Good morning! Love the photos today. “The Gulf of Linoleum”…lol. Carla in then last photo reminds me of hubby. You probably have to hear him tell the story, but he tells of asking for a boat for Christmas when he was little and getting a little plastic boat to sit in (like those little toddler cars). He, of course, meant a REAL boat. The funny thing is he thought, “if I had only been clearer about what I wanted.” Hee.

We’re cleaning houses Mon, Tues, and Wed this week. Then we’ll have to get into a school year schedule and not do more than two in a week. Schoolyear type things already starting up. Older son has a pre-season soccer activity around dinner time tonight.

I hear you ECB and LOL! When I was a kid and we’d ask for car peeps would get those little “Dinky” cars, articulated and all, came in a little box, but not exactly road-worthy! 😉
I too would want a yacht, with a captain to steer the thing, so I can relate to your hubby and Carla!
School mode already? It’s only August! We didn’t start back until after Labour Day. Guess there’s so much more to learn these days. *Sighs*

Amazing how earlier and earlier it seems that school starts each year! First morning in a long time I awoke and it wasn’t raining …. altho looking at the news, half my city is still flooded!

The orange face was at the door this morning, so Tues is starting off well! Have a good one all!

I thought of you first thing this morning AV, as the Weather Channel is showing pics of Tampa and all the flooding. Of course you will stay safe and out of the fast moving currents…and if need be, pull Sal inside the glass sliding doors!! 😮
School starts way too early here anymore, there really is no rhyme or reason to it IMHO. The 19th here, which is the week after our fair is over. We barely have enough time to get supplies and clothes. Why the rush anyway? No one’s head is in the game in the middle of August. After labor day is soon enough to start.
Hope Joan is okay as the storms seem to be rocking the North East too.
Avery is off to the doctor today with mommy, as she woke up with a fever in the night. This virus is the gift that keeps on giving. I feel pretty good, but after coughing for two days, my back is having spasms. 😡 So I’m walking around like the ‘crooked old man’…makes me pissy enough to kick puppies. (not really 😉 )

Good morning – that must have been a special cat for the hat’s owner to let him sleep on it!
Now retired, my boat is riding on the woodburner for the summer; it spent many summer vacations riding the Atlantic Ocean.
Around here, school starts in early September, though in at least some states, school starts earlier. We used to vacation the 3rd week in August down in the Outer Banks of North Carolina and sometimes school was in session while we were there.
Had some nasty gusty t-storms last night – nice to see the lawn and gardens get a good soaking. Mac was on the bed, but he jumped ship, presumably frightened by the bright lightening and loud thunder.

Aww, Mac. Glad you have a home now to weather the storms. Eko is like you…straight under the bed at the first sound of thunder. I always for get he’s scared of storms since he is usually the least scaredy cat of the cats. I forget until I say, “where’s Eko?” Then I remember.

Sorry about your back, KZ. Back pain is so annoying…seems like nothing helps but time. Mine has been wanting to act up, but I’ve been trying too keep problems at bay with stretching and yoga. Better go do a little now before my tough house this afternoon.

Haven’t decided on a definite start date for our homeschool. Need to check local school districts dates. We often try to stick pretty close to those as a guide…with flexibility of course.

Loved the photos today, KJ! If I was more computer-savvy I’d post a pic of my Jes in his mini-tent pirate ship (made of nylon & plastic, complete w sail: amazing the cat-toys/cubbies you can find out there!)
ECB, one Christmas my niece asked for a teacup poodle (one of those itty bitty dogs you carry in your purse) and my sis gave her a china teacup w/ a BeanieBaby poodle inside! Not exactly what niece was hoping for.
Shoutout to Danielle: thanks for giving me a nudge to come visit. I’ve neglected TDK far too long!

Prairiecat, I’ve never met you so Hi. I’ve been around about 2 years and it’s cool to hear from TDK pioneers. If you have an online account with a photo account you can post through them. I use Photobucket.com as do many other TDKers. On photobucket, upload your photos then open your library. Select the photo(s), go to the side bar and click on “Direct” then come to TDK and paste your pics. Let us know if you have any questions.

    Hi Everybody,

Great theme. I, too, love the Gulf of Linoleum.

Yea, Big Sal. I’m sure Miss Abby is a happy camper. The school years are different from Denver to Lakewood to Pueblo. The state of Colorado can’t even set the same start time? My gang of furballs don’t really care about the storms unless the lightening/thunder is in their backyard.

    PC!!!!!! *Waves madly*
100% the truth, I was just thinking of you as last night, when checking over the holiday list. Was considering contacting you offline, but didn’t want to pry. So good to see you.
As PG said, getting Photobucket account is easy and I’m no tech whiz! It’s what I use to store/post pics to open Café. Or as Plan B, if you e-mail me the pic offline I’ll gladly post it on TDK for you.
Please don’t be a stranger – you’re one of our TDK stalwarts and I missed you!

JK, I looked up that book PUMPKIN CAT on Amazon and there were some others about cats, that are adorable as well!!! I think I will buy some of these for BD or Christmas gifts for the little ones in my life. BOOKS are awesome! My “great” nephew is going to be 3 in Nov and it would be a perfect book for his BD and for fall. Even if I wait a year or two…. Thanks for sharing!

