Some countries (such as Canada) have turfed out the lowly penny in favour of more exhalted coinage. So purrhaps finding a penny is indeed lucky. For kits it’s simply “Show me the money.”

NZ tossed out the penny along with the pounds and shilling back on the 10th July 1967. We have been decimal ever since. I can remember that day, I was just a child and so very excited to see the new money we had been learning about.

Brrrrrr, late afternoon and beginning to get chilly. Timee I laid the fire and thought about HRH’s dinner. Our is in the slowcooker and the aroma is delicious. Tuscan beef.

Corporate Fat Cat! I’m going to remember that one about the fast food lane…hehehe. I wish we would get rid of pennies. It costs 1.50 cents to make a 1 cent penny. Go figure!

I’m going to plant my roses. I have a yellow rose and white rose plant.
Miss Gaea is very not happy with me because I didn’t let her out in the rain. The other thing that worries me is the traffic. In on our quiet neighborhood traffic has increased a lot. Most of the people drive too fast. *heavy sigh*

    Have a happy~

Awwww, PG your “good night” kit so resembles baby Dorry!

Weird re obsolescent penny. If I pay using credit card, well theoretically penny is still there. If I pay at the cash register price gets rounded up or down, ie item is .22 cents, I pay .20 cents, it costs .23 cents I pay .25 cents.

Manchester massacre brings back Paris massacre of 2015. 😥 😡 How do you fight those for whom human life has no value and who take immense pride in becoming suicide bombers? I have more thoughts – not for here.

Yes, I have been walking around with flat ears a lot these days….

Great pics today guys! Beautiful Tuesday here, spring/summer like with rain storms expected tomorrow. I need to get my tomatoes in, so I’d best get started.

Hope to check in later all!

Good morning! Penny is the cutest cat name, IMO. Might have to use it some day if I ever have the opportunity. Emily was definitely an Emily and Lucy needed a red head name.

Electrician is here today. Most of the lighting was built into the old cabinets so he’s installing some lights and taking care of a couple of other things. The cabinets are in and half the countertops. They are rebuilding a section of counter because they forgot the overhang for the pass thru to the family room. Can’t do the backsplash til the counter is complete. But things are coming along.

Oh, and they still need to do the cat seat/bay window area….best for last. They’re a smaller company, so they don’t have a whole crew dedicated just to our job, but they are getting something done each day…looking great too. Very happy with the quality of the work.

Cat relations are on pause with all the upheaval. They’ve had some setbacks and I’m just keeping them mostly separated until things settle down. Leo and Emily are at least fine together.

Good morning – funny pics. The truck sent me into a gigglefest! Just the other day I picked up a couple of pennies while out for a walk.
Our very own Leeny’s cat is named Penny. Has anyone heard any updates from her? Hope I didn’t miss anything; more importantly, I hope Miss Penny is doing okay.
Yum, Tuscan beef in the slow cooker! The wonderful aroma drifted through the wormhole earlier.
I’m late with starting my tomatoes. Hope you get yours done today, KZ.
Those kitchen improvements sound great, ECB! How nice it will be when everything is finished. Then, of course, you get to resume sorting out the cats. I just saw an ad for a Jackson Galaxy product for bully cats. Wondering if it might help Mac. He seems to need to prove he should be the alpha. No one else wants the title, but everyone knows Leela stands above them all, and even Mac won’t challenge her.
I am so sad over the events in England. There is so much good in the world, though – we must always remember that. Bad apples selfishly destroy so much. (Apologies to apples.)
It is a grey day here in Jersey, but the rain has moved out. Wee Aslan is running around – he can go anywhere in the house except the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. He has been playing with toys I forgot we had!

    RIP Sir Roger Moore

OK, so back in the day when he played “The Saint” I had a crush on him. He vied for my “attention” with Robert Vaughn as Napoleon Solo.

Yeah, PG. I could have bet on the sort of non-person who committed Manchester atrocity – and won the bet. And all we hear is sound bytes from all and sundry – will anything ever be done? OK, KJ, dial it back.

Sad, yeah, but more like this:

Did save money today as I street find. Had a choice of carved Colonial style, spindle back arm chairs, plus a rocker. Solid wood, trust me on this. I took the very best chair and carrying it home – solid wood for sure, not quite sure how I managed it, way heavy. Srs sanding, cleaning, and now it’s got a new home in my bedroom, festooned with purrfect fit seat pad, cushions and a teddy bear! Admittedly one of my best street finds.

