I’m here KJ 😉 well only for a few mins.. It’s still early here so I decided to get an hours snoozing time before i have to start a busy day .

I just wasn’t to thank everyone for their kind words yesterday. I know ScarFace is pain free now and happy . I would be lost without TDK 🙂

That last pic brings back memories from when I lived on a sheep station and the phone line was a ‘party line’ or 5 houses on the same line. Crank the handle in the morse code pattern for the house you wanted or a long crank to get the operator. We had the worst ring ‘S’ or three short rings which was so very easy to miss if the rings were too quick. Also you ran the risk of someone else listening in to your calls and the farm managers wife had a bad habit of doing that or if you wanted to use the phone it was a case of picking up the handset and saying ‘working’ and waiting to see of someone else was already on the line and hoping they remembered to ring off when finished.
The weather today had been wild with gales and heavy rain then sunshine and thick fog this evening. It must be Spring.

Catch you all on the flip side.

Good morning – thank yiu for your servce, Emma!
Can’t see KJ’s pics on my kindle – will look when I fire up my ‘puter. Woke way too early and can’t get back to sleep – will crash later for sure!
We had party lines here and as a teen when I got my own line I had one with my Auntie Alva across the way. “One ringy-dingy…”
I think today is also the anniversary of a dark day in history when the nazis invaded Poland.

It is anniversary of that dark day, Joan, no pics or words to go with that one, just a dreadful silence now knowing of what was to come. And remembrance for so many murdered.
OK, when I was a kid we used to go to country for summer. Party line, how is it that I recall that our designated ring tone was long-short-short? Miscreant/mischievous KJ and friend would listen in on other’s calls. Fun for a time until the adults on line heard 2 girls giggling and easily identified the culprits! 🙄
Kit “Playing with mouse”. Dare I say, euphemism, MS ❓ 😉

I missed out on the whole party line thing. :(. Love the photo where the kit needs the human to press one for her. Cute. Off to make brekkie for the human kiddos here.

Morning all! I remember party lines …. My grandma had one with nosey neighbor Thelma …. I can still hear her saying ‘ don’t say anything you don’t want Thelma to hear’ …. Lol

Yes, a dark day indeed …… Hard to believe people can be so evil!

Son and Mr. AV are going to Israel in Nov. ….. I’m excited for them! A great chance to visit that most holy place!

Rain hasn’t been as bad as I expected …. We’ll see how today goes … Busy input for me … Have a happy one today, all!

Great for Mr. AV and Son! Israel in the Fall is awesome. Actually Israel is awesome at any time of year, IMHO. Been there twice, first time with group tour so I’d be sure to see all the most important places. Got caught in sandstorm, slept in Negev desert, climbed Masada at 3 am (extent of camping for KJ but was well worth it to see sunrise on mountain!) Also toured an army base and learned how to fire an M-16! Second time went with BFF and planned itinerary day-by-day, we still regale each other with stories of that trip. The country of my soul, the places “speak” to everyone.
Torrid out here today, for a bit I shut off A/C and could sense the heat/humidity that await when I set sandal-shot foot outdoors to go and srsly sweat in own spin class at gym. L8R!

Good morning all! Hot and humid here, not going to shut of a/c, no way! Yes, a dark day in history for sure. 🙁
I remember party lines well, wasn’t a fan of them then, and surely remember thinking how barbaric they were. AND long distance phone bills as I lived in the country and my mom lived in town a few minutes away, couldn’t call each other without incurring ridiculous phone bills each month. It was easier and cheaper to drive to see her or her me!
Joan, I didn’t sleep at all night before last, I don’t know what my problem was, except maybe I’m *mooney*! I was exhausted getting up and getting ready for Avery to come, then later in the afternoon I was afraid to sit down for fear I would fall asleep and leave the baby unattended. She is hot to go up the steps by herself and can scale them in seconds if you don’t keep an eye on her. I have got to remember to get a gate this week to stop her, as she’s still to young to teach to go down. She doesn’t realize what can happen if she makes a wrong move!
But last night I went to bed early as I couldn’t stay awake, and slept like the dead. Luckily I woke up! 😛

*A moment of silence – never forget that day*
Buttons, I am guessing Scarface has been pretty busy since arriving at the Meadow, answering curious kitties’ questions and telling stories of his tough life and the big tuna dinner he had just before leaving that life.
Wow, AV, Israel, niiice! Your experiences there sound amazing, KJ! Should KJ ever be armed with an M-16? Hmmm…
That might be it, KZ – every once in a while I wake and just stay awake. I was going to get up and sit outside, but I figured those pesky pre-dawn skeeters would be out. Sounds like Avery is gearing up for lightening speed!

*waves* at everyone in the Café ….. taking a small break before the afternoon round of inputting … KJ, they are very excited about the trip, they are going to Egypt too …. if I know Son, he’ll squeeze as much into the trip as possible!

KZ, sorry you couldn’t sleep, that happens to me sometimes …. mostly I’ll turn the light on and read …. that will usually make me sleepy again …. Joan you were probably smart not to go outside, the skeeters are terrible this year!

Dau started her first day of substitute teaching today …. she’s doing that while getting her masters …. this was for a high school class, so it should be interesting ….. she’s only 24 and looks like Taylor Swift … so you can imagine those high school boys reactions when they see her! should be interesting! …. her preference is middle school, but you can’t be picky as a substitute …..

Egypt too? Cool, AV! Dau will be great, no matter what grade they place her in. Yes, the boys will probably talk about ‘the hot new sub’!
Started and ended lunch at mom’s with dessert! Sister had a coupon and brought little ice cream sundaes, and I made a vanilla pudding pie with oreo crust. Life’s too short, eat dessert when you want!

