A day for wearing black and white – penguin colours. However, wearing a tuxedo in their honour is entirely optional. The Café’s Tux is doin’ it right!

Pennn-goo-ins! Such interesting, cute and funny birds! Tux is representing TDK’s love and respect for them well.
It’s a rainy day here in Jersey. Not raining too hard yet, just enough for the JJ crew to get wet while having breakfast. Heavy rain and wind expected later.

Paw up waves – Good Tuesday Morning – toot too!

    Borrowed this from FB:

In Honor of Anzac Day – thanks for the reminder MS
    cat
It seems incongruous, that cat sitting on the shoulder of an Anzac soldier in the photo above. These men of the Canterbury Regiment are lined up, at Lyttelton, to board a ship bound for battlefields on the other side of the world.

It’s 1914 and they’re off to war. Yet there’s still time for a little fun with a most unwarlike pet.

Well, back to part 1 day 2’s fun…back later/ hopeful.
    Enjoy your day kits!

I never thought about owning a penguin…of course it wouldn’t be too practical living in the Midwest, would it?! 😛 I’m sure that Willow would think they were related in some way…heh.

Mr. KZ has started planting corn, as of yesterday! I was glad to hear that he first planted our sweet corn, YAY, he sometimes gets busy and forgets and then the ladies of the family have to complain a lot about it. Now to keep the racoons and the blackbirds out of it when it gets ready to eat!!

Nice day again here too, not raining here though JJ, how did you get the rain and we didn’t? I think they said we should have a chance on Thursday. I’m with you–I love the spring and fall seasons and don’t care much for the extremes…especially the humidity of summer. Everything is so green. I did get some onion sets planted and need to put some spinach in. I’m still afraid to plant beans and cucumbers yet, but I may anyway.

Sailors (whether in the Navy or the merchant marine) kept cats for centuries, as not only did rodents eat or soil food supplies, they also chewed on rigging and could paralyse a ship. As a result no sailor would dare kill or harm the ship’s cat.

Interesting how while having a kit on board was considered good luck, having a a woman on board was not. Back in the day that is. Way back (thankfully!)

Finally home for the day. Spin class, then spent way longer than I initially expected at appt. Prob was that lab takes ever so long to process blood chemistry tests which what with stomach thing were especially needed. This can take 4-5 hrs. Dr. (who is as proactive as KJ if not more so) called lab and asked for priority. So I waited an hr more. And am now on potassium for next few wks. No definitive reason why stomach cr**ped out on me (pun intended), ie could be bug or whatever but told to take it easy noms-wise for next 2 days and call nurse Thurs. Meaning no dairy. No coffee. No Greek yogurt. It’s eggs, eggs and eggs! I should acquire a laying hen. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Rest of appt went well thank G-d, but situation is one that will always be stressful. One reason why I see therapist (among quite a few others) LOL. And had to cab it to that appt but made it more or less on time.

Still feel tired out and not purrfect stomach-wise, time will tell, plus eating way less for a week while keeping up reg activities, well this all makes sense. And I srsly can’t afford to eat any less, not much to me, being overly sprite-ly. (PG I am so grateful to you for this take on the term.) 😉

Pouring out and will try to chill. Finished paying job way ahead of deadline and will send it off tomorrow. And ideally will get more than the 3 or so hrs of sleep I got last night. 🙄

I’m so happy the corn has been planted! I eat as much as I can when it’s in season. Though around here it’s all about “sweet Jersey corn.”
Down the valley today and came home with a wee houseguest. Yep, I’m fostering a tiny white kitten. My sister has had him for a few days but she has her hands full with Tyler (who is six months old already – where has the time gone?!). Anywho, my challenge is keeping him separate from my cats. He hasn’t had any vaccinations, and my very open home doesn’t have any rooms to keep him in.
He’s quite a cutie, all white, blue eyes and a tiny mighty roar. I was told he might be deaf, but I’m not convinced yet.
No name yet, but I do have one in mind. I want to make sure it’s a boy first!

I’d slightly disobey the coffee thing, if not, I’d have to mainline caffeine. I’ve had that, but it resolved quickly – however I still remember how utterly miserable I was. Not only painful but feeling dirty.

I don’t drink a lot of coffee, but without a little morning hit of espresso, get a splitting headache around 11 a.m.

I also fostered a tiny white kitten – some neighbours brought him to me because he was foraging in the alley, dirty and skinny. Turns out he was deaf, but the cat rescue who took him in said they’d find him a good home. My, he was the handsome lad. But it is important never to let them out in places they can encounter traffic, as they have no warning to keep themselves safe.

Afternoon all! …. I love my cuppa joe in the am, gotta have it to start my engines 😉

Cuddles was an all white, but not deaf at all ….. she had two lovely green eyes, although I had an all white in college (Syd) who had one green and one blue eye …. he was somewhat hard of hearing, but not sure if he was all deaf ….

Abby (being a slightly cross-eyed meezer) isn’t blind, but I know girl doesn’t see well ….she looses her hairbands in the patter on the oriental carpets when she’s playing …. silly girl!

Caddy on the other hand, has the sharpest of all senses! Sees things I can’t even see and hears what’s going on three doors down … I guess being an outdoor cat sharpens the awareness …. I’m so excited about her cat tree arriving soon, I have to say Chewy has been wonderful for the things I’ve ordered so far from them!

