Hey everyone,
I have some maintenance work to do on the site this week, which includes moving the site to a new server (long story short, the hosting company the site is currently one has put it’s prices up almost double now that my current contract is over, and I can get a much better deal – both in server power and cost elsewhere).
While the work won’t take long, because of the server change there could be a 12 to 48 hour downtime when the site won’t be accessible while the name servers change over to point you all to the new server. I hate having the site down for any amount of time, but in this case its necessary 🙁
In other news; myself, Mrs KM and the kits have left the “sunny” shores of the UK and moved abroad to Latvia (Mrs KM is Latvian and has got herself a much better job than she was able to get in the UK). Also we (minus the kits who will be staying with the in-laws) will be having an Easter vacation in Tokyo, this won’t effect the site at all, I just thought you should know where I am 🙂

I should have mentioned, this work is due to take place on Tuesday, so everything should be back up and running for everyone by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

Exciting news re the big move KM! So now you’re no longer ”somewhere in the UK” but rather ”somewhere in Latvia”. ”TDK” is really getting Int’l tks to the Information Superhighway. Guess Smokey is a for sure a keeper and hope the kitties adjust well to new home. Best of luck to you and Mrs. KM. Tks for heads-up re potential timeout, I’ll just be jonesing for the Café LOL. Again tks for all that you do for us and have a GR8 time in Tokyo where I believe they actually have cat cafés! Purrhaps you’ll check it out They’re supposedly opening one in my city this summer!

Yes, I had heard that there were cat cafés in Tokyo and I am very much looking forward to finding one and getting some pics.

OMG I’m so jealous!! I would love to visit Tokyo! Hope the sever change goes smoothly .. It’s great Mrs KM got a more suitable job but it must be hard moving without kitties 🙁 at least you can Skype them maybe 🙂

My understanding is that the kits are in Latvia as well, except for the Tokyo vaca?

Wow KM, everything happening at once for you and Mrs KM and the TDK site.
May both moves go smoothly and the kits settle quickly and you find the kitty Cafe in Tokyo.

That’s right kj. The kits are only not coming to Tokyo, which is a shame. I’m sure they would love to have a saucer of milk in a cat café and a look around at all the Hello Kitty merchandise.

I’m about 10 miles out of Riga. It’s a beautiful city and country. With my wife being latvian we used to holiday here to visit her family at least twice a year.

Just to update, I didn’t get a chance to do any off the site maintenance today as I’ve spent the day laid up in bed with man-flu. I’m feeling a bit better now, but as it’s late for me here, I didn’t want to start the maintenance work and be up all night “should” something go awry. By TDK time the site should be down from around 10-11 am, so there is still another 12ish hours left. I didn’t post a kit today as I thought it would be unfair on whoever went up today not getting their proper time as star kit.
