Okay, this is how reluctant a cook I am…I use mainly the microwave and only use the oven to bake cookies, broil a good steak, or do my favorite lemon herb chicken dish.

If I had room, I would like to have a home gym consisting of a rowing machine, eliptical machine, and treadmill along with a weight machine. All we need is a room of about 20 x 20 to fit it in.

Well, OP – he’ll probably notice after a few weeks! The trainer will be great to help you not get stuck in a rut. Between this and hula you are going to be one toned girl!

Well, the one I want has a rowing machine on it and fits in a 9’x5′ area for working out. and then it folds up to 4’5″x 3′ for storage.

Can understand not wanting to tell the man-friend OP. We guys have a generally different approach and attitude for working out than women do and sometimes it can be a bad thing

Arg – rowing machines are hard work! I want so much from a home gym (like a sauna!) that it’s just easier to go to the gym. It would be nice to have some equipment at home, though.

I’d love to be able to go to a gym, but the only gym around my area is not a very good one and for both me and the wife it would be much expensive.

Yep… I noticed that Instinct. We worked out a couple of time before…he really pushed for me to increase the weight. I just can’t do it. Besides – right now I’m not sure how much longer he’ll be man-friend…. there will very likely be a status change to friend or dance partner soon.

Yep, some guys are all about how much is being lifted and some are about making sure it’s all being done perfect.

When Jamie and I work out I try to make sure her form is correct and she isn’t doing too heavy or too light.

Isn’t it terrible that it can be so expensive just to try and live a healthier life style??? Yes, in some areas gym memberships are outrageous. And when you go to the grocery store and really try to buy only healthy foods it’s way more expensive than just loading up on frozen dinners. We are constantly being told how unhealthy Americans are and yet it can be just outrageously expensive to try and do better. It makes no sense.

Yep. And meanwhile the House of Reps has a brand new gym that only costs them $20 a month and a brand new cafeteria where they serve Wolfgang Puck coffee and mahi mahi for lunch.

hmm….. sounds like we might need to run for office! Yeah, they have plenty of perks!

For me, the trainer needs to keep in mind that I sit all day at work… I don’t have a physically demanding job. Man-friend works construction and has been installing 400 pounds doors… without help. Uh… I’d be squished like a bug.

Form is highly important as is lifting the correct amount of weight… too little is of no benefit, too much and you get hurt.

Especially the arm weights – be careful of your shoulders! I have seen lots of rotator cuff tears from people using bad form and bad technique. That’s where your trainer will really be valuable.

Yep, you’ve got it, OP. 🙂

I just need to be working so I can get a nice little home gym and get back the muscle mass that I’ve lost.

Though Jamie says that since I already have a chest that she can’t even get her arms around she doesn’t want me to put on too much mass

WWM.. I have tendonosis of the right arm/shoulder… so I know to take care there.

Thanks Instinct… I understand what wife-woman is saying. Current man-friend has a large chest that I can’t get around him. And huge bi-ceps.

Do be careful, OP! Do they have a hot tub? I’ll bet soaking would feel good!

Sadly.. no hot tub. One of the locations does have a pool though.
