I’ve had an issue with Sweet Pea (now 8 weeks) biting and scratching. She bites and chews on everything, and every time she’s near my hands or feet, she bites. And it really hurts. I tried doing that thing where you pretend it hurts (but it actually does hurt) and you mimic a kitten saying ow but it always ends up in a pained gasp and then she’s back for more. She just plays way too rough and I’m not sure how to get her to stop. She chews on my chargers and my earbuds in specific, so I dunno if I can coat them in something that tastes gross to cats but isn’t harmful to them? I’ve resorted to just locking her in her kennel when she does naughty things but she doesn’t really seem to understand. Help.

Hi Eli, I wonder if Sweet Pea is teething. I’m not sure when the ‘milk’ teeth fall out, but the new ones coming in may be bothering her.
Cats hate citrus. I’ve put orange peels at the base of the Christmas tree to keep cats from climbing. Check with your pet supply store, there should be something there that you can spray on that will smell ok to you but really yukky to her. Also try to keep chargers away from her (I know, easier said than done!).

Eli, like Joan said, she is probably teething and I know it hurts and is aggravating. You have to have patience and then some more patience in dealing with stubborn kittens sometimes. I don’t know if she has lots of toys, but you want to play with her with those and not your hands and feet. She will mistake those for toys and bite. Keep all cords and earbuds put away so they can’t play with them. Cheri said there is a spray called bitter apple, which I have heard of, and I would definitely try it. Get her some wand toys with feathers and things, and stuffies for her to carry around and bite and kick. Laser pointers are good, but they still need something to bite and chew on. Hope this helps.

I’ve been trying to keep any cords away from her but since my beds on the floor, I just cover them up, but sometimes she gets sneaky and attacks them when I fall asleep. I do move them up onto the table when I leave, though, or stick them in a different room. I’ll definitely be looking into the bitter apple spray! Thank you
