Morning KJ – wonderful selection if hat wearing kitties!
Leela got up with me so I closed that bathroom door tight so Comet couldn’t get in. Carried her out so he wouldn’t chase him. Of course she growled, already agitated about him being on the other side of the door. Comet then came in and enjoyed his share if scritches and I ran the water for him for a bit – he loves to play with water!
Off to start my day – hello yo all who visit TDK land!

Super cute theme and photos today. Love the lynx in the sink and the mouse strategy. Eko is fascinated with water, Joan, but he hasn’t quite gotten to where he’ll play with it. He sits like a gargoyle by the sink though, watching. And he’ll go in the shower right after we use it and walk around checking it out.

Hubby starts his two year paid (yay, a paycheck)residency today. :). Made sure he had a healthy breakfast and a lunch to take with him. Trying to research some lunch ideas (besides plain old sandwiches, which make him want chips) for him. I got canned salmon from Costco and am looking at some websites for salmon salad or salmon patty ideas. Might try to make a quinoa salad with salmon. Today he got a chicken salad I made. Boys and I go to clean my easy condo this afternoon. This will be our first time working the cleaning into our school routine. Will save some of their reading for them to do while I clean.

Good morning Joan and ECB! Joan hope your day and week is less stressful than it has been. Love the water playing cats…all my cats love the sink and the shower, but Willow will actually get under running faucet water and then flips his paws making a fantastic mess!
ECB, I am the same way with sandwiches making me want chips. I try buying cauliflower, radishes and carrots and then cut them so they are ready to eat at any time. I don’t know if it’s the chips I crave or the crunch of something, but it works for me and is filling but nutritious at the same time. Helps me with the crunch craving!
Rainy here AGAIN today, so motivation isn’t there. Mr. KZ just left and so it’s just me and the cats for now.

oi! the babushka kitty made me LOL!

…. EC, ‘Stacey’ brand makes a yummy veggie chips – includes beets, sweet potatoes, etc….. very yummy and healthy, and I couldn’t make them as good!

…. quinoa salmon salad is yummy (I make it like tuna salad with celery/onion/mayo) and paired with Brown Rice ‘sea salt/black pepper’ trisket, it’s heaven! …. good for lunch options ….. can also add boiled eggs if you like ….

…. back in full swing today, SO glad I worked yesterday, cause I’d really be behind if not 🙂 …. check in later during a break!

I like the lynx in the sink – very pretty ears.
Have stopped being sick! Yay! Also, have bathed a cat which is something I have never done before in my life. Poor Louis- he was cooperative in a ‘we’re all doomed’ sort of way. I couldn’t find a mark on him following on from the run in with the dog yesterday. He is lying out in the sun- bet his old bones ache (he did get halfway up a tree at one point).
Dog turns out not to have been a Jack Russell but a yorkie/chihuahua cross (lucky for L I think). My boys obviously don’t have a clue when it comes to identifying dog breeds! The lady who owns dog called round to check on L and to say that small dog will always be on a lead in future. She was v upset and had not slept all night. So, I think we have survived that one.

I am always looking for good packed lunch ideas. Youngest son just told me about a layered salad with gummy bears in it that is actually a thing! It starts out like a layered salad and then has gummy bears and crisps as the last 2 layers (with Mayo in between). Maybe not I think!

Morning (or afternoon) all! Especially Buttons in this too quiet Café!
Glad your tummy troubles have eased up Judith. And that L is OK and owner is aware of where she is errant. Think that there is are laws here about dogs not being allowed off leash except in specific fenced-in dog parks, and i assume responsible owners should be aware of whether even if allowed off leash they should not attempt this with their dog. Nevertheless I do see dogs being walked off leash on sidewalk. Never attempted to give kit a bath, sense that endeavor would be placing life and limb at risk LOL.
Got up way early for gym. having a “bad hair day”, generally happens when something is troubling me that i cannot control. Anyway off to hair stylist for trim, often find that even this doesn’t help, until day or so passes or I come to grips with what’s getting at me. He told me that men have bad hair days too, where things just don’t feel “right”. Surprised me, thought it was a “girl” thing. Well, L8R.
For packed lunches my standby is sandwiches, one all types of breads, egg salad, tuna, cheese, also crunchy peanut butter/honey is good. As long as there’s a latte close to hand as well LOL.

    EC,

I love this Hummus Egg Salad-
    3 hard-boiled egg whites, chopped
    3 tablespoons prepared hummus
    1 pinch celery seed
salt and ground black pepper to taste
1 dash hot pepper sauce (optional)

    1. Mix chopped egg whites, hummus, celery seed, salt, black pepper, and hot pepper sauce in a bowl. Refrigerate for 2 hours to overnight. Serve up in a bowl or on pita bread.

    Hi KZ!
It’s quiet in Café – too quiet. Kits must be up to something LOL. So hope that your day is going well. Just got back from hair stylist, with this cut now on 5-week between trims schedule, as at that point I’m tempted to do it myself – a bad plan! As mentioned in thread of a while ago on haircuts, this is the best one that I’ve had ever and I can get same result on my own.
Then put together a list of suggested tunes for a spin instructor who is teaching her first paid class on Thursday, she did a demo class for 3 of us yesterday and she has terrific potential, plus she’s an outdoor biker so she knows what she’s talking about aside from her certification course. I have like 1,065 songs to choose from so was very hard to limit myself to about 30 or so.
Anyway off to do chores as in fold laundry and have some lunch. Probably will check in L8R!

