November is Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month. So today’s Café is fêting all the kits who have more than earned their stripes, patches, solids, whatever. Just by being kits! The fire is burning low, soft music is playing. The café is wall-to-wall packed with super-cushy kitty beds, pillows and quilts, plus baskets of freshly washed laundry to curl up in. Tuxie has instructed Chef Kitty to have special easy-to-digest senior kitty food on hand, as well as loads of their favourite treats. Of course our expected coffee is brewing and breakfast is on the cooker. But a special area is reserved for some honoured non-TDKr’s: it’s filled with comfy rocking chairs and loungers for elderly purrsons who might have be in care facilities with a no-kitty policy. Well here, on each ones’ lap is a kitty to cuddle with and talk to, for as long as the purrson cares to stay. Back near the fireplace some senior kits are telling their stories to the crew kitties. Some “tails” have sad aspects, some are amewsing, but all have happy endings, as now all the kits are visiting from their loving furrever homes. Careful as you enter, so as not to accidentally tread on a dozing kitty!

    Pounce!
Apropos of nothing, I’m just not usually the first one in the Café! Good morning to all.
I saw a documentary once, don’t remember the main subject, maybe aging? Anyway, they showed an old guy in a wheel chair in a nursing home that had basically withdrawn from the world, didn’t respond to the staff, etc. just drooped in his chair. They put a cat on his lap. Nothing happened for a moment, then very, very slowly, a trembling hand raised up and very gently petted the cat’s back. Totally had me in tears – I’m tearing up as I write this. The amazing power of these small furry creatures to touch our hearts and bring us love…

Morning PB, You can Pounce whenever you want to IMHO. I know the Café is somewhat less fluffy today, I was crying as I wrote it, and after. Furry friends have a wondrous power. Once was writing article on pet therapy, went to childrens hptl to see program. A lovely apricot poodle was brought in to the play room and to see a little girl lose her anxious look as she petted and played with the doggie was amazing. I hope that all of us get to enjoy long, fulfilling lives with our furry friends as our steadfast, loving companions. Great day, all!

Morning, ladies! Just wanted to run in and say a quick hello to everyone. Been crazy busy the last few weeks, and no end in sight with the holidays coming up. Started walking dogs for a lady with 7, so that takes up a big bite of my day, as long as visits 3-4 days a week with 2 dogs who live almost 45 min away on the scooter. By the time I get home at 6:30-7:00 at night, combined with the time change, I’m ready to go to bed, LOL!
Hope everyone’s doing well. Will try to pop in more often.

Of course Buttons! Two young whipper-snapper kitties (’cause it’s a nice big pillow) are on their way through the wormhole. And if you like Night Shift’s Sven the masseur can stop by later and work out those kinks. Must be a gorgeous doggie, and very, very big I gather. My BFF’s hubby had one when he was younger, I’ve seen pics.

    From Lainey:
Prayers and white light for my co-worker Dave. His grandson Gavin passed away yesterday afternoon. He was just over 2 years old. He had a birth defect (that I cannot pronounce yet alone spell) that is what is called a “smooth brain.” His brain never developed the ridges and valleys that are normal. He was blind and probably deaf and had many seizures daily. Even though everyone knew this day would come it is still very difficult for Gavin’s parents and for Dave and his wife having to watch their son and his little family suffer through this. I know TDK love and strength is so very strong and they really could use it.

Lainey, how awful. TDK white light and comforting vibes to Dave.

Hi everyone! Love the pics of the senior cats! Shaddo and Jiggs would be able to keep up with the best of them, and tell tails (um, tales) of their long and storied lives on Earth. That’s Shaddo in my avatar.
Jiggs was a majestic Maine Coon rescue who lived to be 16 years old. He died on a frigid day in January 2008. Shaddo was a handsome grey & white shorthair who came into our lives just after we lost our long hair black cat Smokie, who’s life was way too short.
Shaddo lived to be 17 years old, and died just 5 months after Jiggs on a sweltering hot day in June. Just as in life, they were complete opposites and a wonderful combination in our home.

G’morning to all from sunny & to reach 40’s today…woo hoo!
What a wonderful star-studded café as purry oldies but goodies. Brining senior treats for all visiting! My Dot was a senior ‘tho acted like a junior until her last year when she developed feline diabetes. Wasn’t chubby either…just came on from “old age” challenges per the vet. (She was my nemesis…luved her to bits, blows smooch heavenward!) So sorry to hear about little Gavin, peaceful prayers on the way. OK, now to continue w/today’s fun part 1 day 4. Grabbing a cuppa joe w/smooch for Tux, later kits.

So sorry for Gavin’s passing. May Dave and his family know no further sorrows.

May I ask for continuing prayers/thoughts for my spin instructor Colette’s daughter? Situation is horrifying, with what I can imagine will be an arduous recovery as per msg her Mom sent me this am: Her pelvis was broken in 5 different places when she was hit by a car while flying through the air after some moron opened a car door while she was riding (her bike). She’s lucky to be alive.

And KM – do my eyes deceive me? You have revealed your true identity! Probably lots of TDKr’s knew but not KJ. Will you eventually reveal pics of your other 2 kitties? Scritches to Fred! 🙂

Sending comforting, soothing, healing vibes to Colette’s daughter.
*A sweet ginger kitty slips through the wormhole, completely unnoticed, to provide Colette’s daughter a bit of comfort and calmness she can’t quite explain…*

Yes it does look like Kittenmaster, King of Kittens, is a real person! I wonder if Fred is the only cat with a job.

Pay no attention to that cat behind the curtain…
Comforting white light to Gavin’s family, and healing white light to Colette’s daughter. There have been articles in the paper here about the hazards bikers face in sharing the roads with drivers, who are all-too-often oblivious to the smaller vehicles sharing the road with them (bike-bikes and motorcycle-bikes: there’s also a campaign here called ‘SEE motorcycles’).

    Home made ice melt spray

Helpful recipe for much needed Winter Weather Tonic
Too bad can’t spray both months as Jan/Feb & ward off fangs of winter!

Ok, time to head out to purrfect TDK patio for some lunchtime RR! To the lounge chair Tux…

On behalf of Colette, thank you all so very, very much, she is also owned by a kit. Update is that her daughter will not need surgery, fractures are stable, but there is a road ahead. Joan, this is strange, but in a wonderful way, re the comfort kitty, Colette’s hair is ginger/red, assume daughter’s is as well. 😉
