Just avoid green wallpaper – you should be safe! I think it was arsenic that was in the colouring, and then anybody who was in the room and breathed now and again would inhale the stuff.

Of course – it’s not impossible that the decorator had been given special instructions . . .

American actress Grace Kelly marries Prince Rainier of Monaco in a spectacular ceremony on this day in 1956. Princess Grace née Kelly debuted on Broadway in 1949. She won her an Oscar in 1954 for her performance in The Country Girl. While filming To Catch a Thief (1955) in the French Riviera, Kelly met Prince Rainier of Monaco. It wasn’t love at first sight for Kelly, but the prince initiated a long correspondence, which led to their marriage in 1956. Afterward, she became Princess Grace of Monaco and retired from acting. She had three children and occasionally narrated documentaries.

Today will be a happy laid back toking good time in Denver!

In Denver with over a year of legal recreational marijuana sales under its belt, 4/20 — the calendar equivalent to 4:20 p.m., the time pot smokers would historically toke up — does speak for itself.

    04-21 TODAY IN HISTORY:
    ROME WAS FOUNDED
According to tradition, on April 21, 753 B.C., Romulus and his twin brother, Remus, found Rome on the site where they were suckled by a she-wolf as orphaned infants. Actually, the Romulus and Remus myth originated sometime in the fourth century B.C., and the exact date of Rome’s founding was set by the Roman scholar Marcus Terentius Varro in the first century B.C.

    Polio Vaccine
On this day in 1954, the Salk polio vaccine field trials, involving 1.8 million children, begin at the Franklin Sherman Elementary School in McLean, Virginia. Children in the United States, Canada and Finland participated in the trials, which used for the first time the now-standard double-blind method, whereby neither the patient nor attending doctor knew if the inoculation was the vaccine or a placebo.
