Well, the ghost cat has been spotted again – this time in the back bedroom that used to belong to my grandparents. I went in to work on a computer back there and, just as I was about to turn on the light, I saw the shadow in the window. I went over to look behind the curtain and there was nothing there. I actually felt afraid to be in that room but I have never felt afraid in this room even with all the stories of ghosts back here.

My grandmother always used to see things in this room. It was as if there was some kind of gateway in there. I had forgotten all of the stories when I first moved into this house to live with my grandmother when my brother moved out and she needed somebody here with her. The first time she said she saw a man looking into her closet one night(her closet is by the bedroom door .. there are three sets of sliding doors along something like a short hallway as you walk into the room) I didn’t know what to think. There was a feeling like static electricity all in that area through most of the next day. One day she said she had seen a lady in red in the bedroom. The lady had a gun and was gesturing to her as if trying to tell her something. My grandmother kept talking to her trying to understand what she was trying to tell her. My grandmother told me about the lady in red the next day and I had no trouble believing her — you see, I had dreamed about a lady in red that same night!!

Then I began to remember all the stories about my grandmother. Long story short, if my grandmother told one of the family she had a dream and they needed to listen, they listened! There was always one detail about her dreams that was wrong but her dreams were usually right. My mom, my aunts, and my uncles found that out the hard way many times. Before anybody gets the wrong idea, my grandmother was a firm believer in God and always tried to teach me about God when I was a small child. She bought me bible story books and tried her best to instill a strong sense of faith in me.

One day, my grandmother dreamed that my boyfriend was crying and saying something like, “She was so beautiful!” The next morning after my mom had left the house (she usually brought breakfast for my grandmother after my grandmother had the stroke), my boyfriend’s blind cat wandered into the yard next door and was attacked by their pit bull. I jumped the fence and got the cat away from the dog but the cat was badly injured. We took the cat to the vet and my mom loaned my boyfriend the money to pay the bill. When we got back home, I called my mom to let her know that cat was in surgery and they would call us as soon as she was out of surgery. Then my mom told me about my grandmother’s dream. My boyfriend’s cat died that afternoon and he was crying as we buried the cat. The only thing that was different from my grandmother’s dream was that he never said the words, “She was so beautiful.”

After my grandmother passed away, things seemed to change in this house and there were never any strange sightings here again. My mom seemed to think that supernatural things (ghosts, spirits, etc..) were attracted to my grandmother because she was not afraid of them and she would try to listen to what they had to say.

I had never actually seen a ghost in the back bedroom that I remember — until tonight. I am certain it was the ghost cat. I have to go back in there to finish fixing my other computer. I will let you all know if anything else strange happens. I haven’t told my roommate about the ghost cat yet — he has heard the old stories but he doesn’t know about the latest sightings. I just hope it doesn’t appear in front of him.

Owlwatcher, like your grandmother, I am a firm believer in God. I am a Christian, and what I’m about to say to you comes from my faith in Christ. It may sound really strange to those who don’t share my beliefs, but I’m going to say it anyway because I think it’s very important. First, I consider ouija boards to be very dangerous and I would not allow one into my house or onto my property, and I would leave immediately if anyone brought one into my presence elsewhere. I believe that they, and other occult materials, leave people open to the devil’s influence. Second, if you are seeing spirits in your house that frighten you, I think that they should be told, in the name of Jesus, by someone who knows Him, to leave and not to come back. Third, I’m not surprised that this is happening around Halloween. I don’t observe Halloween because it seems clear to me where a holiday that celebrates death and fear comes from.

I have prayed for you, Owlwatcher, for your roommate, and your home, that your peace may be restored.

I am typing this on the computer in the back bedroom as I speak (I think I got this thing fixed *smiles happily*). This room definitely feels creepy tonight and I am more than a little nervous. Even with the door open and my roommate sitting right outside on the couch watching TV, I find myself looking over my shoulder constantly to see if there is anybody behind me.

My grandmother was thought by many to be psychic but she didn’t believe in psychics as a rule. She thought along the lines of what the bible teaches about psychics so she never really tried to use any kind of psychic power. Things just came to her.