Let us see this find, KJ! I love antique furniture.

This weekend, I hurt my left leg muscle. I did the Tylenol and ice/heat for it. When I got up Monday it hurt even more so same thing and went easy when swimming. I’ve been hobbling around since Monday evening because the pain got worse. When I got up the morning, I couldn’t bend or straighten my leg without severe pain. So what do I do, I go work outside. I was putting weed remover out front, hobbling on, but determined to finish. Well my left leg, at the knee, locked up in a spasm. I fell over and my neighbor came out and was going to help me home. I couldn’t move so she and a guy next door helped carry me home. I went the ER and found I pulled my medial Gastrocnemius muscle. That’s the muscle between the knee and calf.

I’m home on muscle relaxants and Tylenol. I didn’t want any opiates. I insist that everyone feel sorry for me but I’m not getting much response. 👿 😥

Even my gang don’t feel sorry for me. After all I do for them…

Good afternoon all. No frost this morning(yay) and the day has been pleasantly warm until now, the clouds are coming over and showers are close behind. HRH is soaking up as much of the sun as she can.
PG, LOL at the truck/penny pic.
KJ, I agree with you on those who have no respect for human life. 👿 Just been watching the news from the UK and seeing a father asking passers by if they have seen his daughter was heartbreaking.
KZ, good luck with the tomatoes and I hope you get a bumper crop this Summer.
Renovations in the kitchen sound great ECB, at least the cats have called a truce while that is happening and I am sure the new seating for looking out of the window will keep them entranced after it is all done.
JJ, dinner was delicious and with enough left over for Mr MS to take a food flask of it and I also have some to take to Mum to pop in the freezer for one of those night when cooking is just too much bother.
Awwww Aslan is finding long forgotten toys.
Waving to JK, I’ll share some purrrzz with that beautiful kit.
    Yes, RIP Roger More.
I have been enjoying The Persuaders TV programme recently with Tony Curtis and Roger Moore.
Loved The Saint and The Man from U.N.C.L.E
KJ, I am so envious of the great selection of street finds you come across. The chair sounds great. Yes, pic please.
PG, how terrible that you ended up in such a situation. Thank goodness you have concerned neighbours. Just looked up that muscle, ouch ! painful.
I am now making a concerned face 😕 just for you. I insist Miss Gaea etc(I have forgotten their names) start their nursing duties right away and pamper you relentlessly. Take it easy and be gentle with yourself PG.

PG, now I have to go and look up that muscle! For heaven’s sake woman, sometimes you need to just give it a rest….I say this knowing full well I probably would have done the same thing. *sigh* Except that I don’t have close neighbors and would have been laying there for a loooong time.. 😮 Hoping your cats will give you snuggles while you are resting.

JJ, that pic of the truck made me laugh too, what a clever saying to go with that pic!

I did get my tomatoes planted, plus some cucumbers and green beans. My onions are coming along nicely and could possibly eat them in a few days.

Those pictures are great, MS. I love the lionesses, rhinos, giraffe… 😆

Isn’t it nice to feel the sunshine? HRH does!

I’m glad you planted the maters, cukes and beans. I gave up on growing things because I wasn’t growing anything. I was committing vega-cide. One must accept ones’ limitations.

C**p PG, as I was reading of your injury I said to myself, pulled muscle. And you waited 3 days and still kept pushing yourself? Not the leg with the knee that’s giving you probs? I really hope that injury heals quickly. I would have had to call the ambulance myself. I’ve learned not to expect any sympathy whatsoever from Dorry. But I do feel sorry for you.

As I no longer have the power to post pics, I’m going to send you and MS pic of chair offline. My biceps are already acknowledging that I carried home a way heavy chair. Think I’ll take some Tylenol just because.

MS, love the animals. The laughing lionesses! and the zebras. When I was a kid there was a song “The Horse in the Striped Pyjamas.”

Livia is such a cuddlebug that it feels like empathy. Perhaps she is simply frileuse (always cold).

Remember that the last terrorist who specifically targeted a large crowd of teens and children was a Norwegian, at Utoya. There are historical and sociological reasons why certain pernicious movements develop among specific groups, but all humans have the capacity for good or evil.

I found some pennies in an earthenware jar yesterday, doing spring cleaning. Not enough to turn in at the bank. I confess that I put them back in the jar after washing it. I got rid of a lot of other stuff though, and even took items too unwieldy to carry on my bicycle to a charity shop by bus. Feels good.
