In honour of American Independence Day the All-Star Kitty Band is practicing their very special version of “The Purrs and Stripes Furrever” for the Purrade.

It’s 4th of July everywhere – Happy Independence Day America
Happy 4th of July! I hope you take this time to celebrate one of the most important things about being an American: 3-day weekends.

The reference to ” … lolfriends overseas who risk their lives to make it possible.” got me all teary-eyed – but so very true!

Guess “Boorn in the USA” kitty is a “Bruce” aficionado. As many of us are! And he’s from NJ – just like our JJ!

Evening all. Long day here with no power and I am

Had to see the Dr today and by the time I had my appointment I was feeling pretty awful and the bloodtests I had yesterday confirmed that I am sick. hoping it’s just a relatively benign virus and not the flu. Temps, sore glands, headaches, drippy nose(yuk!) and generally feeling pretty low. 😥
JJ, I see one family got to enjoy the state beach in NJ today.
    Nuff said.
LOL on a cat named ‘back up’

Yes, and for Moonshadow these are the shortest days of the year… Do hope you are feeling better. With no power, can you even make tea or have some warming soup? If only I could send those virtually, along with some snuggles from Livia.

The COA wee dark tuxie can make an encore appearance for le 14 juillet (Fête nationale in France, known in the anglosphere as Bastille Day – actually it commemorates that and la Fête de la fédération in 1790 a year later).

I’m sorry that our friends in New Jersey can’t take advantage of their ocean beach parks today … except a certain gubernatorial NJ family. By the way, all Canadian National Parks are free of charge this year – that includes some very large parks with camping and hiking facilities.

Are any of our friends in the US having a picnic or barbecue? Many people here had yesterday off as Canada Day fell on a Saturday this year (others had Friday off). So today is just a normal working day. Have a happy and safe holiday, humans, cats and other creatures.

MS, I hope you are feeling better today. Those types of viruses lay you low and if you don’t take care they linger for weeks! I hope with your power being out you can still flush your toilet 😳 because at my house I wouldn’t be able to.

Nothing much planned for today. It’s really hot and steamy here and I may try to pull a few weeds, but then again I may not. 😀

Happy Independence Day!!! I like the lazy but patriotic parade.

New Jersey is open for business today, yay!

MS, I sure hope you feel better soon. Ditto, KZ, when the power goes out we don’t have water either. Depending on the season we either gather snow in buckets or get some water from the lake.

I’m bringing a picnic to mom’s today. Made potato salad, jello salad, brownies and cut up a watermelon. Tonight hubby and I will have the same, with the addition of whatever he grills. I’d love to have corn on the cob, but it’s too early for sweet Jersey corn. Jersey blueberries are deliciously in season though!

I’m sorry you’re not well, MS, and I hope you have better insurance than we do:

Hopefully, HRH is being a good purramedic!

We can still use toilet when the power is out. That’s the advantage of an outhouse. 😆 😆

Yesterday was nephews’ birthday, so that’s when we had our cookout. Good times!

I always enjoy corn on the cob when grilling but I don’t like just any corn. Back up is too funny! Did someone ring the governor and thank him for letting the rest of NJ use the beaches? 🙄

I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue – “Airplane” is on. I forgot how incredibly silly this movie…even after all these years.

A wonderful story – freedom from pain and loneliness:

Happy 4th all! Lazy here for me, Mr. AV and Scottie set a Steele beam for gable end bracing the golf studio ….. I sat on the porch with Caddy and supervised lol! We will bbq later (if they can stay awake) …..

Oops, I’m being paged to go to HD for 8 more bags of concrete …. L8R all!

PG, so that explains it! (The glue) Hehehe! 😉
Well that story about Barnaby could be a test as to whether my waterproof eye make-up lives up to its claims. Wonderful, caring NJ peeps (in addition to our JJ). As opposed to NJ governor!

Good morning all, still feeling awful with the crud but HRH has been so cuddly. Every time I sit down she comes over and puts a paw on my leg and asks to be picked up and then snuggles on my shoulder. It is very difficult to eat and drink with her there but we cuddle for about 10 minutes before I put her back on the floor.
Thankfully the power was a scheduled cut and I was prepared with a thermos but spent most of the time at Mums place. Just got another notification of a further power cut in a week for pole and line maintenance.
Thank you all for your wonderful wishes for improved health. 🙂 🙂
KZ, no worry about flushing toilets as we are on city water mains supply. Phone was out as we are on Ultra Fast Broadband and landline is VOIP. No power = no phone. Not great if a quake takes power out as we used to be able to plug in older non digital phones.
JJ, the picnic sounds wonderful as does dinner. How I am hankering for long hot days and warm evenings. Do you salt your watermelon? KK introduced me to that and what a difference a little salt makes to the melon.
PG, I would LOL if it didn’t hurt my throat, that pic is hilarious. We have no blame accident cover in NZ, a reasonable free public health system and health insurance if you can afford it. Send in the Care Bear.
Purramedic is super cute and it may visit when it’s off duty for some snuggling. Beautiful story about Barnaby the scraggly cat. 😥 🙂
AV, so quickly from supervisor to minion.
Lunch time. I made a slowcooker full of vegetable soup enhanced with a minced chorizo sausage. Mmmmmmm zingy

Sorry the crud has you down for the count, MS. Sounds like HRH is really stepping up as your nurse. Hope you start feeling better soon.
Mom enjoyed the picnic, having a bit of everything. We were inside, of course, as she can’t get out, but it was nice to have a festive meal. I haven’t tried salt on watermelon…yet. Can’t seem to wrap my head around it. Stay tuned, maybe I’ll jump in and try it as I have leftovers!

Let me speak as somewhat of a watermelon conisieur, cause it’s so abundant in Fla. salted is the only way I’ll eat it ….. other than when we bore a hole in it, pour (spike) it with good Russian vodka, let it sit in a ice cooler for a few hours, then enjoy!
Might be dangerous to tell KK this …… lol

LOL, I like the way you think AV.
I will pass that on to KK about the spiking but knowing KK she probably has already tried this.
The day has become quite grey and drear here and a chill is seeping in. Brrr
