Please share any of your TNR success stories here!

    (I’ll start us off.)

I’m so relieved! Mama Kitty showed up this morning, right when I was leaving for work. She has largely eliminated the belly she’d been developing, but she appeared healthy. She had a good appetite, and she obviously remembered me. (She meowed at me and rubbed up against my legs.) Since she’s been spayed and has her shots, she’s been given a fighting chance for a longer life outdoors.

I’m glad she’s okay. I worry when releasing a feral back outdoors after more than a week or two indoors. Sometimes the territorial boundaries shift, and different cats move in to occupy the space. That can create serious territorial conflicts when cats are returned back outdoors. I’m glad to see that she doesn’t appear to have any fighting injuries.

Anncetera, So glad that mama kitty is doing fine and came back to visit and be with you for a little bit. Glad she is doing well as I am sure you are too! Thanks for all you do for the outdoor kittys! Hugs and Purrs.

I think Mama Kitty came back to say “Thank you!” and to let you know that she is OK. That has to be as good as it gets in doing TNR! Not every story has such a happy ending, but thinking about this one will help you keep on. Congratulations and hugs to you.

What a great story! She knows and remembers you as a person who cares about her, which is a rare thing for ferals. I hope it made you feel as wonderful as you are!

Anncetera, I am so glad to hear that Mama Kitty is still around. I know how worried you have been when she didn’t show up for feeding time. I just wish it was possible to have a safe haven for the homeless pets in every city and town. It is so hard to return these TNRed kitties back to a homeless life. Wish we could do more for all of them.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Elene, you’re completely right; I wish there were more I could do for the ferals, but all I can do is manage my 2 acres as best I can. My goal is to provide a relatively safe place for ferals to seek shelter, food, and water, and to make sure as many ferals as possible are TNR (to slow the reproduction cycle).

Pretty Girl will not be released, however; she needs to find a forever home. She is far too friendly! I think friendly cats are at some risk of mistreatment in my neighborhood, due to illegal dogfighting and children with insufficient empathy roaming around.

It is wonderful that Mama Kitty is alright, Anncetera. Hopefully you can help Pretty Girl find a new forever home.

It’s great Mama Kitty is healthy and around, it’s great Pretty Girl will have a home but I feel a little sad for Mama Kitty not finding a permanent home. I know the realities, but I am and shall always be a hopeless idealist.

You, anncetera, and all the other TNR-people do wonderful work, kudos to you all. Thanks for trying so hard.
