    It’s Valentine’s Day!

Do you celebrate the day with your significant other, family members, fave friends & special furry one? Or do you think it’s just the card industry way of selling 1 billion cards along with stimulating the economy in dreary winter with flowers, candy, jewelry, pet treats & human noms!?

My husband and I celebrate the day as a reminder to stop and appreciate the wonderful loving relationship we have. I think the holiday has become over commercialized (like so many of our American holidays) but we continue to celebrate it for what it is: a day to be thankful for all of the loving relationships we have, not just romantic ones. Its also my Mom’s birthday so I grew up celebrating Valentine’s Day as a two-fold holiday 🙂

Here is a photo of me and Sanskrit who is all dolled up for the day!

    Enjoy: <img src=”http://i1249.photobucket.com/albums/hh520/KoppyKat27/Starr%20Kits/SanskritandLValentines.gif&#8221; border=”0″ alt=”Photobucket”>

Aw…that is cute! Give your kits some valentine scritches too!

I do recognize valentine’s day for special ones furry & hoomen! It’s a fun way of letting someone know I appreciate & enjoy them as being part of my life!

Tonite will be low key nothing fancy but still a treat on a special day. Yeah, every day should be special but because of the crazy schedule in life it is sometimes over looked!

Hubby and I will have a low key evening; he usually gets flowers for me and I get him chocolate and/or I make a special dinner or bake something for dessert. Don’t know what’s for dinner tonight since we had steak last night and pizza the night before!

I saved a can of “the good stuff” for the cats!

I don’t usually send cards, but reflect warmly on special friendships.

Today I will have lunch at my Mom’s. I baked heart-shaped cookies!

No it’s a real holiday in honor of St. Valentine for sure. It’s definitely been commercialized in our society though. I don’t have anyone to celebrate with but my darling girls. As a child my favorite thing was my mom baked two chocolate cakes and cut them to form a heart shape. Then she made ‘pink’ icing and put conversation hearts around the edges of the cake. It was always my favorite cake. I wanted it for my birthday but my mom always said “no” because then it wouldn’t be special on Valentine’s Day. It was one of those fond memories of childhood.

I haven’t done anything much today, usually try and send out cards to the kids at least. This year has been been wonky though, so that didn’t get done. So mine will be quiet and watching tv or having the tv watch me when I fall asleep 🙂

My husband got me a card from the kitties that said “We have nine lives”…..”And we want to spend them all with you.” Awww! He drew cartoon pictures of Leo (rolling on his back and shedding), Eko (peeking from the corner of the card with his huge saucer eyes) and Emily (just her tail zooming out of the picture yelling “Aaaagh!) Hee Hee. He knows the way to my heart.