HI KJ!! Yes, it’s quiet in the cafe today! My day is going well, and it is quite relaxing after a hectic weekend, which I needed. Made an appointment today with orthopedic doctors recommended by my OB/GYN (whom I trust implicitly) after having my annual phys. last week. So, called the number and they have an office in my home town much closer than what I had originally thought! Thrilled to get in this week, and only 10 minutes from home. Kind of nervous to start this whole process though, but am wanting to be able to walk, hike and do yoga like I always have until I stepped on that blasted cat toy!!! I have procrastinated for way too long, but just don’t like to do the doctor thing aside from the usual yearly physical appointments.
Hey, I hear you on cutting your hair yourself, soooo tempted, but yes, not a good plan! I too, like my hair now…well almost. I am letting the top grow because for some reason she and I were not on the same page even though I had a picture. Amazing to me how 2 people can look at the same picture and come away with different ideas…I like the bottom kept short but want the top much longer. If I can’t get this look, I will just grow this whole d#*n mess out, still keeping it short. She has just cut too many layers (they call it texturizing) into my hair. Once a couple of weeks have passed after having hair cut, it just looks unkempt and shaggy. That’s why my thick hair needs to be untexturized and kept as unlayered as possible, even though short. I use my flat iron to straighten it and give it some kind of a style, and use a spray wax that is awesome because you can still move it around with your fingers, but is humidity resistant!!
Trying to recharge my ipod shuffle, which I love using on my elyptical, I think it was almost dead, it’s taking forever. Haven’t tried spinning classes, but youngest daughter did it through her work before she became pregnant. She really enjoyed it and may take it up again after returning to work.
Great recipes PG and AV and I am going to try some tonight I think. I love hummus and need to get some. Well, will check in later everyone, and hope your day has been as good as mine!

Afternoon all! … oh PG, that hummus/egg salad looks yummy! I love hummus! I’ll have to try that!

…. had a frustrating day, just had a ‘tif’ with a builder, who condensendingly tried to tell me I was wrong about the building inspection process that I had relayed to my client ….. two phone calls later to the building supervisor, turns out I was correct afterall (I think he was trying to invent an excuse for dragging their feet) …. funny how we hold the same building license, but I guess because I’m ‘just’ a woman, I cannot possibly understand the process ….. normally, I don’t get riled up and fire back, but it made me look stupid in front of my client, and that is unacceptable ….. who looks stupid now 🙂

…. sorry for the ‘vent’ ….. I’ll get my fluffy back …… on a brighter note, I’m having a good hair day! LOL …. I guess frustration doesn’t affect my locks cooperation!

Ooh, thanks for the recipes/ideas, PG and AV! I love hummus and make it sometimes, but hubby finds it a bit light for lunch. I think he’d like the egg addition for some extra protein. And I love the idea of egg in a salmon quinoa salad too!

I’ll have to check out those links too.

Hi everyone. My packed lunch is string cheese! However, hubby just got a bunch of bagels, sliced them and put them in the freezer, so they can be ready in a pinch.
That hummus looks really good! I enjoy my crockpot too, there is nothing like making the house smell yummy on a cold day!
I’m exhausted. Hopefully things will settle down a bit next week. Nice to come home to appreciative kitties and understanding hubby.

Sadly, sister lost another foster. Ivy fought, but she was just not strong enough. 2 boys are left. Ian and Ivan – turns out Ivanka is a boy.

HI all, signed in much earlier but then got sidetracked. Haven’t been able to read all the posts yet.
It’s lunch time here and I have hard boiled some eggs to go with lettuce cucumber and tomatoes for a salad.

Hi MS and everyone yet to enter!
KZ, glad that you’re finally going for ortho consult. I def hear you about med appts. All that I can say and trust me, (I’m good at giving advice to others, applying it to myself, unfortunately not), is don’t procrastinate, see what specialist says, then I guess you can always also discuss recommendations with your OB/GYN as you seem to have great relationship.
The hair thing, I’m lucky in that my stylist “gets” my hair, which is naturally curly and super fine. Sometimes you have to try a different stylist or discuss what will work with your specific hair type. Last 2 appts he’s cut the sides and back super short while hair is wet, then dried top straight, then cut it so it falls in with rest of hair. hair acts very differently when wet, I got this after asking him “What about the top, you cutting it or not?” LOL. Now years back I did decide to “neaten” my cut by myself right after stylist did her work. Really botched it up big time. Had to go back with “tail between legs” next day. She was very decent in saying that all i had to do was come back and tell her what I felt prob was and she would have fixed it.
AV, don’t apologize for venting/ranting, isn’t that what friends are for? As long as you’re not ranting about me LOL.
In sandwiches I often use hummous along with mayo. Ads texture and spices ie tuna up a bit, plus chickpeas in hummous = added protein a good thing.
Joan so sorry about Ivy. 😥 In her short life she knew your Sis’ love and caring and joins the many furries gamboling in the Meadow. So 2 boy kits. Is one of them purrhaps slated as playmate for Comet? Hmmm…

Evening all! ….. well, I’ve calmed down a lot since my frustrating afternoon, and yes, it’s nice to have a friendly place like this to come to …. always makes me smile and feel better! ….

…. I love red-pepper hummus on a sandwich with sliced avacado and thousand island dressing ….. there are so many good combos that can be done with it! …. and did you know how easy it is to make hummus? basically it’s a can of drained chick peas, some fresh lemon juice, salt/pepper and olive oil (about 1/4 cup) ….. whiz all in a food processor and wha-la! ….. of course, you can add other ingredients – roasted peppers, chopped olives, any number of spices, etc…..

…. so sorry Joan, for your sis’s loss of another foster 🙁 … so hard to loose the wee ones!
