    Easter Eggs
Easter or Pascha is the oldest and most important Christian feast, celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion, as described in the New Testament. Easter is preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of fasting and penance.

Tks for Passover recipes share JK – too bad they probably involve cooking! πŸ˜‰ I am pretty good at opening packages and boxes. Have done as much as I can point in time and friend/Hazel is coming tomorrow to bring Passover boxes up from storage in locker or as I like to call it my 3rd walk-in closet LOL. And coming just after the 8 days to bring the stuff back down. I have separate micro/2-burner stovetop and toaster oven reserved for the holiday, plus 2 year-round empty cupboards for groceries. There is much involved in getting ready but each year I find myself getting a bit more organized, which is my trait by nature. BTW they do have kosher for Passover maple syrup, but it’s like $16 a bottle!!! Will make do with honey. πŸ˜‰
The Easter eggs are so pretty. At risk of sounding stupid do peeps crack and eat them after they admire them, or is yolk removed before they are decorated?

Hmm, how about take out – take away Passover/LOL!

Um, sometimes peeps dye – color hard boiled eggs.
Otherwise prick end of egg & blow out liquid as uncooked egg for Easter baking recipes.
    Than decorate empty shell!
I’ve read some creative people fill blow out shell w/liquid chocolate to harden as
    chocolate egg to decorate…No Way jose` πŸ˜‰

My advice – go to store – purchase luvly foil wrapped filled chocolate eggs…send to me! πŸ˜€

For sure there is Passover take-out, ergo the matzoh rolls and muffins and honey cake stowed away in freezer. Plus the simple things that I can make will suffice.

Hee hee…he even has jelly bean toes/LOL – thanks KJ!

I always purchase an Easter Stolen or poppy seed coffee cake as breakfast treat.
Saw one last week at local Outpost – figured it would NOT last in my house ’til Easter
weekend! So, will wait until last day as Sat to purchase yearly treat!

Tks for gorgeous illustration of Ostara and info on origins of bunny/hare connection to magick JK! I remember having rabbit’s foot when I was but a kid, now the idea sorta creeps me out, unless it’s a fake – which ultimately makes it luckier for the rabbit!

I’m putting this interesting article about Mediterranean foods for Passover in this year-old thread because Western Easter was so long before Passover this year that the natural link between the two holidays seemed missing:
    http://news.nationalpost.com/life/food-drink/go-beyond-brisket-with-passover-recipes-that-celebrate-the-diversity-of-the-jewish-table
That is not the case for Eastern Orthodox, as they follow the old (and obvious) rule that Easter follows the beginning of Passover.

I didn’t see any South American recipes in the first post by KJ. It is always interesting to see how people do spring recipes in the autumn, or winter ones in the hot Austral summer. One Brazilian friend whose family had the foresight to get out of Vienna said they combined Austrian/Central European and Brazilian dishes.

Here is an article by Joan Nathan on Passover in Argentina: http://www.nytimes.com/1999/03/31/dining/an-argentine-passover-then-and-now.html

Orthodox Easter falls on the 1st of May this year, which is of course Labour Day in Greece!