There is one story that my mom told me many times. My mom and – I can’t remember if it was one of my aunts or uncles … I seem to remember it being one of my aunts (I wish my mom were still alive so I could ask her about this) were sitting on the living room floor watching TV. I’m not sure if this happened in the house next door or in the house that burned down here before this house was built. Anyway, they were watching TV while my grandmother was ironing. Suddenly, a light appeared on the wall above the TV. Both my mom and my aunt saw nothing but a light. My grandmother looked up at the light and said, “My daddy is dead”. Both my mom and my aunt asked how she knew this and my grandmother said, “I just saw his shadow on the wall”. A few minutes later, the phone rang. It was somebody calling my grandmother to let her know that her father had just passed away.

One thing I know about my grandmother is that she hated Ouija boards, tarot cards, and anything like that. She didn’t like the thought that my mom let me toy around with the Ouija board when I was a child. My mom never worried about me playing with it but she did keep a very close eye on me when that thing was out. I guess she figured that it was much safer if she didn’t make a big deal out of it because then I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it and probably get bored with it fairly quickly — which I did. My mom did tell me to never, under any circumstances, mess with that thing without her permission. If she wasn’t around for me to ask her, then I was to leave it alone. So I never played with it alone. It wasn’t until I was older that I either heard her talking about how it was cursed or she told me. It was so long ago that I cannot remember.

Oh my…. there is a cat in the window!! I see it through the break in the curtain.

I just opened the curtain to look at it .. it’s eyes are red like the red-eye from a camera. It jumped down from the windowsill, went under the small keyboard stand. When I looked for it, it was nowhere to be found. That’s not Snoopy .. I cannot remember exactly what Snoopy looked like but that wasn’t him and it didn’t make a sound when it jumped down to the floor… I want to run into the other room screaming but I don’t want to scare my roommate. What is going on here?!!!

Be careful! Sometimes distrubances fires and rebuildings or major remodelings wake dormant spirits! Some spirits should not be messed with!

The truth about the ghost cat.

First of all, I want to thank you, Eileen, for your prayers. I was not making anything up when I said that this house feels haunted. It always feels haunted around this time of year and I am very nervous going into the back bedroom at night. Lately, it has felt much worse and I do not like going back there at night unless my roommate is in the living room watching TV. My roommate even made a comment about how the house feels almost spooky at times. It’s usually worse in the month of October. Maybe that’s because my grandfather passed away in the back bedroom on Oct. 18, 1981. It feels better tonight though. Maybe God is working to bring peace into this house.

I had intended this thread to be a series of true, spooky stories about my house entwined within the story of recent appearances of a much spookier version of the ghost cat but I got worried that some people might actually be worried about me and decided it would be best to end the story now. I was wanting this thread to be sort of fun – not truly frightening and I certainly didn’t intend to worry people.

The truth is that nearly everything I have told you is true — just the recent sightings of the ghost cat have been embellished or made up altogether.

I will go over different parts of the story and tell you which parts are true and which parts have been embellished or made up altogether (though not much was made up — with all the creepy stuff that has happened in this house and in my life, I don’t really need to make stuff up to tell spooky stories!).

    1) The story of the ghost cat – true. It happened exactly as I wrote about it.

    2) Yahoo/Snoopy – again totally true. Snoopy was one of the meanest, coolest, and, at times, sweetest – though only to certain people – cats I’ve ever known. My grandfather really did teach this cat to be a vicious little brat and he (and my grandmother, my mom and me) loved that cat dearly even if we couldn’t cuddle him or pet him very often.

3)The neighbors seeing the Siamese cat in the window – true/embellished. What really happened is that I did go outside to talk to them and they did act angry at me and they did ask me about the Siamese cat they saw. But, when the husband said he saw the cat in the window, it was more like this.

Neighbor: “There he is in the window now.”

I turn and look but see nothing.

Neighbor: *shrugs* “I thought I saw a cat anyway”.

Me: “Maybe it was the ghost cat”.

I then tell my neighbors about the ghost cat but I really don’t think they believed me.

4)The Ouija board – all true. In fact, I actually left out a few things from that story. But, the Ouija board did actually spell out, “Kill Roy… I’ll Kill Roy” (I wasn’t there for that part of it but I don’t think that my mom and her friends were lying and Roy was actually frightened to go back into that house!) and, sadly, Roy did die a few years later of a mysterious illness. As far as the conversation with my grandfather goes, I was there when my mom asked those questions to my grandfather – or a spirit that said he was my grandfather. I still do not know what to make of that.

