Well MS glad to see that the kits are not lazing about as we in Northern Hem attempt sleep. And since you ask, while you are off in dreamland I did the research and here’s what I found out about soaping windows:
Q: “I’ve read a few places and have seen on TV where kids rub a bar of soap on peoples windows as a prank for Halloween. Does the soap do something, or is it just hard to wash off? I guess I’m missing the point?
A: Its just a prank, goes way back to Victorian times. It makes the windows cloudy and hard to see through. Its really old school tagging, but less permanent than spray paint.
I’ve heard that pranks are also perpetrated on homes where treats are not doled out on H’ween. I feel certain that no TDKer’s would ever have been involved in such illicit activities, but if anyone has more info, do tell! 😉
BTW I don’t do H’Ween either, but my n’hood is decked out to the max and interesting to see how creative some peeps can get, evidenced by the following pic as originally posted in our Boo-tique! Think Hitchcock’s “The Birds”, entire bannister festooned with perching ravens (out of camera range). Yup!
