing Day has become the Black Friday of the World.

KZ, the more expensive and/or precious an item is, the greater the chances for yakkage. I bet the antique cupboard is beautiful.

I’m sorry so many peeps are sick. I know it’s difficult in this cold weather but I hope everyone feels better soon. You asked how much white rice you can eat, KJ? The Chinese seem to do fine. 😉

Your crêpes sound delish and snuggling with your girl is the best idea.

We do have the luxury of not having to go out in the cold, Lagatta. If we had to, we button up and get to it.

Yes, we just man, or woman, up, depending on our gender. I’ve done it for decades. But we haven’t had early winter weather this bitter for 20 years. Going to bed. Don’t want to cry.