Hi everyone – spent some time down the valley at mom’s. She looks forward to Tuesdays when 3 out of 5 of us kids descend on her house for lunch. Sister has Linus, her foster baby in tow wherever she goes. He is 5 weeks old now, and starting to get around a bit, a long way from the helpless thing he was only a few weeks ago.
Sorry you’re having back spasms, KZ – that’s no fun at all. I hope Avery feels better real soon. 🙂
ECB, I think it’s so cool that you homeschool your boys. It’s great that you sort of follow the local school calendar but have the freedom to be flexible to suit what works for your family.
Hi PC! *waiving madly* Hope you are well and I hope Jes is well also. Please give him some scritches from Auntie Joan in TDK land.
PG, the cat pouting in his boat is one of my favorite ‘cat-isms’!
Hey there, JK – hope you didn’t snooze too long on the patio! Just have to say, your post and the picture on the soup thread brought up a funny memory. When we had the house renovated, we stayed for a month in the house next door to my mom. She owns the house, and was looking to rent it. She was worried that if someone came in while we were out, Baby Leela might get out of the house. So she put a post-it on the door saying ‘Cat inside, do not let out’. Within only a few days, she had it rented for the following month, so she brought the post-it in and stuck it on the only piece of holiday décor we had, a pumpkin (we were there for the month of October). So there in the living room was a big pumpkin with a note stuck to it that said, “cat inside, do not let out’!

*skids* in the café …… waving to all! PC, nice to see you back! …. been a semi-dry day for a change here! ….. roads are starting to abate, but many parts of the city are still having issues! ….

…. today Abby had an absolute yak-fest! *sighs* ….. she was SO hungry she gobbled her breakfast … promptly yakked …. lunch was ok, I fed her a couple of bites at a time …. just now, I put her usual half can dinner down, and she hovered it, and I’m hearing the ‘hicca hicca’ sounds in the other room as I type …. ugh! I’d best go check the living room floors!

…. got a really LOT done today! feeling good about the week! …. hope everyone is having a good afternoon! HUMP DAY tomorrow!!!

Just where was the COA warning to go along with that adorable quartet of kitties, JK ❓ Those teensy tails!!!!!!! 2 Basement kitties and 2 Moo kitties, how cute is that!
So today I discovered that a breadmaking machine is in no way light. Went to a liquidation store to score gift for friend’s b-day, ’cause she’s a real cook and wants to do homemade bread. Also bought her some gadget that dispenses batter, ie cupcakes, muffins evenly. So as I did not want to case out the entire place I went to clerk and told him that I wanted 2 items from their flyer. So he asks if I want him as well. I kid you not! He was not bad looking, and I was not putting out any flirting vibes. How to respond? Told him that I’d give it a think after he sourced out my other 2 items. Hehehe. Getting breadmaking machine home via public transport was mega effort, but friend is so worth it.
Then went out again to p/u street find as small table with 2 drawers. After I cleaned it and freshened it up with paint realized that I have no place for it. 🙁 Can’t bring myself to put it back on street, so same friend told me to hold it for her as she might want it. It’s so cute, it deserves a good home. Anyway, sprucing up the thing kept me busy.
Hope that you feel better KZ. Anything that aches is major annoyance. My only fallback (after frantic calls to physio) is ice, pain killers and Epsom salt baths, but my physio swears by icing everything.

Good morning all. It’s wet wet here but the good thing is no wind so I can have the door open so HRH can take herself inside and outside as she pleases. We had a half hour long cuddlefest this morning, she was in a very snuggly mood for some reason.
Love the pics, ‘gulf on linoleum’ had me LOL.
ECB, poor hubby, those sorts of disappointments never leave you either. Mine concerned a pony and rollerskates. 🙁
AV, not raining there? ? ? Well it is here ! ! ! !Have you had that tutu on and have you been redirecting the rain by any chance? ? ? 👿
Joan, glad the lawns and gardens got a hood soaking lastnight but did the t-storms have to come along for the ride too. Poor Mac, I bet he was happy to be inside now.
KZ, sorry about the cough related back problems.
Hi PC, great to see you again. Waving madly in your direction.
Talk about disappointing gifts, daughter Airy was asked what she would like for her birthday several years ago and her reply was ‘the world on a platter’. I took that literally and gave her a globe of the world on a silver platter. She had to laugh as that was what she had asked for. I did have real gift for her. Be careful what you ask for around me, I like to play with words and phrases.
    😆
Great pic PG, love the boat has a problem, Shadz used to play in a similar ‘boat’ when she was younger.
Joan, Tuesdays must be full of laughter when you get together for lunch at ‘home’. My Mum gets me and on occasions my brother as the other two live in other cities and we don’t often get together all at the same time. Squeeeeeee, Linus cuddles too.
    LOL at the pumpkin funny.
AV, *hicka hicka* usually follows quickly after the hovering of food.
KJ ! Woohoo you cougar! Breadmakers are terribly heavy, you have my respect for lugging it back home on public transport.
I am sorry but I had to LOL at you finding no room for your latest street find. You probably wouldn’t have had room for the liquidation store”find” either had you brought him home although he could have carried the breadmaker for you.
HRH Shadz has just walked in and plopped herself down on the coffee table and she is damp, guess she has been outside watching the rain fall. Lunch time now, off to see what I have that’s hot as it is getting cold.

I suspect Kj could’ve found “room” for her liquidation store find. Although, Dorian Gray, Esq. would not be pleased.