Good morning all, after a full on foggy evening and rain overnight the day dawned sunny with a gentle breeze – however there is rain and thunder storms forecast. Welcome to Spring weather.
KJ, you were a naughty young miss listening in on the party line. You never know what you may here. One of the other shepherds wives and I thought up a conversation to have whenever we could hear surreptitious breathing on the line or the sound quality changed. I will never forget the day it all worked, we did our ‘chat’ thinly disguised about the managers wife and heard a gasp and then a handset being slammed down. 😮 😀 😆
Isn’t it strange how we remember our rings from way back then.
Bows head in remembrance of today and what followed.
AV, Israel and Egypt for son and Mr AV. How wonderful and I am sure son will make sure the trip is packed with sightseeing.
KJ, I bet Masada at sunrise was awesome.
Sleep, what is that? I have been having trouble getting a good sleep lately, the reason is black and dappled and hogs the bed. Sigh.
Nice way to begin and end lunch Joan.
HRH has been sitting in front of me just staring at me, I pick her up and cuddle her and put her down and she goes right back to staring. I think I had better go and spend some time with her.

AV, dau had better have her whack-bonk stick close to hand, what with those teen-age boys – but undoubtedly she can fend for herself quite well LOL.
Eat dessert even when you don’t want Joan! Yup, KJ with an M-16, even brought the spent shells home as souvenir, Israeli customs agent let me, not so sure if this would go over so well now. Weapon has a major kick as shoulder srsly ached after, and couldn’t lift the thing, we shot at targets from flat on ground, so not sure how dangerous I would be.
Before I forget, BFF just shared this awesome feel-good kitty rescue vid:

Late to the Café, at gym I had option of doing the possible or the sensible. Being me, I chose the former, 90 min of intense spinning. Because I could, and passed the limit where one feels energized to where one starts to feel down again. Ideally should call it an early night.
Came home and got into re-organizing things using those bags where one vacuums out airspace and stuff takes up like minimal space. Amazing watching the stuff, ie big cushions/bedding shrink. OK, I need to get a life LOL.
Then had to dash our again. Wished I’d had my COA airbag in my handbag. A doggie tale, but stopped to chat with a girl who had this day adopted a MIRA doggie. Don’t know if this org exists outside Canada, but these are labs trained to be service dogs for visually impaired. Well, this black pup was 2 mos old, with that cloud soft baby fur (kits have this too when real young.) He was wearing the MIRA red and white bandana and was so at ease, even when a rottweiler nosed the pup, even when a little girl got down to pet him and pull his pointy tail. Awww!
Did sorta happy dance after downing last antibiotic (hopefully.) Seeing doc tomorrow. It’s srsly hot/humid out and office is in area of hptl that hasn’t seen paint or modernization singe the 50’s, no real A/C either, just those annoying standing fans. Appt is at 3:20 pm which means nothing. If someone hears Dorry meowing for his dinner, like 7-ish, please come thru wormhole to feed him, although i will leave out some kibble.
Now if anyone can guess the song/group ref from title of today’s theme, prize is a visit from Dorry! How good is that! If not I’ll disclose answer L8R. Big hint – group has trad girly colour as first of 2 word name.

    Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb
Hi KJ, Hmmmmmmmmm let me see, M-16 too heavy for you? Dangerous? Hell yeah! I am glad you fired it from a prone position. Did you hit anything – like a target? You were lucky to be able to bring the casings home, lucky to have got them through the border in your own country.
Good grief, 90 minutes of spin. You must have hit the wall and hone on to hit the next wall too. No wonder you felt a little down. Thank goodness there was a cute little MIRA puppy to lift your spirits out of your fashionable shoes and up. It does sound adorable and well trained even at such a young age.
Good luck tomorrow with the Dr’s visit and Positive Vibes that all is well with the wound and no more antibiotics so you can get back to your dairy products. I hope the day is less humid and if I hear meowing I will definitely check at the worm hole to see if Dorry requires feeding or company.

Yay for finishing those antibiotics, KJ. Bring on the lattes! Emily finishes her antibiotics tomorrow night. Eko has a few more days.

Um, I’d get a huge kick out of watching the vacuumed stuff shrink. :).

Hope everyone gets a good night of sleep tonight.

Indeed MS, I def hit the target, several times. My army guide was most impressed, although he noted that (“like most girls”) I squeezed my eyes shut. Very dishy guy, red-head, Ex-Brit, sighs. Interestingly, there was a young woman officer training this whole group of men, giving orders and all. What a kick! She was an ex-Aussie.
And lucky you, as correctly guessing song, you – and more importantly HRH – get a visit from Dorry. Bet he’ll be surprised to find that it’s Spring as in “Didn’t we just do Spring?”
Tks MS, was allowed dairy, but not at times when I wanted it and had to override my non-compliant nature LOL.

    I find this particularly moving-

Images such as this engraving from a memorial for Jewish fighters from the Warsaw Ghetto stand as grim reminders of the context in which the “Zionism of Fear” –- a yearning for a safe haven for Jews — first arose. Credit: Creative Commons/archer10

Heart-rending share PG, but IMO it’s important that the horrors of WWII, for all who suffered, as the Nazis targeted not only Jews, never be forgotten, as the generation who went through it is gradually dying out. No one in my family was directly involved in the war, father was not stationed overseas, but I have had friends whose parents were Holocaust survivors. And thank G-d for that safe haven.
