    This weekend we recognize Memorial Day in the United States that falls on Monday. We commemorate U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. Many people observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time. Members of the VW take donations for poppies in the days leading up to Memorial Day; the poppy’s significance to Memorial Day is the result of the John McCrae poem “In Flanders Fields.”

    Although this is a U.S. federal holiday we recognize all the men and women who gave their lives and/or well being to protect their homelands.

    Never forgotten…

    Good morning – another warm day here, though tomorrow looks to be rainy and cooler here in Jersey.
    Well my sliced finger doesn’t ache as much today. After changing the dressing last night I was a bit queasy but it seems better now that it’s stopped bleeding.
    Mac is happily snoozing on the bed after his little field trip yesterday. Maybe it was his way of celebrating his 2 year anniversary with us!

    Hi KZ!

    Glad your finger is feel better JJ. Cuts on fingers are the worse cause you need to use your hands. Thanks for the Flanders Fields-it’s been ages since I heard that tribute. Yes, Mac was celebrating his anniversary but strutting around.

    Hi guys! Sounds like Mac was celebrating his anniversary by reminding himself how lucky he is to have a home now. Ouch on the cut, Joan!

    Our short trip to the lake was really fun. Younger son had a pre-birthday dinner with fish he caught himself….perfect! Today is his “real” birthday and we’re spending a quiet day at home….just the way he likes it.

    HI PG, JJ, ECB! Sounds like everyone is enjoying a fun and relaxing weekend. It’s been wonderful here, and both daughters want me to grill chicken tomorrow, so that’s what I’ll do while everyone else can bring the side dishes. The weather here has been gorgeous and warm, no rain (although we could surely use some–but hubby says not while his hay is down!) so hoping we can eat outside on the patio tomorrow.
    JJ glad you finger is feeling better and hope it’s not sore…those can cuts can be miserable.

    Sounds like Memorial Day wknd is a big hol in US. We have nothing of it’s like here. There’s Remembrance Day in Nov., but no get-togethers, just the moment of silence, Veteran’s parades. But it’s nice that some of you are getting together together with family over the long weekend. And it’s been a nice one too, very hot and humid.
    JJ, finger cuts are real troublesome. I hope that it heals well and soon. And an injury incurred in feeding the kits, too!
    Happy b-day to son, ECB! The Café kits are ready to par-tay!
