The fireplace starters are a great way to use up votive leftovers and it will make a nice fragrant gift as well. That sounds really pretty KarenC. WWM’s Cappuccino and Cocoa’s will also be a good combination with homemade vanilla extract and some vanilla sugar. I’m thinking it would be pretty in little mason jars with Christmas gift wrap on the covers and the instructions tied on with Christmas ribbon. Put them all together in a basket with some Christmas cellophane and they will make such nice gifts! Last year I got very nice baskets at the crafts store and rolls of nice wide cellophane with holly and snowflakes.

I have made salsa for the last couple of years and canned it up. I’ve made a nice gift out of it by adding in some gourmet corn chips and packing it all in a bowl big enough for the chips.

I’ve done something similar with apple butter and biscuit mix.

Great ideas! Maybe as a gift I could get together the Bach flowers essences that most people use,The Rescue Remedy,Rescue Sleep and Rescue Pets. Also some ginger candy and special teas from a health food store. Arranged nicely in a little basket with frilly bows and whatnot.

I have just made a calendar for my sister’s 60th birthday. I trawled the old photos box and found lots of pictures of her as a baby and young child – one picture per month. I scanned the photos into the computer and printed out the twelve months. Then I bought a cheap photo frame and put the twelve sheets into the frame. Each month she has to open the back of the frame and get out the next sheet. She loved it, although she HATED one of the pictures I had chosen …………………..

Cheri, wouldn’t that be wonderful 🙂 I used to knit many years ago, never could get the hang of crocheting though. My daughter started this past year along with all her office mates.

I’ve done baked goods and fixed them up in pretty bags which I got at the dollar store.

This year (and last year) I did a good bit of knitting and given out some gifts that way (hats, scarves, coffee cozies, potholders, etc). Cheri, start early in the year and make some stuff, then you can chooses who gets what without feel pressed for time.

We’ve also taken pictures and then got these frames that flip to another picture for the grandmothers.

Also, bought cute mugs on sale after christmas for the next year and put little packets of hot chocolate, some candy/snack, with a bookmark and then a big bow 🙂

My dad got a mailbox this year….my parents needed one bad!

I’m glad I checked this thread- I think I’ll make a few jars of cookie mix to give to friends and my parents (they never use/like store bought gifts) the oatmeal ones sound good and super easy

One year I made really neat candle holders. I bought mugs and matching plates from the dollar store and bought creamic glue. You place the mug upside down so it serves as a base and glue the little plate (right side up) on top to serve as the candle platform. (curvy shaped mugs work best) Then I bought pillar type candles (also from the dollar store) to place on top of the plate and finished with either a ribbon bow at the base of the candle or little greenery or grapevine wreaths. So for about 4 dollars per gift I was able to make some really nice unique christmas gifts. These also work as cookie plates to leave cookies out for Santa for those with small children at home.

What if you make him(or have someone who knows how 🙂 ) a CD just for him…Songs that he likes, has memories too, etc. you can download the songs and burn them on a CD. 🙂