5)I saw something white going into the kitchen – not sure/embellished. I thought I saw some kind of movement in the hallway and something going toward the kitchen but I can’t be sure exactly what it was. May have been a trick of the light

6)I saw the ghost cat today – not sure/embellished. I did see what looked like the shadow of a cat in the living room window. But this looked like a cat that was laying on the windowsill. The ghost cat always appeared to be sitting. I am not sure what created the shadow because both of my cats were outside and, as spooky as this house was feeling earlier today, I wasn’t going to find out.

7)My grandmother, the ghosts, and her dreams and visions – all true. It all actually happened. There are a lot of other stories I could tell you about my grandmother too.

8)The cat in the back bedroom – partially true/partially embellished. Okay, I really did see a shadow that looked like a cat in the window. This was before my cat Shiva came in for the night. I did go look behind the curtains and that was when I noticed that the people behind me had the big yard light on. This may have created the shadow as it shined through the trees. I did not try turning the light off to find out.. honestly, I preferred to think it was their light. After all, that room feels creepy enough at night. As far as the cat in the window goes, that happened after my cat Shiva had come into the house. I did see a cat through the curtains but it was black -not white and it was Shiva – not a ghost. Her eyes really did glow though but it was green, not red.

So there you have it. Nearly all of the stories I have told you in this thread are true and there are many more true stories of haunted houses/strange happenings that I could tell you. Like Angie pointed out, it is very possible that I have inherited some of my grandmothers gifts and sometimes it seems that ghosts and other things are attracted to me too — thankfully not like my grandmother though. I don’t welcome things like that for the most part because I am a chicken and I do get really scared of things like that. If the ghost cat really did make a full appearance to me like he did before, I don’t know if I would react the way I did back then or if I would be scared. It’s different when you have a lot of people around you but, when it’s just two people, it’s a little more unsettling.

Anyway, I hope everybody enjoyed this thread and the stories and I hope nobody is upset at me for embellishing things to make it all spookier.

Great story, I think we have a novelist on our hands. Owlwatcher, please continue with your embellishments while you are on a roll. This is a neat thread, and who knows, publishable! 😀

Owlwatcher, I wasn’t worried about you at all. As a fellow ghost cat “seer” I can attest to their existance, no doubt. I have several ghost cats in my house. Some have owned me, others I don’t know at all. They don’t bother anyone, just like to be noticed.

Thanks for sharing your tails. When time permits, I’ll tell you some of mine!

Since I have been asked to continue, I will now continue the story of the ghost cat from where I left off last night. Now that I am free to embellish without worrying all of you, it will be much easier to make this as spooky as I can. Keep in mind that most of the story will center around true events (which will probably be spookier than the fiction) and only the appearances of the ghost cat will be fiction inspired by true events.

The ghost cat made one final appearance last night. It was after I finished with the computer in the back bedroom and decided to bring my cats in for the night. Mamma kitty came in without a fight but, as soon as I opened the door to take the food out to our dog, Trinity, Shiva burst out of the house and ran down the driveway. I raced after her but she was impossible to see in the dark. I figured that she would come back in once the cat’s food was ready.

I walked back up the driveway and that’s when I saw it. This time there was no mistaking the Siamese markings. It’s definitely Snoopy in the living room window. His eyes were fixed on me as I walked toward the house and he me get right up to the window before disappearing — only he didn’t disappear while I was looking at him. Trinity started barking and I turned toward her to quiet her down. When I looked back at the window, he was gone.

Now I am left with several questions. Was the cat in the back room actually Snoopy? Are there two ghost cats? And, most important of all, why is he back after all these years?

He’s not back after all of these years, he never left. Something must have happened that made you aware of him again. He was always there, just watching. Has their been a unusal amount of stress in the house, has someone died or is someone very sick. All of these events can herald the appearance of the ghost cats. Do you have more than one? No doubt. In my house I have three that have owned me, but there are at least two others that I can’t place. They know no sence of time, just places and people they want to be near.

Something strange just happened. I was in the living room eating lunch and I noticed that there seemed to be a sort of haze all through the house. I thought that maybe it was just because the light coming in the windows was hazy but the house is feeling haunted again.

