Take a breather, and go for a relaxing ride. You don’t need a destination to enjoy this day. But, you can certainly bring family or friends along for company. Or kits!

I’d gone for rides on my bike every single day since very early spring … until yesterday. Not that there was much snow, but here there was a fine layer of ice as the rain turned to snow. Even walking was a bit perillous. It will remain fairly cold, but with luck the damned stuff will melt this time and I can get a bit more much-needed exercise.

Taking Livia to the doc’s for her examinations, shots and Nasty Operation, I carried her in her cat-carrier; though I walked, didn’t cycle. To take her on the bicycle safely, I’d need one of those little trailers for children, or a cargo bike. Those are increasingly popular, but pricy.

When I was a teenager I had a Siamese tom who liked to ride on my shoulders. Unfortunately, and unusually for a Siamese, he grew to about 17lb – he wasn’t fat, just very large for his breed! But he still loved that ride, and I put up with it because I loved him.

Top O the Morning everyone! …. wow, Lagatta, 17 lbs would be a large Siamese! My Abby is only 11 lbs.

Mr. AV and I used to bike along Bayshore, but our bikes got stolen a few years ago, and we just haven’t replaced them …. our stupid City decided to make ‘bike lanes’ in the road ways (totally confusing), so instead of using the wide side walks (that are out of the roads) now we all deal with what I call the ‘extreme’ bikers who race down the middle and side of our busy streets ….. honestly, accidents waiting to happen …. half of them have earbuds in – totally tuned out to what’s going on around them …. expecting the drivers (recall this is the tourist and retirement capital) to not make a mistake and hit them …..

ok, enough of my rant (sorry) ….. a beautiful sunny and cool day here, looks like Thanksgiving will also be beautiful, but cooler in LV where we’re headed to spend it with Son ……

    Have a great Tuesday all!

Broken Silver and cool cat/dog – LOL

Today is vet. day as well, Lagatta. Miss Gaea’s annual exam is November. It’s rain/snowing so when she went out, Miss Gaea wasn’t happy AND when she came in I dried her off. She hates that. No doubt I’ll hear how put upon she is today. 🙄

When we get back, I’ll make some more cookies. Yum! I’ll send some through the wormhole…

    Cya and have a happy~

Good morning – “Mah invisible bike.” Heh.
17 lbs riding on your shoulders sure is hefty, Lagatta, but also well worth it for a kitty you love.
Yeesh, bike lanes in the middle of the road? What rocket scientist came up with that one, AV? Bike riding up here is not very safe on these narrow, winding roads with lots of blind spots.
Good luck to Livia and Miss Gaea at the vet today.
Oooh, cookies, yum! *places plate at the wormhole”
My pea soup came out really good. It started out vegetarian, then took some out and added bacon seasoning and cubed ham. Sending some of each through the wormhole to TDK land.
Going for a ride in a car is not as fun these days for the state that lives in the shadow of New York City. A magic carpet ride would be awesome…

Oh JJ, you pea soup sounds delish! I love soups when the weather gets chilly!

I would swear they were ‘smoking something’ when they devised/painted the bike lanes ….. on the one way streets, most of them go down the middle of the road, then cross over to one side as it nears a busy intersections. Which means drivers must now remember to look over their right shoulders before turning right, otherwise they would hit a biker coming up behind them ….. it’s really insane! And down Bayshore, they are on the sides of the street, but it gets narrow in places, so much so that if there are two cars traveling side by side (each way is 2 lanes), it’s scary to have to pass a biker – and the speed limit on Bayshore is 40 mph ….. crazy!!

    Afternoon all!

Even walking in my city is getting to be not so much fun. Too much construction. And on way to art lecture got stopped by police for not wanting to follow detour rules. Fortunately was not ticketed and lecture started a bit late as others seem to have encountered same predicament.

Here’s serendipity. Lecture was about artist, much of whose work focuses on women and bicycles and entitled “Women and Wheels”. Theme is how bike-riding is empowering, and more which I will not go into. And all the women are nekked. Why? For a time I just might be envisioning spin bike cohorts in the all-together! 😆

In his discussion as to what constitutes art he showed us slide of – and I kid you not – c**p in a can. Selling for ridiculous amount. And if the can is opened value degrades, so no one know for certain what is actually in the can. Why? Then again, what if I collected some of Dorry’s litter in a can. Could I reap the big bucks as this being high art? Hmmm … purrhaps not.

More serendipity. As posted last week I had to surrender some excellent wood crown mouldings that N. and I had big deco plans for as they were part of a reno. Well this am enough pieces to make a pic frame plus other pieces that will be ideal as shelving were left outdoors for genuine trash pick-up. Neatly boxed too They are now mine. The mouldings need some sawing down and N. made me promise to let her do the sawing part. She will do a proper job and more importantly sawing/KJ not a good plan. My honour is at stake here, so I will keep to this.

Cold and damp outside. Even having turned the heat way up I still feel chilled. Guess taking a srsly hot bath l8r will help. I’d best get with the program as this is what we’re in for over next few months. But still enjoy the quarterly variance in weather, if onluy for fashion reasons. 😉

OK TDKers-here’s the plate of freshly baked Shortbread, Orange Almond Biscotti, and Pfeffernusse (German Spice) Cookies coming through the wormhole. Enjoy with some coffee or tea!

Just getting into the cafe today….wanted to be here, just couldn’t get here. BUT, I will put my bowl by the wormhole for some of JJ’s pea soup (YUMMMM) and PG’s cookies….thanks guys!!

Oh, and KJ, don’t be embarrassed by thinking yesterdays kit was my Willow. No biggie at all, and he’s just glad that you thought of him. He is such a sweet natured cat, always looking for lovings and then to Leona’s dismay at mealtime, he’s always trying to corral her by her bowl. He is such a BOY!! 😀
The weather here today was very nice after a very cold start. No wind to speak of, sun shining, and it felt fairly warm, probably because it LOOKED warm. Tomorrow we are supposed to get freezing rain, YUCK, but I can’t imagine it sticking around too long as the temps will be in the 40’s.

AV, seriously, don’t you wonder what they pay these highway engineers when they engineer roads to be so deadly? The roads here would be like JJ’s, you take your own risks on travelling the roads on a bike. We have a wonderful bike trail though, and it starts in the town I grew up in and goes all the way to the Ohio River!!! The only trouble with it is that it goes through some pretty seedy parts of some towns and you occasionally have to cross some intersections to get to the other parts of the trail. They have followed the railroad tracks that have been removed to make these bike trails, and the views are really scenic. Maybe one of the days, I’ll get to ride my bike again and travel the trails again!! 😎

THis is late and I don’t know if you will be able to see the video (it was posted to a Facebook group I belong to or not.) But it is Luka Bloom’s The Ride (a song about bike riding) set to a video of a bike ride on Inis Mor in Ireland.

    Go for a Ride

KJ – this has become my go to warm up song for DIY Spin.

In general, bike lanes should be in the road, not sidewalks, which are for pedestrians. An exception is small children. If the sidewalks are extremely wide (more than is needed not only for an average pedestrian but also a parent pushg a stroller or pram, or a disabled person in a mobility device) some of the sidewalk width could be reduced at well as the road’s. If cyclists are breaking laws, they should be ticketed just as motorists are. Here wearing two earbuds or headphones is illegal for all. I would have thought that where you live, there would be a lot of elderly people cycling slowly on bicycles and adult tricycles.