Mr. AV wants to go see ‘the Promise’ tonite (a Tues. jaunt) so we’re headed to the cinebistro dine in/movie place (our fav)! ….have a great evening all!

Hi guys. Sitting at son’s soccer practice and had a quiet moment to check in.

Aww, a kitten! What a lucky guy to have Joan for a foster mom. If I have read reputable sources in the past, deafness comes with the genes for both white fur and blue eyes. White with green eyes would not be deaf and one green and one blue would be half deaf. Not sure if all blue eyed white cats are deaf or if it’s just very common…and not sure where I read all this.

I’m so sorry about your tummy troubles, KJ. No coffee would make me sad. Hope the doc helps you find answers.

I love your descriptions of spring there, KZ!

    Tks ECB!

No answers to find re stomach probs and restating thank G-d. In any case there were no major concerns (‘cept in my own head.) There’s a bug that’s going around, or post-Passover eating or whatever. Solution is as mentioned potassium (I’ve had this issue previously) and gradually easing back into reg. food, meaning coffee. I’m not taking any chances, a first for me, listening to anyone. As in not doing so and having some dairy over wknd was not a good plan. Anyway I’ve done me up a nice omelet, baby carrots and mashed potatoes, slathered (sorta) in dairy-free margarine. All it’s missing is the cheese. Hehehe!

I love your laying hen, KJ! Sorry you’re not feeling much better. Hopefully, the potassium will help.

    Sweet corn! yum

We’re waiting for snow. Yes, snow. Of course, we were supposed to get a good rain last week…ha!

JJ is a foster mom! The kit couldn’t have a better foster meowmy. I think he/she is too young to know if his eyes are going to change colors.

Oh, poor Miss Abby losing her hairbands on the patterned rug. I guess since Miss Caddy didn’t grow up in a life of luxury she is more careful.

Feeling a bit better today. The flu is gone and I’m stuck with a sinus infection. This is the same thing I had before and I took antibiotics for it. I don’t like taking antibiotics anyway so I’m not taking antibiotics again. Natural remedies and my Neti pot are out.

My nephew’s cat, Deo, may be on her way to cross the Rainbow Bridge. She’s a wee 18 yr. old Tortie who’s not eating much and looking not good. I went and visited her today. She did eat some tuna but didn’t get up. That’s a key because she’s usually up and in your face. Please send thoughts for his girl.

    Chat later

    Crossover pic –

Good morning all. another gorgeous Autumnal day with sunshine and light breeze.
JJ, I won’t offer to take your rain as we have had several months of rain in recent weeks. I noticed the beginnings of a slip across the gully, nothing like that has happened the 30 odd years we have lived here.
JK, that is a great article of cats and war. Kiwis love their cats, wherever they are.
KZ, planting time for you and almost time here to stop planting out most veges. It is good that he got the planting priorities right this year. 😉 I hope you can find a way of keeping the raccoons and birds out as the sweetcorn ripens. Happy bean and cucumber planting.
JK, perfect pic about lunch as it’s lunchtime right now but first I have to hang out the washing.
I will be eating Mr MS’s lunch I made for him as he has a medical procedure/investigation tomorrow and can’t eat for 24 hours 🙁 His loss, my gain. 🙄
Hi KJ, yes it is interesting about boats/ships and cats and women. Another one I can add to that is never take a banana on a boat when going fishing as it will mean you catch nothing so are bad luck. BTW did you know that eating bananas can bind you up, not sure how many you would need to eat though.
Glad the appointment is over and now you are just waiting for the results of the blood tests. Have patience KJ, they don’t test each sample as it arrives but do them in big batches so as not to waste chemicals and reagents. I used to be a clinical biochem technician in the past. You and your Dr must have some pull to get the results so quickly. Wow, how many ways can you have eggs. Are you still allowed tea and toast to go with the eggs. Awwwww Dorry would love to have a henny friend.
    MMMM your dinner sounds good.
Awwwwwww JJ, your houseguest sounds adorable. Have you thought of getting a childs playpen and adapting it to keep kitty in and furkits out.
Lagatta you and JK are definitely our coffee lovers. Mainline coffee ! 😆
AV, I agree that Caddy’s senses are sharper for being an outside cat. Keep watching her and see if you can learn what she is reacting to.
I hope we will get pics of Caddy on her new ‘tree’ soon as it is constructed and in place.
Thank you PG for your thoughts and respect for the Anzacs.
Hope your neti pot does the trick for your sinus. I take odourless garlic and fenugreek tablets to help clear the sinus. We get them in Health Food shops and some supermarkets here.
Healing Energy for wee Deo and a gentle headbonk from another Torti who was feeling low recently.
Whatever Shadz was suffering from has finally done with her. Easter Sunday she showed much more energy, maybe because her big sister Airy was home. She has been eating more each meal and had 5 meals in one day recently. Last night she had a feast of fresh bunny, Daddy brought home 2 large rabbits and she was such a happy cat. I will have to ration it though or she would demand it for every meal.

MS, I have the results, that’s why I had to stay so long. Stomach thing is just a thing. But I’m still crampy despite the boring food, guess it takes some time. And it’s late so it’s bed for me.

    PG, prayers for Deo.