I finished my lunch and I guess I had fallen asleep when I was startled awake by a loud noise from the back bedroom. I stood up and looked into the room and noticed one of the drawers in the chest of drawers in the back corner was all the way open. I went back to take a closer look and realized that this was the drawer that had been stuck in a half-open position for over a year. I had put a bunch of photo albums in the drawer right after I cleaned out that bedroom and, I guess I had put way too much in there because the drawer started coming apart and got stuck. I have never been able to get it open and now it was open all the way.

One of the photo albums was sitting at an odd angle. I wondered if something was trying to tell me something so I took the photo album out and opened it. That was when I noticed the cat in the windowsill. I started to walk toward the window but nearly tripped over a cord from one of my keyboards. After I regained my balance, I looked back up but the cat was gone.

Looking through the album brought back many memories. One of the pictures was taken in the house I used to live in around the corner. That house was a frightening place for a young child to live in. I have been in my share of ‘haunted houses’ but I still have dreams about that house.

This particular picture was taken at Christmas time when I was about 6 years old and it showed me holding up one of my gifts with the lit up Christmas tree on one side of me. The old TV was on the other side of me. Seeing that TV brought back memories of one of the strangest things that ever happened to me.

I was about 8 years old when this happened. My mom and the jerk she was married to at the time were gone and I was outside playing. I was allowed to play outside as long as I went into the house before dark. I hated being in that house alone so I stayed outside as long as I could. Finally, the living room light came on (which wasn’t unusual in that house – in fact I remember thinking nothing of seeing the light come on by itself) and I knew it was time to go in. Besides, it was starting to get cold outside and I didn’t have a jacket on. I went into the house and took the ball I had been playing with into my room. When I came back out, the TV was on. This too was nothing unusual. The TV in that house used to turn on and off by itself all the time and the button would actually move in or out as if somebody had turned the TV on or off. I remember looking at the clock thinking it was nearly time for “Wait Till Your Father Gets Home” to come on. I went into the kitchen to get some Kool-Aid and, when I came back into the living room, the TV had changed channels and the show was starting.

A few minutes later, I heard something that in the kitchen that sounded like the basement door rattling. I got up and went into the kitchen. I had always thought it was strange to have a door to the basement in the kitchen. I hated that basement. Every time I went down there, I felt like there was something watching me and one time I actually thought I heard voices down there. As I stood there staring at the door, I heard it rattle again but the door didn’t move. I found myself turning toward the kitchen counters and to the drawer where we kept the doorknob for the basement door. I was petrified yet something seemed to be pushing me to open that door. I found myself taking the doorknob out of the drawer and putting it into the hole in the door. I can’t remember if I actually turned the knob. I seem to remember the door flying open feeling myself falling backward then everything went black. I found myself waking up on the couch in the living room. “Wait Till Your Father Gets Home” was just ending. Had it been a dream? I went into the kitchen and found the basement door shut with the doorknob still in it.

I still have no explanation for what happened that night. All I know is that my head was hurting and I had a lump as if I had fallen against the sharp edge of the kitchen counter.

As I stood there staring at the photo and thinking about the strange events of that night long ago, I heard a loud wailing that sounded like a cat fight outside. I ran outside to find Shiva and Mamma kitty having some angry words with one another. I managed to get them to calm down then, as I turned to go back into the house, I saw the cat in the window again. He was gone by the time I got back into the house.

So far, my roommate still has not seen the ghost cat and I hope it stays that way. Still, I don’t know how long I am going to be able to keep it a secret if these strange things keep happening.

Owlwatcher, you have a gift. You know that November is National Novel Writing Month. You could write a novel centering around the re-appearance of the ghost cat and the strange events that unfolded. I like the story told from the first person perspective too.

    #84347

How fun, and weird, too. I love the stories, and I agree with ppearson. You should write the story.

Thanks for the entertainment owlwatcher. I will one day relate the happenings of a friend of mine, that I couldn’t tell as well as he told it.

    Have a great halloween.

I saw a white figure rush by the couch this evening as my roommate and I were sitting there watching TV. My first thought was that it was one of my cats and I nearly said something to it. Then I realized that it couldn’t have been one of my cats. I am wondering if all these stories are bringing the real ghost cat back.
