Patience, patience and more patience. Consistency too. Saying their name and making eye contact or touching them helps. A consistent tone of voice might help too. It’s advised that you name the kitty with 2 or at the most, 3 syllables.

Like Joan says, patience, patience and even more patience, saying their name when you give them treats, when you call them to come eat, when playing with them, etc.

And sometimes they already know their name, you just don’t know it…..I have a walk-in kitty who came into my house and decided it was his home, tried to give him different names but he only answers to or even pays attention to “Kitty” 🙂

Patience and repetition….like..everyone else said. 🙂

Proper conditioning too. Say their names while you pet them, feed them, hold them etc. They’ll associate the name with good things and come running to you eventually!
