I’m going to see Mom this weekend and take your Potpourri mix. She has a wonderful wood stove to set in on and it will help her winter congestion. Thanks Kittahs and mirrors are so funny.

Well we brought her home and Mr B has picked a name for her…..

He said she looked like a James Bond Dr Evil kitty but she was so pretty that Miss Moneypenny really suits her. I get to pic the name of the next furry baby though that’s the deal..

Internet is so slow today so I will try and post a new pic later.. She came straight out of her cage and hasn’t left Mr B’s side! If he moves to a different part of the bed she follows him.. She is smitten! It’s so cute to watch. He isn’t even playing his new xbox game cause he says it will disturb her Mr B is in love I think 🙂 she jumped off the bed and used the litter tray but jumped straight back up to Mr B…. She’s had her meds and are two kitten food pouches already! She’s also had a bath and a blow dry and a trim too cause some of her fur around her tail was pretty badly matted..

So tomorrow we see how she is with the other cats 🙂 that should be fun,.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue
Hi, my name is Sadie and something pretty awful has happened to me. Well lots of things actually. First, I was declawed and that hurt a whole lot. But my mom comforted me and made me feel better. I had a great mom. She loved me so much. But a few weeks ago, she didn’t wake up. We were in bed like always when the alarm went off. Instead of turning off the alarm & getting up to fix my breakfast, Mom didn’t move. I pawed at her to try and tell her to get up. I meowed really loudly but she didn’t respond. That’s when I realized something must be wrong so I curled up on her chest and watched over her.

A LONG time later, maybe a couple of days… my human siblings found us like that. They don’t live with us anymore. They are grown but I guess they came to check on our mom. Next thing I know there was an ambulance and a bunch of people. I tried to stay with her but they kept pushing me off. And then they took her away. That’s the last time I saw my mom. I cried a lot for the next few days. I was all alone & I missed my mom. I didn’t understand what was happening.

I did see my human siblings again though. They came back a few days later & started taking Mom’s stuff. I tried to stop them. I knew she would want all her pretty things but they said Mom wasn’t coming back. They said she died and this was their stuff now. They divided up everything. My brother picked something then my sister then my brother again & so on. They just kept taking stuff. I wondered who was going to pick me. Surely one of them would want me, right? I mean, my mom loved me and I know she would want them to take care of me if she couldn’t. That’s what families do, right?

Not my family. Once they took all the nice stuff, my sister said, “You take the cat.” My brother said, “No way! I don’t like cats.” My sister said she didn’t like cats either. How can you not like cats? What is there not to like? My brother told my sister to take me to Animal Control. They argued but I guess my sister lost because she put me in my carrier and next thing I know, she’s handing me to a stranger.

The stranger put me in a cage. There were rows and rows of cages of cats and dogs. I don’t know what happened to their moms but I know my mom would be mad that this happened to me. I’m pretty mad too.

Well, the Angels heard my story and they said THEY want me. They want to find me a new mom. I’d rather have my old mom but since that isn’t an option, I’d sure like a new one.

I need donations to cover my vetting expenses. I’m already spayed but my vaccinations aren’t up to date and I need a microchip too. Could you help with that? Hi everyone! I have some thread reading CATching up to do but as always, wanted to say hello first. In a quick rundown, did i see something for stovetop potpourri? Was just thinking that instead of those super expensive fragrance thingies that after the first week you can’t smell unless you are right next to it, I would like to be able to put something in my teapot that when warmed, smells nice.
Anywho, need to unwind for a bit, so I’ll take a swipe from the fountain, pull up a spot by the TDK pool/hot tub, relax and do some TDK reading.

Hi all, popping in briefly to skim through the posts. It’s Friday here and I am busy. Have just had to de-bone a leg of ham I won so that it will fit in Mum’s freezer. She was lamenting the price of a small ham yesterday and now she has one for the princely sum of $2(I won’t charge her though.
Had a funny moment with HRH last night, she was sitting on the sofa next to me when she sat up and nosed the blanket that sits on the back of the sofa. I got the hint and draped the blanket down from the back and over the front to make a ‘tent’ for her. She was happy and snuggled up for the night and was still asleep at 9am this morning. Looks like she has successfully trained this staff member.
KZ, I glad the earworm was a good one, we have had some really bad earworms in the past on TDK, ones that make you scream. All fun though.
Buttons, loving the name Miss Moneypenny for the new cat. Awwwwwwwwwwww, she’s a daddy’s girl, how lovely and he’s not playing the Xbox either !
Wow, those pics of the snow effecter areas are amazing, I do feel for everyone affected.
Time I made some lunch. Oh, HRH has still been very picky with her food but the change to steak & kidney this morning was a good one as she cleaned the whole lot up. Yay.

Love to watch the ‘africam’ link with all the animals living in the reserve(s) and being able to see them in their habitat rather than cages.

They are due to turn off the live camera watching Meg and her Cheetah cubs, the cubs are being moved to a larger area and it’s not able to be filmed as it is now.

Cheetah Mother Hopes Her Babies Can Keep King Cheetah Gene Alive

Cheetah mother Meg, and king cheetah father Tristan are about to have a litter of cubs in an attempt to keep the rare king cheetah gene alive for future generations.

At the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC) which focuses on the conservation of rare, vulnerable or endangered animals, cheetah conservation is one of their core disciplines. Cheetahs are a threatened species and the rarest of them all is the “King Cheetah”. This special line of cheetahs was first discovered in 1926, where it was thought to be a completely new and exciting species – a strange hybrid between a cheetah and a leopard. Although we now know that it is not a new species, but in fact a distinctive fur pattern variation of a normal spotted cheetah. King cheetahs have been reported in the wild, including a sighting in the Kruger National Park in 1974, but are incredibly rare, which raises the importance of a project such as this.

Meg and Tristan mated several months ago and a litter of cubs is expected to occur sometime this month (July, 2014). Meg does not carry the king cheetah gene, so none of these cubs will in fact be king cheetahs. However, they will all carry the gene, and in the future if paired with another gene carrying partner, a king cheetah birth would be possible.

At HESC, a special maternity ward has been constructed so that the females can give birth in a proper environment. That is part of what you are seeing on the LIVE camera above. Once the babies have been born the staff will allow nature to take its course and not approach the infant cats so that they can be cared for by their mother in the most natural way possible.

That being said, monitoring is of course an important part of conservation, so the centre has set up this 24/7 webcam with live video and sound in partnership with our team here at Africam.com. Through this device they cannot only monitor the cheetahs but also gather valuable information for future conservation efforts.

HESC believes that promoting education and awareness surrounding the cheetahs is paramount, which is why we are broadcasting LIVE from the maternity ward on this channel. You will be able to witness the birth itself, as well as the first few weeks of Meg raising her new babies. In addition, if you wish to help in the conservation effort, there is a donation portal link below the video player, where you can contribute directly to the care of the cubs.

…. talked to both children today, they are wrapping up things for their week, and look forward to spending Thanksgiving together next week …. Dau is cooking and they are hosting others that can’t go home for the holiday …. we will skye with them from here ….

…. tomorrow will be a busy day for me, if I can get two reports out (that’s pushing it) I will have a more mellow weekend, so I’ll be up/working early ….
