Love the pic of buttons and Nutini….beautiful lighting.

Guess what squirrels are doing at our house, PG. Picking the lemons from our lemon tree! They are little walnut sized green balls right now. They aren’t ready for picking until winter…if we have any left by that point…the cute little bandits.

Hubby had a meeting tonight so the boys and I grabbed Thai food on our way home from cleaning my tough house…yum.

Soup for dinner here – it’s been rainy and cold. Finally had enough and bumped the heat up. Tomorrow is supposed to dry out and temps moderate.
Big conCATs to PG on Miss Moppet being today’s Daily Kitten.

Terrible pun, JK but the picture underneath is delish.

I learned I could make Rocky Road ice cwrem at home…or I can go to the grocery store. Hmmm-savings vs. convenience? I did, however, send the recipe to my nephew. I enjoy cooking and baking but he puts me to shame.

I love your new avatar Buttons. You go, grrl. Bummer about the dog. I hope you or someone finds it.

It is very hot in the house. The maintenance guy will be here on Thursday to hook up the swamp (evaporative) cooler. The kitties don’t want to eat either but they’re not starving. πŸ™‚

Thanks Joan my fluffy girl is a grown up Daily Kitten! I never thought of her being Maine Coon because she is so slender.

Hi everyone, I am beginning to feel a little humaness break through the crud I have although my concentration is still next to nothing.
Had to look up rocky road as I didn’t really know what it was and not sure we have had a rocky road ice cream here but we do have our own quintessentially Kiwi ice cream called Hokey Pokey, delicious vanilla ice cream with chunks of hokey pokey all through it.
I used to make ice cream years – ok decades ago using evaporated milk. Can’t remember the recipe but it was so delicious. Just add your favourite flavour.
We have an unsettled weather day here, weak sunshine at the moment but heavy rain and possible thunderstorms later. I’m still not feeling the weather very well as I’m living in my own climate at the moment as you do sometimes when sick but the thermometre says 17C. I will wrap up well when I go to see the Dr, I can’t afford to get a chill in my chest as it rattles like an old paint can half full of stones now as it is.
Nurse HRH stayed close to me all night and is out hunting now. I hope she doesn’t bring me a mouse though.

    Hi KJ,

In answer to your question yesterday-I worked as a Yeoman (not the English guard version) which means a secretary. I did all the administrative work for the department. The cool part was I worked in different departments like Submarine Training and Aircraft Training. I learned and traveled a lot. After 10 years, I transitioned to a Career Counselor. I assisted Navy personnel to get different or advanced training schools, duty assignments and helped personnel transition out. When I advanced to Command Career Counselor, I had 30 people reporting to me. When I got out, I finished by BA in Classical Studies/PoliSci. I applied 4 times for Foreign Services but couldn’t pass the exam. So now I worship my furballs, volunteer and chat here.

We all have skills, KJ. Yours are languages and finding cool stuff and making it great again. I enjoy cooking and baking. My aunt is a wonderful chef and taught me all I know. Of course, mom doesn’t cook so many days it was fend for yourself. A couple friends would get lost in a kitchen without a road map.

We are all special unless Grumpy cat says otherwise. πŸ˜‰

Oh MS, I’m sorry you’re feeling lousy again. I’m glad you have a purrsonal nurse to keep you comfy.

Gosh MS, I surely hope you get well and soon. It’s just no fun being that sick. It sounds like you have a Dr. appointment, which is good. Sometimes you just need a little extra help getting over it! I’ll try and get warmer winds blowing your way for the next few days to warm your bones!

Hey KJ, I think I saw you just come through the door! πŸ™‚ Hope you made headway on your work this afternoon, but for me if it was cold and rainy, a nap would sound much better!

    Tks PG,
So interesting what we all do when we are not in TDK mode! The job you had sounds fantastic. Everyone else’s job always sounds fantastic LOL. Yeoman (hehehe.) Didn’t know that this title actually existed, although there was a character on orig Star Trek as Yeoman Janice Rand, she had major crush on Dr. McCoy. Now why do I remember that? Plus I was in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Yeoman of the Guard” 2x. All through uni and after was involved in light opera, chorus and dancer, although one time I got one line that worried me silly. Actually met first serious boyfriend and ex-Mr. KJ in the company. Now I see the Yeomen on “Masterpiece Theater – Wolf Hall” which BTW is one of the best mini-series ever, IMHO, but these guys are really working, not just marching around and singing.
So made some headway in work, but most of day was spent rearranging underbed drawers, down to 7 from 11, and trying to get perfume scent out of curb-shopped yarn bin. At this point it’s been over-cleaned and is sitting outside apt with a cup of vinegar/lemon juice inside the thing. It’s not horrible and the yarn that will be stored is sealed in plastic and will eventually become sweaters and will be washed, but still. I use vinegar for all sorts of household things. Other advice is to soak a piece of white bread in vinegar but silly me, I only have the multi-grain variety, I don’t do sliced white bread. Speaking of eats both Dorry and I need some. L8R
BTW is the “Hokey Pokey” what it’s all about? *Earworm time* πŸ˜‰

Thanks PG for the cute LOLcat pic. Ohhhhh glad you found a recipe for Hokey Pokey ice cream.
Dr says I will live and just need to take it easy for a few days until my lungs clear. So heading to lie down and keep warm seeing as the day is now overcast and dropping temperature and rain on the way.
